CODE 92 Angel
Lucifer looked down at me,
"PRINCE COELESTIN HULDRYCH DIONISIUS!" He yelled from the sky but I did not respond.
"You have lost half of your army, friends that you'll never see again, under you they perish, and so does your crown. Why do you still, a child that you are afterall, not cry?" Lucifer asked, "Is it because your heart was tamed by the rocks themselves? Or is it because you're ignorant and unaware of the death of your best men? You are losing people that will never come back! Then why, do your eyes hold no grief?!"
"ANSWER ME, YOU BLOODY HUMAN TRASH!" Lucifer raged and hence grew out of his back, two black wings. His eyes went black and his skin turned paler. The wind wrapped itself around me but I didn't say a word. Finally, Lucifer flew towards me on his black wings and lightning came right behind, it began raining and Lucifer brought the storm wrapped in lightening with him "SCREW YOU, COELESTIN!"
I looked up at Lucifer; the skin on my knuckles was burnt and red, my palms were melting away as my grip over that electric rod tightened.
But,
His eyes were blue and brave.
Unleashing an untamed beast at me
His was a blue that would drown you
But not in the ocean
In the sky,
I looked at you,
Your eyes could engulf the sky and the ocean of a world far away
As if you were unearthly
Those were the only waters I could never colonise
Instead, they stole all my words away.
And I
Never understood desire until I found my eyes on you.
"Prince Coelestin, meet your new mentor and companion, Lucifer," Ben smiled at me. I looked at you. I was eleven then, dressed up in a red embroidered, royal gown decorated with diamonds and pearls. You wore a white, cotton shirt and white knickers, with white roses in your hand that you gave me. You looked like a premature teenager. You looked like a walking angel, but you had black wings on your back.
"Why do you have black wings?" I asked.
"They are there since birth," You smiled. That might've been the softest voice I heard years after the death of my mother.
"Looks ugly, can you fly with those?" I asked.
"Well, I can fly without them,"
"Is he an angel? Like for reals?" I asked Ben.
"He is an ANDRIOD,"
"A robot?" I poked your cheek, "Looks real. You are really good at things like this,"
"He will be your mentor, teaching you the art of war and politics," Ben smiled at me. I was always fascinated by his pink eyes.
But as my fascination shifted from pink to blue, peace took over my soul.
You were never into war or politics. You were all about the sky and humanity as a whole.
"The Earth is in a very small stage in a fast cosmic loom. Think of the rivers of blood spilt by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they can become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel of the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner. How frequent there are misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatred. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in this universe are challenged by this point of light. Our planet, the loneliest of a speck in the great, developing cosmic dark. In our obscured in all this vastness, there is no hint that hope will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbour life. There is nowhere else, at least in near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit? Yes. Settle? Not really."
I was glad someone like you taught me.
They were teaching me to kill.
You were teaching me to love.
But unable to perceive the shape of you, I found you all around me. Your presence filled my eyes with your love. It humbled my heart, for you were everywhere.
I never thought I'd ever meet a friend like you.
"One day, I wanna go on a war against the X-DROIDs with you," I told you.
"Are you sure I'll stick around then?" You asked.
"Of course! We'll always be together! Ugh! I wish I were an ANDROID too! Then, I would fight for my people just like you do,"
"Fighting does not always have to involve weapons, your highness,"
"But it requires blood,"
"Then," You passed me a sheet of paper, "Bleed on paper,"
So, I wrote about all the adversities people were facing and the measures I was taking and they wrote back to me of what my officials were doing to counter that. I could directly converse with my subjects. You helped through it and justice prevailed. I sat on my throne, a little eleven-year-old boy and you stood beside me like a shield. You held all my favourite songs and secrets.
Maybe love isn't what we are told. Maybe it's not attraction or romance or lust. Maybe love is a friend. Someone who understands you. Someone who changes your life just by being a part of it. Someone who makes you believe that there really is some good in the world.
"YOUR HIGHNESS! YOU PAINTED LUCIFER'S WINGS WHITE!" Joar shouted.
You turned back and looked at them, "They look weird,"
"We need to clean this up this mess," Joar held your hand and began leaving.
"Lucifer!" I yelled and you turned back. I grabbed your hand, "Follow me!"
And we sneaked out.
But watching you fight X-DROIDs scared me. You were strong but what if they killed you like they killed my parents? I just wanted to solve every problem in this world so that you didn't have to solve them, and we could be longer together.
You were always my forever.
I promised I'd never let you die.
