Wind and Earth

This happened a few days after Dillan arrived in town.

Drustan went to Primrose’s cafe to have his favorite cappuccino and cream custard apple pie to cheer his self up.

Drustan is in a dilemma. Dillan Calypso is in town. He is Drustan’s worst nightmare. But what can he do? He can’t kick him out of town even if he want to huhu.

“Why do you look so down, Teacher?” Nikola asked curiously

“Ahm, are y-you sick, Teacher?” Niclaud asked worriedly

Drustan can’t ignore the twins, but he’s aware that he’ll just end up crying if he talk to these kids.

“Are you really sick, Teacher? Is it because of the side effect of your magic?” Nikola asked curiously

Just a few days ago, the three of them talk about the side effects of magic to the mage body.

Water magic makes the body cold, and Fire magic makes the body hot. The stronger the magic, the more dangerous it is for the mage. Most of them end up together because water and fire mages can help regulate each other’s temperature.

While Wind Magic makes the body of the mage too light and Earth Magic makes the body too heavy. And the stronger the magic, the more dangerous it is for the mage.

Between a Wind mage and an Earth mage, the Earth mage have it worse because their body would feel very heavy and those with immense powers will feel as if a mountain is weighing them down. That’s the reason why Earth Mages chases after Wind Mages all the time. Wind Magic can make anything light, so most of the time Earth Mages and Wind mages marry each other.

“M-maybe Teacher is not sick..?” Niclaud asked

“He look sick though.” Nikola

How can Drustan just ignore these kids when they’re worrying about him like this?

“Don’t worry kids, Im not sick.”

“A-are you sure, Teacher?” Niclaud asked

“You really look sick, is it because you’re still single, Teacher?” Nikola asked

“What does being single have to do with sickness?” Drustan asked

“Lovesick!” the twins said in unison

“......” – Drustan

“Teacher I heard that the eldest daughter of our neighbour have earth magic, maybe she will take pity on you and accept you.” Nikola suggested

“H-her name is Constance. She is one o-of our regular customers.” Niclaud added

“Constance? Isn’t she still a minor? Do I look that desperate to the two of you?” Drustan asked

The twins nodded immediately.

“.......” – Drustan

“How about the florist, Ms Jane? I heard she also have earth magic.” Nikola suggested

“She’s not my type.” Drustan

“Teacher, can you please stop playing hard to get? You’re already hard to want, you’ll be single forever at this rate.” Nikola

“.......” – Drustan

“T-there’s also Ms Sally, s-she’s also an earth mage.” Niclaud suggested

“Why are you two so insistent on pairing me with an earth mage?” Drustan asked the twins.

“B-because Teacher, you said Earth and Wind m-mages also need each other j-just like Fire and Water Mages.” Niclaud

“Like I said before, Wind Mages wont be easily blown away by the wind if they have an Earth Mage on their side, but its not like we wind mages will die without an Earth Mage.” Drustan explained

“But Teacher, you also said that Earth Mages might really die if they are not with Wind Mages for a long time. Isn’t that more of a reason for you to find your own Earth Mage, Teacher? What if someone out there is waiting for you too? Don’t you feel sorry for them?” Nikola argued and Claud nodded his head several times in agreement.

“I want to believe that too because it sounds romantic. But it’s not that easy, kids.” Drustan said with a sigh.

“How about that friend of yours, Teacher?” Nikola

“Friend?” – Drustan

“Big brother Dillan!” the twins said in unison

“.....” – Drustan

“B-big brother seems to really like you, T-teacher.” Niclaud

“I don’t understand what big brother Dillan sees in you but I agree with Claud.” Nikola said with a nod

“Look here kids, that demon ehem I mean that guy is not my friend.” Drustan

“You’re not friends? But big brother seems to really like you, Teacher.” Nikola

“He only likes to tease me and make fun of me.” - Drustan

“W-why?” Niclaud asked

“Because when we were kids, I was really pretty and a lot of people would always mistake me for a girl. He loves to tease me because of that.” Drustan

“Y-you were pretty as a kid, Teacher?” Niclaud

“Big words, Teacher.” Nikola

“It’s the truth! But I’m more manly now so I don’t understand why he’s still making fun of me until now.” Drustan

When they were kids, Drustan was desperate to prove his worth to his family. He’s afraid that he’ll be thrown away if he didn’t.

One day, a grand banquet was held to celebrate the birthday of the third son of Count Calypso.

Drustan’s entire family attended, that’s when he met Dillan Calypso for the first time.

Drustan will never forget that day, it was his worse nightmare.

“You have wind magic, right? I’ve decided, you’re going to become my wife.” The young Dillan said with a smile.

“I’m not a girl!” little Drustan argued

“But you’re so pretty, don’t lie.” The young Dillan insisted.

“I’m not!” little Drustan wanted to cry.

At that banquet, the grown ups got bored so they made their children compete in swordplay.

Drustan was confident in his skills, he thought it was his chance to prove his self.

But all the grown ups said that Dillan Calypso will surely win even before the competition started.

“I won’t lose to you!” little Drustan declared

“Why is a girl joining the competition?” young Dillan asked

“I’m not a girl!”

“Stop lying. If you lost, you have to marry me.” Young Dillan said

“No way!”

“You have to become my wife.” Dillan insisted

“You’re an idiot! I said I’m a boy!” Drustan argued

“Be my wife.” - Dillan

“No!” – Drustan

“If you let me kiss you, I’ll give you the first place.” – Dillan

“......ok.” - Drustan

But Dillan is an evil spawn. He’s a scammer. The friendly swordplay competition ended with Dillan Calypso as the winner.

“Dillan you liar!” – Drustan

“What’s wrong? I’m giving you the first place, me.” – Dillan

“I hate you waaaaahhhh!”

Drustan was only seven years old at that time. It left a scar in his heart.

Dillan never stop teasing him even after they grew up.

It’s already been a few years since Drustan ran away from home, he couldn’t believe that he will meet Dillan Calypso again.

And that freakin demon is still teasing him until now!

Drustan just wants to cry huhu.
