Shot

(1350 words)

Your POV

Standing in the office, listening to House talk about a patient that came into the clinic with a swollen tongue and a fever I shake my head. Walking over to the main office for something I hear someone ask for Dr. House. Looking over there's a middle aged man as House tells him that its the skinny with brown hair, only for him to correct and say it was Cameron.

"I'm skinny with brown hair."

The man nods slightly. "I used to be a patient of yours."

Before we could say anything else he pulls a gun out from under his jacket, shooting House in his side. Dropping what I was holding as the other three duck, Cameron covers her chest in shock. Foreman and Chase try to help House before the man tells them to stop. Watching as he steps a bit closer to House, pointing the gun at him once more to finish the job.

Getting into the room, I kick the back of the guy's knee, making him stumble as his leg folds and his knee hits the floor. His hand comes up and I catch it, twisting the gun in his hand, the trigger guard pinching his finger as he screams slightly. Taking it from him I throw him on the ground, my vision is red and I can't hear Foreman and Chase as they talk to me.

"You son of a bitch!"

Putting the gun on the glass table, I watch the man scramble to his feet, a slight limp in his knee where I kicked him. Following him as he leaves the room.

House's POV

The white hot pain in my side, matched the pain in my neck. Slipping in and out, I watch as (y/n) was able to disarm the shooter, Cameron in shock as she watches before getting Foreman and Chase's attention.

"Chase you need to catch her."

"Why me?"

"She'll kill him!"

He nods before Chase and Foreman get on the floor next to me, looking at them as some other staff run into the room to help, everything goes black.

Your POV

I was only able to get a few swings in on the guy before Chase and security broke us up. Fighting against Chase as I glared down the shooter, he watches me in shock.

"Chase, let me go!"

"Give me a sedative!"

Still fighting Chase I feel a needle in my arm as he holds me, relaxing my legs relax and everything calms down before Chase holds me as we both melt to the floor. Looking at Chase as he picks me up and I'm set on a gurney I grab his arm.

"Don't let House die."

He nods before I pass out. Things were dark for a moment before there was a light. Walking over to it and opening the door, I'm in House's apartment.

"Mommy!"

Turning as I see a couple small children run to me, I kneel down as they give me hugs and a kiss. Smiling gently I stand up, House walking over and giving me a kiss. He was actually walking, no cane or Vicodin in sight. He furrows his brows at me for a second as the kids run off.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Then why are you crying? Tough day at work?"

Wiping my face as I feel the tears I shake my head and smile at him. "Just happy to be home." He pulls me into him and kisses my forehead.

"I hope you're hungry too, I made your favorite."

"Daddy made sketti!"

The two kids run around a little as they shriek and laugh. Putting my things down, I catch one as House catches the other. "Let's get you two cleaned up for dinner."

Taking the two kids to the bathroom to wash their hands, I smile to myself. These two are 4 and 2, House has use of both of his legs and looking at my left hand and the fairly big rock on it, we're married. Standing up straight as I dry my own hands and the kids go to the kitchen to sit at the table, my hair is a little grey. Something I'd imagine is from having kids. Smiling I see House in the door way after blinking.

Turning to look at him as he walks over, his hand on my lower back as he pulls me to him. "Are you sure you're okay? You've been a little out of it since you got home."

Shaking my head, I run my hands along his chest and around his shoulders. "I told you, I'm okay. How was work for you?"

He furrows his brows as he looks down at me. "It would be fine, if I actually went." he pauses for a second as he tilts his head. "I haven't gone to work in almost 5 years now. I have new priorities, much better than puzzles."

Smiling I kiss him as i pull him down. His hand leans on the wall behind me as he holds me tightly. Pulling me away he smirks. "After James and Levi are in bed, I'm yours." he smirks and I smile before following him to the kitchen to eat.

After dinner, I sit on the edge of our bed letting my hair out of the towel after my shower. House gets into bed behind me before pulling me over to him. Smiling as I giggle, leaning into him as his arms are around me. Closing my eyes I hum gently, running my finger tips along his arm. He kisses my neck and it doesn't take long for me to give in. Laying on his chest as he plays with my hair, I smile to myself. Things are happy, I wish we could be like this forever. Two kids, we're married, House never had the infarction. Things are perfect as if I'm dreaming. The only thing with dreams is, eventually you have to wake up.

Opening my eyes I look around to the blinding lights of the hospital. My eyes watering from the brightness before I sit up slowly. Cameron is next to the bed, and pushes me back down. Only for me to jump up again as she looks at me.

"Where's House? Is he okay?" Looking around for a moment, the heart monitor beeping as my blood pressure changes. "Is the shooter dead?"

She looks at me as she rubs my arm. "House is out of surgery, he's still asleep. But he's stable."

Relaxing as I look at Allison. "Chase sedated me. Aussie bastard."

She shakes her head as she looks at me. "You were going to kill the shooter."

"He deserved it. Where is he?"

"He's chained to a bed, he got shot my security after you were sedated." Looking over to the door, I see Foreman. He comes over to the side of the bed.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm fine. I want to see House."

They share a look, watching the two of them I sit up slightly. "You don't want me close to House. Which would mean it's because he's in the ICU, which I'd expect. But if the shooter got shot, then it would also mean he's in the ICU. Next to House."

They sigh as Cameron nods. It wasn't long until I was able to get out of the bed and see House. Standing at the edge of his bed I watch him breathe as he's asleep. The man next to him was the shooter, he moves slightly as he wakes up and sees me. The monitor he was attached to beeping as he sees me.

"You shot my boyfriend, don't tell me you're scared of me."

"Get away from me."

"I'm not here to visit you, I'm here for him. See, if you really wanted him to suffer, you should have shot me."

He looks at me for a second before the nurses came in the room to put him to sleep again. Sitting on the chair next to House, I sit down holding his hand. Rubbing my thumb across his knuckles I sigh gently.
