Mark stayed up all night, too scared to fall back asleep or to move from his spot. He stayed up until five in the morning before he dared to move to get ready for the day. It took him longer than usual to complete his routine, the feeling of being watched didn't go away and due to his sleepiness, he bumped into several things on his way to the bathroom and back. He heard sounds and noises that did not exist and he was sure he saw a shadow in the corner of his eyes every now and then.
"It's just the lack of sleep, Mark. Get your shit together."
After breakfast, Mark took Chica out for a walk. He enjoyed the sun shining down to earth, the people around him and the feeling of not going insane in a public place. They were out for an hour until they got home again, Chica storming inside and jumping onto the couch. She turned to Mark and barked happily, telling him to sit down with her. He just chuckled and jogged to his dog, sitting down and ruffling her fluffy fur. She rolled over, wanting her belly to be rubbed to which Mark happily obliged. He noticed that something was wrong when the light above him started to flicker. He moved his eyes from his dog up to the ceiling where his lamp flickered for another two minutes until it burnt out.
"Weird, I thought that I just put new ones in," Mark said disappointed, turning his attention back to Chica.
They played for another half an hour with the light of the sun shining through a nearby window before Chica laid on Mark's lap and seemed to take a nap. Mark dreamily played with her fur and sunk deep in thoughts, not even noticing how Dark materialized behind him.
"So, Mark, do you still think I'm fictional?" Dark's voice rumbled besides Mark's ear.
The man jumped at the sudden voice and turned his head into Darks direction.
"What the- oh holy mother of god, what are you doing here?!" Mark firstly whispered and lastly shouted at the demon, making Chica jump up and off the couch.
Mark quickly followed her lead and jumped off the couch, stumbling backwards and into the nearest corner.
"My my, no need to back away that much there, Mark," Dark smirked a way too wide and toothy smirk.
Mark cowered into himself as much as possible, trying to melt into the shadows and vanishing entirely from this world. When the demon continued to stride towards the horrified human, the loyal dog jumped in front of her owner and growled at the stranger. Dark just chuckled and crouched down to one knee, holding his left hand out to her.
"Hey my girl, can't you recognize your owner?" Dark spoke softly, hiding his echoing as best as possible and changed his deep, monotone voice to a warm and silly one. Just as the one from Mark.
The dog stopped growling for a moment, staring at the character in front of her. However, she was not that dump, her growl returned and she barked at Dark, standing her ground, protecting her real friend and owner. Dark just glared at the Golden Retriever as he scrunched his nose up a little in frustration, fixing his gaze on his counterpart again.
"So, here I am. In person, more than the less alive, right before you. Am I real after all though?" the shadow-like creature said and stood up straight again with a crack of his neck, a sadistic smile plastered on his grey lips.
"You should've known that something is wrong with you, Mark. Since the very first time I appeared in your dreams. It was obvious. You should have at least assumed that something was wrong. You should have known that you're unstable," he said, knowing all too well that it pushed his creator farther towards insanity.
"You know that you're not normal. You know that you are just hallucinating all of this right now. You are going insane, Mark."
Dark now stood in front of Mark's dog, looking down to her. Swiftly, Dark kicked her out of his way to the wall right next to them. Mark's eyes widened in horror as he heard his girl whimper softly. His eyes met Chica's and he clearly saw the pain she was in. His horror turned to bare anger as he kept staring at his dog and then up to the monster he has created. His frame shivered and he clenched his hands into tight fists, knuckles turning almost white. Tears of rage collected themselves at the brim of his yes. His clenched fists laid on his knees that were pulled up to his chest. He locked his chocolate brown eyes with the crimson red ones of the man before him and gritted his teeth.
"How in the ever loving world could you dare kicking. my. dog." He emitted a low growl from the back of his throat.
"Oh, but Mark, I did nothing. It was you. You were the one who hurt your precious dog," Dark spoke coldly, breaking into Marks mind to corrupt his memory from moments ago, "Just remember how you kicked her hard to that wall, Mark. Remember."
As if a button was pushed inside his head, the image of Mark himself kicking Chica in her stomach flashed before his eyes.
"No! Th-this is not true! I did nothing!" he yelled desperately, shutting his eyes tight and wanting to burn this image out of his head. He opened his fists, only to close them again a moment later when his fingers found their way into Mark's curly hair, clenching around the soft locks.
"Oh, surely you didn't do it. Anyone else could have done it but you, right?" Dark asked, sarcasm dripping from his question, a sneer following afterwards.
"You! It was you who did this to her! You god damn-!"
"But I'm not real, Mark. Just a hallucination! Can't you see it?! I Am Not Real."
"Just accept it! You are out of your mind! Can't you see it? Can't You Just Accept Your Fate For Once?!" The dark entity stood now right in front of Mark, screaming at him, telling him lies and brainwashing him. He started to kick his creator, hard and merciless. Letting all of his anger out. The youtuber tried to shield his face as much as possible with his arms. Mark was crying at this point, curled up on the floor, uncontrollably sobbing and twitching.
Five minutes passed of Darkiplier hitting Mark that felt like half an eternity until he finally stopped. He stood back up straight and adjusted his tie and hair.
"I hope this was a lesson to you, Mark," he simply said, looking down at the twitching and crying form beneath him.
"W-wha-t h-have I d-done t-to y-you,"
"Oh Mark, you have done so much more to me than I could ever pay you back," Dark spat bitterly.
"But let me tell you something, Mark. The next few weeks are gonna be so much fun for the both of us. Prepare yourself."
With that, Dark picked up Mark bride style and looked one last time at Chica with an almost apologetic tint in his ruby eyes.
"I'm sorry my girl, but I had to do it. Anti will look after you in a few minutes," Dark whispered rather to himself than anybody in particular before he vanished in a black mist. Taking Mark with him.
Therefore, my dear, it is about time. We will meet soon. Very soon. It will all come together. Just be patient and sit back. Enjoy the show that it going to unfold in this book. I promise you, my rose in the night, that it will all make sense soon.
Yes...
