In Agreement; Daniel LaRusso (Part 16)
Of course, Kreese didn't tell me what Silver was planning. What does he even want now? He already won the tournament.
These thoughts raced through Daniel's mind as he returned home. When he reached the front steps, he saw that the door had been left ajar.
Was the house broken into again?
He readied himself for a fight, both arms bent at the elbows and both hands in a chopping position.
He gently kicked the door open and stepped inside, looking both ways.
"Amanda?" he called, heading into the kitchen slowly.
Today was not the day for Cobra Kai to be attacking the LaRusso house.
"I'm in here," responded Amanda from the living room.
He sighed a breath of relief and headed in her direction.
At least, there's not that to deal with too, today.
She was sitting up on their white sofa, her shoes kicked off and her feet on the ottoman. Her gaze was focused on something upstairs.
"Did something happen while I was gone?" asked Daniel as he sat down next to her.
"There was an incident with Sam and the other kids while at a friend's fundraiser," explained Amanda, sighing.
Daniel's face tensed up and he clenched his fists, a knowing expression on his face.
"Cobra Kai?" confirmed Daniel, though he doubted the question even needed to be asked.
If something bad happens, it's always because of Cobra Kai.
Amanda nodded, rubbing her temple.
"Are the kids okay?"
"I think so. Sam said one of them got pretty hurt, though."
I knew that making the deal with Kreese and Terry put the dojo at jeopardy, but did it put the kids' safety outside of the tournament at jeopardy too?
There were a few moments of silence, Daniel and Amanda mulling over their options in their heads.
"What if I asked Chozen to train the kids?" offered Daniel.
He was fully prepared for Amanda to roll her eyes or say no. I mean, he couldn't even fully say that it was a good idea, but maybe it would at least give the kids a fighting chance.
"I agree," stated Amanda, looking back at her husband.
"Wait, did you just say that you agreed with me?" confirmed Daniel, skeptically.
"I know, it's weird for me to say too," joked Amanda, sarcastically.
Daniel smiled at his wife admiringly.
She's always been a lot more levelled headed than I've ever been so, if she agrees then, it must be right.
"I know I don't tend to agree with you on this whole "karate war" thing you do with your high school rival (Daniel rolled his eyes when she said high school rival), but at this point, the kids have already been drug into this fight by that psychopath, John Kreese, and now he has an equally crazy partner. I just think that the more protection these kids can have, the better," explained Amanda honestly.
Daniel nodded, understandingly.
He wanted to protect Sam of course, she's his daughter. But all his students needed to know how to protect themselves from the growing threat that Cobra Kai had become. Not even Daniel himself could prepare them for the fight that was soon to come. But he'd have to do it in secret.
"I'll tell Sam tomorrow," said Daniel, yawning.
Amanda leaned her head on his shoulder and slowly they both began to fall asleep.
