Chapter Two - A New Kind of Sunset

A/N Happy Early Valentine's Day everybody! I'm too impatient, so I'm posting this now to have some aimless fluff and stuff because I love fluff and I'm a hopeless romantic, haha. Enjoy!

Astounded, the brown femme looked around wildly as she tried to take everything in at once. Her helm turned wildly as she stared at everything she saw, from the fliers in the skies to the cybertronians that walked around on the sides of the streets, and the many vehicles that drove past her. A ways away was what looked like a subway, and more mechs and femmes climbed on and off of it before its doors sealed and it left the station.

The sun was at its highest peak, and the untarnished metal surface on the planet glistened as the natural light reflected on the clear surface. "It's so beautiful." She whispered, optics wide as a smile slipped upon her faceplate. "Much nicer than the medical bay if I'm honest." Her voice was mischievous and she giggled as they stood outside the building that had acted as a sort of prison in a sense for Hina. She had been less so aware of her surroundings when suffering from a programming virus, and it had been the middle of the lunar cycle when they got to Cybertron, so she didn't remember seeing any of this when she'd arrived.

Grinning, Drift walked right behind Hina as he placed both servos upon her shoulders. "Come on... I want to show you something." He said, capturing her servo in his own as they walked down the side of the street, pushing past other cybertronians and hurrying through the streets as if they were in a hurry. "Gotta keep up!" He encouraged her, looking over his shoulder to make sure that she was still with him, even if he was still holding her servo in the crowd.

Hina laughed, putting just a little bit of extra stamina in her steps as she hurried along with Drift, laughing when he ran into an alley and ducked underneath a hole in the wall, letting go of her servo as he did so. As much as this seemed forbidden, and just not allowed on Cybertron, she allowed herself to bask in the moment of fun Drift had brought her, and Hina ducked under the same gap, only to see an expectant Drift leaning against the ridge of what appeared to be an overhanging cliff. "Slow-poke," He teased, before starting to ascend the path that seemed to be carved into the hillside, leaving a slightly frazzled femme to follow him.

Ignoring the feeling that she should've stayed in the city, and convinced Drift that sneaking out was not the wisest course of action, Hina hurried up the way Drift had gone, somehow only able to catch the briefest glimpse of his ped, or the shine of his armor every so often to assure her that she was not alone in her misbehavior. When she emerged at the clearing overlooking Iacon, with Drift nowhere to be found, she panicked, spark beating frantically until a familiar mech swooped in and kissed her forehelm, which she was more relieved to feel than she'd admit.

When he separated himself from her, Drift backed away playfully, gesturing to the ground behind him. With her short-lived panic gone, Hina noticed that Drift, being the romantic he was, had set up a picnic for her, as the Cybertronian sun slowly sank on the horizon. "You didn't!" She exclaimed, not believing her optics as she looked between Drift and the set-up on the ground.

With a know-it-all smile that made her want to crush him in a tight hug, Drift spoke gently, though he seemed fairly proud of himself. "Oh, but I did." He said slyly, guiding her to the blanket upon the ground where he sat down, and she landed in his lap, giggling as he wrapped both arms around her as she looked at the many assorted means of energon consumption, some of which she highly suspected were sweets, and other things that weren't exactly the best for her own health, but Hina seriously doubted that she would care even if they tasted horrible. Drift, despite his constant protests otherwise, was perfect, and he made her unbelievably happy, no matter the circumstances they were in.

"Open up," he commanded slyly, holding a blue-pinkish cube with two digits in front of her. Hina complied, shutting her optics and letting her jaw drop, surprised when she felt something soft and slightly squishy in her mouth. Letting her optics flutter open, she slowly chewed the treat, relishing in the amazing taste that came with it. "Any good?" Drift asked, though he hardly needed to ask from the expression on her faceplate. "They're my favorites..."

Smiling at him with shining optics, Hina pecked his cheek reassuringly, calm and collected about the entire affair. "Well, I like them a lot, Drift." She said, snatching one up from the container she saw and popping one in Drift's mouth as he attempted to speak. "You read my mind."

Drift smiled, briefly pressing his lips to her cheek once more, nuzzling her neck with such raw affection, she would've flushed dark blue if she wasn't used to his constant desire to be cuddly and close to her. "It seems to become a habit, now doesn't it, Hina?" He asked rhetorically, letting the carbon gas in his cooling systems loose once more.

