     Elise held her phone tightly as she brought it up to her ears. All that was heard was the constant ringing until it stopped and there was static noise.

     "You've answered!" There was a smile that could be heard in Elijah's voice.

     Elise didn't know what to say, she hadn't heard that voice of his in months, nor had she been on the phone with him since he— or his ex had blocked him.

     "Hello?" Elijah was confused about why he hadn't heard a response.

     "Hello..." Elise spoke, holding herself tight as she sat on her bed looking around her room trying to calm down her nerves.

     "Elise..." There was a small pause, "Elise I need help."

for fuck's sake.

     "What's wrong Elijah?!" Worry began to fill her head. Was he in danger? Why the hell was he calling her if that was the case?

     "I drank too much and I don't have money for an Uber."

     "Seriously." Elise's heart relaxed once she found out he was not in harm's way. "I thought you were dying or something."

     "No, but can you come pick me up?"

     "Can't you ask one of your mates to call you an Uber?"

     "No, 'cause then they'll make me confront her." Elijah's breathing got faster every other sentence, which led him to speed up his words.

     "Confront who?"

     "Can you just pick me up Neli?"

     Elise hadn't heard anyone call her that in months. Mainly because Elijah was the only person who called her that and they hadn't talked in months. And maybe she gave in too easily but the second she heard him call her that she got up and went to pick him up.

As she slowed down she saw Elijah leaning on the side of a phone booth smoking a cigarette. She felt her heart speeding up, and her grip on the steering wheel got tighter. She took in a few deep breaths before she got out of the car and walked up to him.

     "Neli!" He scurried towards her giving her the tightest hug known to man. She was nearly about to suffocate until he let go.

     "Get in the car." She told him, watching the smile from his face fade. She watched as he walked to the passenger side slightly tripping over his own feet. She rushed over to him after he nearly planted his face into the road.

     "Come on." She opened the door for him, helping him get into the passenger seat. The second he sat down his body relaxed and his eyes closed.

     Getting in the car, Elise began to drive back to her apartment.
There was little to no conversation between her and Elijah and she was somewhat thankful for that, but when there was it was very short.

     "Where are we going?" He asked.

     "My apartment."

     "Thank you, Neli. That girl is fucking crazy." Elijah looked at Elise as she smirked in response to what he had said.

     Suddenly the car had stopped and they were in front of Elise's apartment complex. She helped him get out and brought him to her apartment.

     As he settled into the couch Elise brought him a glass of water. She sat down beside him which had felt super weird and made her extremely nervous.

     "I'm sorry." Elijah rested his head on Elise's shoulder as if it was normal for him to do so. "I should've known she was crazy after she made me block you."

     "I tried to tell you," Elise spoke making herself a little comfortable knowing she'd be sitting there for a while.

     "I'm really am sorry." He said before his breathing got heavy and he slowly drifted to sleep.
