Yesternight

I walked outside my palace,
A shimmering white pearl,
Into a blackened street
That sparkled with pits of fire
Was it a celebration ?
Or perhaps a joyous turn?

A shriek!
A scream!
The sound of guns and bombs.

I closed the door and silenced the war.
It wasn't my fight, I needn't care.
A flash! A thunder! Swirls of dust.
White rubble lay around the blackened street.
Faraway a man closed the door,
It wasn't his fight, He needn't care...