"Stop it, or I'm going to eat you instead of these amazing-" Hina cut herself off, trying to recall any sort of name he'd mentioned, but none came to mind. "Well, I don't know what they are, but they're good, and I'd rather keep you alive for now, Drift." She teased, snickering as he looked at her, unsure of whether to laugh with her, or run for his life.

"Perhaps this may change your mind..." Drift suggested, popping another energon sweet in her mouth playfully, having come to the conclusion that Hina was truly no threat, even with her bo-staff of death, and just about everything else her upgrade had given her. "Better?"

Nodding, Hina looked at the many other assorted cybertronian morsels that were laid out before them. Reluctantly swallowing the treat that she'd rather have enjoyed for a much longer time, she turned to Drift and smiled at his flattering grin. "Anything else you might suggest I try?" The femme asked wryly, giggling when Drift offered her something that looked like metallic bacon.

"Rust sticks?" He offered slyly, breaking a piece off with ease and holding it in front of her. Giggling, she opened her mouth and as soon as he popped it in her mouth, she could taste the strange, slightly spicy in a sort of weird way, but delicious piece of the rust stick that seemed to be like a Cybertronian version of hard candy. Drift snagged a piece for himself, and she giggled as he seemed to relish in its amazing taste. "I like these ones too...!" He muttered, throwing another piece at her, which she skillfully caught with her mouth as if it were no big deal.

Drift gave her a skeptical look, almost as if he hadn't meant for her to catch it. "What? Toma threw stuff at me all the time; it was usually food, and I was usually hungry." She said, as if it was normal to do things such as that.

Unfortunately, he did not seem to understand. "Why would you so foolishly attempt to waste food, and your sources of energy?" He asked, processor whirring as he attempted to comprehend her behavior. Shrugging, she gave him a small smile as she took a bite out of the rust stick that had just been in Drift's servo. "Hey, that's my-"

"-No." She said simple, giggling when he looked at her with uncertain optics. "I'm eating it now, so it's mine."

If Drift had a processor that was anything like Prowl's own infamous one, he would've glitched some time ago. "You are acting rather strange..." he finally said, a smile slipping onto his faceplate as he shook his helm fondly. "Has Ratchet truly been that insufferable?"

With a groan of false pain, Hina flung herself onto her back and groaned placing a servo over her optics dramatically as she blocked out the bright sunlight. "Ratchet is the devil's spawn, even if he is a miracle worker." She complained, crossing her legs propped up on Drift's and relaxing. "It's a miracle you managed to rescue me from his ever so dangerous grasp. I was afraid he'd actually honored his word and killed you."

That got Drift's attention. "Please - As if Ratchet could one-up me of all the mechs on Cybertron." He bragged, acting quite full of himself for effect, even if he was more of the humble type. "Besides, I have my charm, and my quick thinking processor to back me up." The samurai added, grinning like the crazy mech he truly was.

"You're absolutely crazy." She said, rolling her optics and sitting up once more.

Laughing, he shook his helm and lifted Hina so that she sat completely in grasp before he pointed out the colorful scheme on the horizon. "I may be crazy, but I'm nothing else if I'm not the romantic you seem to forget I am." The sun slowly sank down and below the horizon, and Drift did not miss the look of awe on Hina's faceplate as she watched with extreme interest.

The sun reflected in her optics as it shimmered and began to dim, leaving the lights of the city of to turn on, gradually growing brighter beneath the cliffside as the planet darkened from the lack of its sun's natural lights. It was a spectacular sight to see, and though it was hardly anything like the sunsets on Earth, for the two of them had seen quite a few, but it was beautiful in its own way, even if organic nature on Cybertron was extremely lacking. The metallic planet had its own beautiful taste to it, and even though it wasn't completely like Earth, Cybertron was Drift's home, and it would soon be Hina's, as long as she grew to learn and love everything about it.

After all, with the many sights and celebrations, and his very own Cybertronian charm, why would she not want to call the world her new home? Drift could only truly hope it was enough, though to him, he was more than hopeful that she would adapt, for in his optics, he was absolutely certain.
