Part 29: Full Circle; Daniel LaRusso

"Lookin just as fine as usual," thought Daniel aloud as he tightened his tie in his circular wooden standing bedroom mirror.

He was dressed in a velvet blue tuxedo paired with a patriotic red and white tie. The most important part of his appearance, though, was his finely polished black dress shoes.

Haven't worn these since Robby practiced his first Miyagi-Do lessons on them two years ago.

And woah, had it been a heck of a two years, not that Daniel really had the time to mull over all his recent successes and failures. But one thing was for sure, he missed having Robby around for his gentle company.

The people who say kids can't teach us anything clearly have never had one, because all the kids I know are about one hundred percent smarter than I'll ever be.

"If that's how good you think you look then I must be just stunning," quipped Amanda, strutting into their bedroom sporting a thick-strapped emerald green knee-length dress.

"Indescribably so, yes," smiled Daniel, grabbing his wife gently by the hips before pulling her in for a kiss.

Her wavy brunette hair brushed against his face as their lips met, caringly.

She's just one of the many things I have to be grateful for.

"You know, I could do this all day, but I'm pretty sure that the kids would miss us too much," smiled Daniel as he slowly retracted from their romantic kiss.

"I think the bigger problem would be the fact that they wouldn't miss us," argued Amanda, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, we should get going," agreed Daniel, his mind already jumping to Sam and Miguel's so-called "training" in the Miyagi dojo.

Can't really be angry when I tried pulling that one so many times with Mr. Myagi, but I guess that's just life's way of bringing things full circle.

They met their two kids out in the living room a few minutes later. Sam was dressed in a strapless, lavender dress that fell just above where Daniel would have preferred on her legs. Anthony seemed to have gone for a much more classic look. He wore a simple black tux with a matching tie.

Honestly, I'm just glad that he's actually wearing the tie this time.

"You both look amazing," complimented Daniel, squeezing his daughter's shoulders, proudly.

"Thanks, dad," smiled Sam, feeling simultaneously embarrassed and happy.

"Yeah, you don't look too bad for an old man either," remarked Anthony, smirking at his father.

"I hope you don't think you're going to get away with saying that to me, young man," confirmed Amanda as she grabbed her purse from the living room sofa.

"Definitely not," Anthony responded quickly, replacing his sarcastic tone with a more respectful one.

Daniel and Sam just laughed, knowing that they'd make the same decision if asked how Amanda looked.

Never fight Amanda LaRusso because she'll hit harder than any karate move you think you've learned.

"So, are we leaving now? Just because Miguel and Johnny are already at the party," asked Sam, her blue ballerina shoes clicking against the ground nervously.

"Yeah, wouldn't wanna keep your boyfriend waiting," said Anthony, mockingly.

"Okay, guys, I think it's time to go," stated Daniel, defusing their sibling rivalry before it escalated.

As they headed out to the car, Daniel felt a sudden sinking sensation in the pit of his stomach. One that he only got when Cobra Kai was about to do something bad.

"Hey, Amanda. You don't think that Silver's going to be at this party, do you?" asked Daniel, stopping her in their tracks a few inches behind their silver sedan.

"Daniel, please don't do this again," sighed Amanda, rolling her eyes.

"Yes, I know that you're going to say that I'm paranoid and I'm sure that's somewhat true..."

"Somewhat true?" questioned Amanda, once again raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, completely true, but still. You can't deny that it would be a perfect time for him to strike," protested Daniel, throwing his hands down in frustration.

"Sure, that might be true, but you can't just sit around waiting for them to "strike" you. You have to keep living your life and just be prepared that it'll happen at some point, like it always does," explained Amanda, smiling back at him.

"Yeah, you're probably right," conceded Daniel, nodding his head.

"I've been getting that a lot these days," joked Amanda, patting him gently on the back before getting into the car.

She's right. I can't let Silver get in my head, not again. Especially when everything I need is standing right in front of me.
