Your POV
Going over the binders that I was putting together for the wedding, I jump slightly as i hear a crashing sound. Getting up and finding House kneeling, rubbing his leg. He glances at me before shaking his head. This had been going on for a couple weeks now. He was pretending not to be in pain, hoping I wouldn't notice, that it wouldn't be really coming back. Grabbing the old cane, I hand it to him. Picking himself off the floor as he taps the cane on the floor, I walk over to him. Only for him to brush by me.
Crossing my arms I hear the door close as he leaves the apartment. Shaking my head, I grab my phone and call Wilson.
"Hello?"
"House's pain is back."
"I know."
"You knew and didn't tell me?"
"He told me not to, he's ashamed."
"Ashamed of what? I fell in love with him after his infarction, when he was in chronic pain."
"I know that."
"But he doesn't believe it."
"No, he knew how happy you were after he could walk."
"I was happy because he was happy. Now he's left the apartment, and I don't know where he-"
Walking back into the living room, House is standing there looking at the floor. Hanging up the phone he purses his lips as he looks around the apartment, avoiding my eyes.
"I'm sorry."
"For what? Being in pain?"
"I left. I've been trying not to run from things. But when the pain started coming back, it's all I wanted to do."
"Why?"
He gives a slight shrug. "You were happy, I didn't want that to change."
"House, love. I was happy because you were happy."
He looks at me as I walk over to him. His cane coming up behind me as he lets me hug him. Leaning his chin on my head I lean into him as I smile gently. "Do we have to cancel the venue's?"
He makes a small noise. "You still want to have a wedding?"
Giving him a look he looks down at me, his brows furrowed slightly as they always were, his eyes bouncing between mine.
"Of course I want to still marry you."
"Why?"
"House, I love you."
He leans down to kiss me, smiling gently at me. "I love you too, I just wish I was better."
"You're perfect how you are."
Standing on my toes, I stretch to kiss him. Our lips press together as he leans down into my touch, his hands pulling me closer to him as our lips move. Pulling away I put my hand on his cheek, he leans into my hand slightly as he stands there. His blue eyes are solemn, smiling gently at him he relaxes a little.
"The only one of us that's perfect is you."
Smiling at him I shake my head. "I don't know what you see, but come help me figure out food for the reception."
He nods gently before following behind me, the cane tapping as he walks. A familiar sound we both thought we wouldn't hear again. "I don't know what you see in me either, so I guess we're even."
"Gregory."
He looks at me as he stops in his tracks, his eyes watching me as he's tense.
"What I see in you is a man that's misunderstood, who has walls that he doesn't like moving in fear of being hurt. Something I can relate to. There's more to you than just a jerk that pushes people away. I've seen it with how you care for your patients. You tell people you don't like patients but I'm pretty sure you don't meet them in fear of the pain you'll feel if you fail in figuring out what's wrong, if you fail in solving the puzzle. That's what makes you human, and a damn good doctor."
He stands there as he watches me for a second, sitting down and pulling me onto his lap. Smiling to myself as I sit down, his hands on my thighs before he leans into my shoulder. Hearing a breath get released from him I smile as I lean into him, my hand in his hair. Sitting there in silence as he takes in what I told him he raises his head to look at me. Seeing the slight watery look of his eyes, I kiss his forehead.
"What did I do to deserve you?"
"You hired me."
He smirks as he looks at me. "I should hire people based on looks more often."
"I thought that was why you hired Cameron?" Crossing my arms in a fake pout I look at him.
He leans back slightly as he smirks at me. "You caught me, Its because we both went to Hopkins. We even had a lot of the same classes."
"So what, we're the same person?"
"I have the better ass."
Shaking my head I laugh at him before kissing him, turning around we figure out what to have for the reception for food, and cake flavors. Deciding to keep things simple with grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and either green beans, or broccoli. The cake we went with a marlbled chocolate and vanilla. Nothing too terribly fancy.
"Do you want me to go with you dress shopping?"
"I'd rather we keep a couple of traditions, we're already going to be together the day of. I gotta have some secrets."
He shakes his head. "You enjoy teasing me."
"I do."
"You're supposed to say that later."
~
This one is a little shorter, I've had a pretty shit weekend, and haven't been having much inspiration to write further. I'm still in season 3 from being busy the last couple weeks with family. (I have some family who are trying to get me to move) Life is pretty shit right now, so bare with me. But I will say this story sky rocketed with views really quick, so thank you. I hope you're enjoying it so far. This book is probably going to be the longest I have on my page.
