CODE 83 Brussels
Ameradite looked at Evelyn and slowly moved towards him, "Xelevyni..." She whispered. He stood before her in the dry desert, in front of the spacecraft.
Evelyn looked at her. She moved closer to him, "How are still so small?"
Evelyn looked at her,
"I remember kissing you," He said in English, "...Why do I remember kissing you?"
She hugged him tightly and kissed his forehead, "Let's go back home,"
"Home? Did Slaine send you?" He asked.
"Slaine? What is that?"
"What do you mean 'home'?"
"Home, to Kelgester. To the waters that had borne you once upon a time," She smiled. Clanthido pressed his fingers on his eyelids and pulled out a translucent skin, slowly removing his human suit. Evelyn looked at him and then at Ameradite.
"...What are you?"
"What do you mean?" She moved closer to him, "You don't know me?"
"I...don't remember," He pressed his head, "I know I know you, but I can't remember,"
"You don't remember about your planet?"
"Planet?"
"Kelgester," She held his hands in hers, "We're from Kelgester, you came to Earth on a mission,"
Evelyn didn't understand what they were saying. Ameradite removed her human suit and looked at him, "Do you still not recognise me?"
He just shook his head.
"Did you forget us within four years?" Clanthido asked.
"No," Evelyn clenched his eyes, "I remember a man... Two men... Three maybe" He rubbed his eyes and heard voices, two men, it was two men yelling at him.
One of them pushed him on the ground and the other one inserted some sort of needle. Their faces were unclear.
"What are you doing to me—"
"JUST SHUT UP! SHUT UP!" He screamed, "This is to the four hundred thousand people you killed today!"
Evelyn opened his eyes and turned back. Lucifer stood behind him, "Evelyn? What are you doing here?" He had just come out of the spacecraft. Ameradite and Clanthido had told him everything about them and about Ben.
"Lucifer..." Evelyn looked at him.
"What the fuck–What are you doing here? Where's Slaine?"
Ameradite looked at them,
"You both know each other?"
"Yes," Lucifer said, "He is someone I know in the future–WHAT THE FUCK!" He looked at Clanthido and Ameradite, "So, this is what you really look like?"
"Future?"
"We're currently in the past,"
"What? Did we jump into a different time frame?" Ameradite asked Clanthido.
"No," Lucufer said, "When you met me, you were in the future, but we got transmitted here to the past, I don't know how or why, but I remember that happened,"
"So, that's why Xelevyni is so young!"
She smiled, "Clanthido, we'll charge to the future then,"
"You have a time machine?" Lucifer asked.
"Yes, its inbuilt inside the spacecraft,"
"Can you take me with you?" Evelyn asked. Lucifer looked surprised, "And what about Slaine?"
Evelyn took a deep breath, "He'll be fine without me, he'd be better infact. He's happier with Asselyum anyways. I'm just a burden, so I'll go,"
He walked behind Clanthido and Ameradite and got inside the spacecraft. Lucifer walked behind him and closed the door behind them. Clanthido started the time machine.
Lucifer looked at Evelyn, "Did you guys fight?"
Evelyn looked at him,
"No, I just realised that I have no worth in the life of a human. We are different. For a long time... I feared losing him. The thought of never having him by my side scared me. I fought to keep us together. But now, I look at how things are now, I never imagined this moment. But I realised how holding on to him was killing me.
I wouldn't say I regret it, it was good. But all good things fall apart"
Lucifer looked ahead, "Wait... Who are you guys looking for again?"
"Xelevyni's future self," Ameradite smiled.
"Evelyn's future?" Lucifer asked.
"Yes, Xelevyni. His name is Xelevyni,"
Lucifer's eyes lit up, "Ben!"
. . .
Slaine sat at the roof and looked into a album. It was dark and the stars shone above him. The moon lit up the photographs. Looking at photographs always made him sad. Because they remained the same even after the person inside them had changed.
