Chapter 1

"Morning!" Emma chirps as she linked her arms with her best friend, "What's going on?"

"Em, if something was going on you would be the first person to know." Gia replied, "So no, nothing's happening."

"Except for the fact that we're back as Rangers and that new guy is a creep." A voice reminded them briefly.

Both girls heard their goofball of a teammate catch up to them.

"Yeah, who could forget that?" Emma rhetorically asked.

"It's kinda hard not to." Jake replied anyway, "But it's fun being a superhero, having a double life and secret identity."

"It's not fun you're nearly getting killed constantly." Gia spoke.

"Eh details." Jake shrugged off.

"Do any one of you have water?" Gia questioned.

Her boyfriend shook his head, "I'd totally share if I could, but no. I can't believe they made us go to school anyway. It's like burning fire right now."

"It's not that bad." Emma disagreed.

Her friends gave her an amazed look.

"Really?" Jake inquired.

"You're not hot at all?" Gia asked.

Her best friend shook her head. The straight A blonde began to touch her. From her arms to her back, she became surprised at her findings, "You're not even sweating."

"Guys, I'm a phoenix." Emma told them, "I run on heat. The only way it'll hurt me is if it reaches past 100°. Gosei told me that. He also said that dragons and phoenixes can be savages when it comes to food, so to be safe do not take me or Troy to a buffet for a while."

The other two Rangers glanced at one another.

"Good to know." Jake retorted.

He put an arm around his girlfriend as her best friend let go. Class didn't start for another twenty minutes, so the three casually walked inside the building. Students were either talking to each other or just chilling. Teachers did the same while others grabbed breakfast. The trio headed to their lockers to place their stuff inside. Meanwhile, a more school-loving teen was walking on the sidewalk. He was just texting one of his pals.

Orion: Gosei told me to tell you guys to meet after school.

Noah: K. Why?

Orion: Idk. He just said it's important. Hey, why does this thing keep dinging every time something comes up?

The blue ranger chuckled since he knew his friend hadn't completely figured out his new device. He understood it mostly, it was just the little things.

Noah: They're called notifications. It dings like that so you know that something popped up.

Orion: Oh, that makes sense.

The glasses wearing teen had been paying attention to his phone so long that he didn't realize that a car was following him. His head had only turned slightly before he saw two people watching him. He jumped a little, making the two laugh.

"Hi Einstein." the redhead began to speak to him, "Do you like the heat too? I would think you'd melt by now since literally no one else is wearing pants."

"Nice to see you too Savannah." Noah greeted back, "My bus never showed and my parents have to work."

"And staying home wasn't an option because?" Savannah questioned.

"Perfect attendance." Troy answered, "It's been like that since second grade."

"Wait, aren't you all seniors?" She gave him a look.

"Yeah, but I don't enough money for a car yet." Noah told her.

She nodded and pointed towards him, "Don't expect me to be your personal driver. I've got my own life to deal with." Noah rolled his eyes and smiled as the leather jacket wearing teen stepped out of the vehicle. He grabbed his stuff and made his way to the sidewalk to join him, "Same thing goes for you too, wolfie. If I wanted to be an uber driver, I would've applied."

Troy chuckled a little, "I won't be calling, I wouldn't want to interrupt your daily...whatever it is that you do."

"Which is a lot, and I doubt you could compare." Savannah said.

"That goes both ways." Troy counteracted as he glanced at Noah, "Trust me."

"It's cute how you think we could relate." Savannah spoke as her former passenger raised an eyebrow, "You're not even scratching the surface."

The highly intelligent young man looked between the two while biting back a smile. The redhead pulled down her sunglasses, revealing those blue oceanic eyes the new kid secretly yearned for. A wink came from her before she pulled off, with a small grin forming on her face. Once they saw that she was out of sight, both boys headed for the doors.

"She's interesting." Noah commented.

"That's one way to put it." Troy agreed, "But yeah, yeah she is."

He felt an oncoming smile approaching. Failing to stop it, his thoughts began to race. There was this feeling that surfaced when she was in his presence. He hadn't felt it in so long that some may say it's sad. Sad but true. Although, he couldn't completely define what it was. It was a mystery and he liked it that way. The answer to it...well, he would have to decide if he likes it or not based on what it is. A nudge on his shoulder brought him back to reality.

"Are you two friends now?" Noah inquired.

Troy shrugged, "I guess, but I don't think I can say that until we get to know each other more."

"Fair enough." Noah agreed, "And just so you know, I'm not Jake. I won't tease you for liking anybody."

The red ranger gave him a surprised, weird look as the two entered the building, "You think I-"

"I didn't say you did." Noah cut him off, "But that doesn't mean I'm blind to what I see."

"See what?" Someone asks.

The two Rangers had one arm wrap around their shoulders from behind.

"See nothing nosy." Troy shut him down before he could ask questions, "Now don't forget we have to meet at the Command Center after school."

"Why?" Jake queried.

"Gosei said he needed to talk to us." Noah retorted.

His best friend nodded as the trio of young men headed to their first period class.

Lurking from above, a man was observing the city. This was his ninth stop in three days. He viewed how humans interacted and how they did things. Society was not strange to him. The way it worked on this planet was simply new. The older male hopped off from the rooftop. He landed on his feet. Looking around, the alien made his way down the street. He passed numerous buildings and even found a nearby park. And parks were always filled with with something he could never love nor hate. CHILDREN.
The sight of them was odd and heartwarming. All the laughter brought a petite smile to his face. That is when he sighed and took out his blaster. A car was coming into view. Unsuspiciously looking out in front of him, he aimed and blew up the vehicle. The sound of it grabbed the attention of many people. The man quickly put his weapon away so no one would see it. Shocked faces covered the area while the person responsible went out of sight. But as he was walking away, he heard a scream from behind.

"MY CAR!" The owner shouted.

The alien smirked.