"When I die, I don't want to live in the dark Earth. I want to live in a free sky. So don't bury me, burn me. That way, I can be part of the sky. So that every time it rains, I am everywhere I couldn't be while I was alive," You told me. We lay on the grass looking at the blue sky.
I hate it when you talk about death.
"You have weird wishes. Pretty sure I will die before you. The prophecy says I will have a short life," And I hope I die before you so that I won't have to witness your death.
"Then kill me before you die," You told me.
"Weirdo,"
"I'll be leaving for England tomorrow. I'll be back soon, your highness"
"Alright,"
You got up and held my hand, "While I am gone, this will protect you," You slipped a bracelet into my wrist. I looked at it. A thousand gifts couldn't stand against that one bracelet.
Next day, you left and I didn't see you again. I only heard stories.
Stories saying that you drowned entire England.
But I didn't believe it. I knew you. You couldn't do that.
After two years at a royal ball, I met you again. I was thirteen then, red ribbons were wrapped around my wrists with that bracelet you gave me and gold and silver wrapped on my head around my blonde locks. I was covered with garlands of roses and lilies.
You had returned to me.
Dressed in all black and purple, your wings weren't out anymore. Everyone brought me colourful flowers, but you came with black orchids. You lay them at my feet and turned back to leave. I held my royal gown and ran after you as all the flowers fell down my lap.
All the guards followed me and I ran after you.
"Lucifer!" I yelled. We were both were older now. My voice was deeper. Would you still recognise it if I yelled your name? You turned back and I grabbed your hand, "Follow me!"
We both ran away from the guards into a dark room.
A ray of the sun peeped through the windows of the room. I stood under the light while you stood in the dark, looking into my eyes. We were quiet cause they were still outside, looking for us. I looked into your eyes. I still felt the same when I saw your face. I was as tall as you now. We were out of breath. Finally, I gulped my saliva,
"...Where have you been?"
"I have been busy with the war and all," Your voice was of the same texture but a different tone. Were you mad at me? Did I do something wrong?
"Oh, the war," I smiled, "I heard weird stories about it...Like how you killed entire England,"
"Yes, it's true. I killed England,"
"Huh? No, wait, how?"
"I don't want to talk about it,"
You preach of peace when you yourself annihilated an entire nation. You hypocrite.
"I thought I knew every vein of your body but I think I misunderstood. Fighting really tells a person's true nature, huh," I said.
"If fighting tells a person's true nature, then no one knows me better than you, Coelestin,"
I should be angry. I should hit you, you destroyed my mother's birthland.
I SHOULD HATE YOU!
But
For you alone, I was weak.
"I'm ready to forgive you, Lucifer,"
I'm such an idiot.
"Your highness,"
Lucifer gently moved towards me and touched my head. As he kissed me on my forehead, it buried me gently into the wind, within the warmth of the only lips I ever lived to truly love. I could smell the stings of whiskey on your lips. You whispered my name like a prayer and traced the strands of my hair to draw a map of salvation. I heard the knock of your heart. When I looked at you, the way my senses shifted, I felt chaos.
Your eyes were so sad, I could almost touch the scars of your soul and cry. I could destroy myself to fix you. Then, you hugged me tightly,
"Love me, I'm cold,"
"What happened, Lucifer?" I whispered.
"Everything is falling apart,"
And that was it. You left. Again.
And I never saw you again. The only thing that kept me alive was the thought that in some other life, we are standing side by side. But I do know that in this life,
I am alone.
And I have to spend the rest of my life missing you.
It's hard to wake from a nightmare
When you are not even asleep.
"Oh, so it's you five, huh,"
I met you again at my court. This time, not as a friend, but as a prince. You still looked the same. I stood before you, taller than you.
"Pretty bold of an X-DROID to come walking to his own death,"
So, you lied to me again. You are not even an ANDROID.
"Lucifer was an X-DROID?"
"No way, Ben lied to us again!"
"Is here gonna kill us and eat us?"
"Please, I have good taste,"
Your eyes were the same. And oh your pride, it only grew after all this time.
But it was strange
Because when I see you now,
My heart feels nothing.
Nothing at all.
The bracelet turned into a bow and I pulled the string. Your eyes looked into mine. I don't even...know why I liked you anymore.
I wish
We never met.
"LUCIFER!" My electric spear pierced through your white skin, reaching the blue sky from your back. Your ugly black wings flapped like a struggling raven held by its claws.
Then why, do your eyes hold no grief?
My heart had been grieving the moment you left. It burned and burned and burned until it turned to ice. Everything I could lose, I have lost.
You made me this way.