He remembered the first time he met Evelyn. He reached his waist. And now he reached till his shoulders. The house walls were full of crayon skateboard tattoos, labels of his increasing height, his notebooks laying on the sofa, an empty skateboard ramp behind their house, his skateboard waiting for him in the halls, his trophies were now meaningless.
The short strands of his brown hair fallen on the carpet, photo frames on the wall, his fingerprints on the doorknobs, his room still smelling of him, his laundry laying on the washing machine, a box bandages lying on his bed. His tears still wet on his pillowcase.
The stars were not the only things he left behind. Slaine was just sitting and thinking,
'...How did this happen? You said I'd leave you, I tried everything to make sure I don't. And then you left me.'
He cried as he looked at the stars and then pressed his face on his knees. He was busy crying but then suddenly, he heard Jimmy and Axel screeching downstairs.
"God fucking dammit, a man can't even cry in peace in this household!" Slaine got down the roof and walked towards Axel's room. On his way, he looked at the door to Evelyn's room. He could see him, about to burst the door open anytime and come out yelling how he won another video game match with his online friends while hugging Slaine.
He reached his fingers towards the doorknob, "SLAINE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! PUT THAT THING DOWN!" Jimmy yelled from Axel's room.
"I?" Slaine walked towards the door and opened it. He heard some loud noises. Jimmy turned towards him.
"Wait–You're here? Then, who was that?" He looked outside the window.
"Who?"
"A guy who looked exactly like you, he just broke in from the window and pointed a knife at Axel. He even tried to kill me, while he was doing that, Axel ran away through the window and he went after him... What the fuck is going on?"
'Someone who looks like me?' Slaine ran down stairs and Jimmy followed him, "Get on your BMX"
"Okay!"
Slaine picked up his longboard and ran outside the house. By then, Jimmy was already waiting for him on his BMX.
"Which way?"
"That!" Jimmy pointed towards the right and they rushed their wheels.
"There he is!"
Axel was on his skates, sliding through a steep terrace while a boy in a white hoodie followed him on a skateboard.
Slaine went on the other side of the street, almost avoiding hit by a truck. Jimmy decided to stay on the same side on his BMX. He found a ramp and got on top of the roof of a building. They were all parkouring throughout the city roofs.
Finally, he caught Axel.
"Yohoo!" Jimmy jumped from one of the roof and landed on him with his BMX.
"You 'kay?" He asked Axel and he just nodded his head. Slaine reached them on his longboard.
Axel looked at him, "Wait, you're here? So who is this?"
"I caught him," Jimmy smiled with his tongue hanging between his lips.
"Yeah, good job," Slaine said.
"Thanks daddy~" Jimmy laughed.
"Ugh! Get up, fatass," The white-hoodue boy said.
"Fatass?!" Jimmy looked at his butt.
"Looks like gym is failing you," Axel said.
"Or just the fact that you're standing on a guy with a BMX," Slaine said.
"No fucking way..."
He got up and removed his mask. Slaine looked at him.
It felt as if he was looking inside an old mirror, the one where he saw eighteen year old him before his eyes. A Slaine from two years back, dressed up in a black turtleneck and a white, translucent hoodie with a red jersey beneath and black shoes. He held a blue knife in his hand.
He looked at Slaine, "...Hey, you just look like me..." He walked towards Slaine.
"WHAT THE FUCK–TWO SLAINES?" Axel shouted.
"Who are you?"
"Are you from the past?" Slaine asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Do you know what year it is?"
"20XX?"
"Oh, so you're from two years back,"
"What are you saying?"
Slaine pressed his hand on his chest, "I'm Slaine Benjamin, twenty years old, working adult. I work at a skateboarding academy. And this is year 20XX, you are in the future,"
"...What? Stop messing with my head. I'm pretty sure you're some sort of conman trying to trick–"
"Your middle name is Brussels," Slaine said.
"Fuck,"
