Part 2: The Fire; Samantha LaRusso

"Things are finally beginning to feel normal again," thought Sam as she turned right on the dirt road to the Miyagi-Do dojo. Her dad had agreed to train her and the other Miyagi-Dos so they could defend themselves against Cobra Kai's attacks as they expanded across the Valley and she felt like she had already started to vastly improve her skills with his new teachings, along with the help of his old enemy from Okinawa, Chozen Toguchi.

If I can combine that with my Eagle Fang skills then, Tory won't stand a chance next time we fight.

As she focused her attention back on the road, her vision was engulfed by red and orange flames. Streams of fire blazed wildly on top of the dojo's roof, wooden boards crackling as they burned to ash. The vintage cars parked in the front lot were covered in small bits of debris, from burnt twigs to broken branches. As she rushed out of her car, an even more frightening thought came to her mind.

Dad! He said he was staying late to set up for training tomorrow! What if he's still in there?

She looked around frantically, trying to see if she could get any glimpse of the inside of the dojo without just running into the flames but the fire was too bright. Without another thought, she pulled her white and pink-striped blouse over her mouth and slowly moved forward. The acrid air made her splutter as she carefully walked through the entrance of the dojo. The beautiful paper sliding doors that once guarded the sacred dojo shriveled up under the fire's intense pressure.

I have to find him and get out of here.

As she looked around, she saw a large hole near the back door that someone seemed to have smashed through.

Someone must have attacked him but, they'd have to be heartless to try and burn the place down, especially with him in it.

Her worry built with every second as she moved over to examine the hole, stepping over a charred bowstave. Now that she was closer, it was clear that someone had smashed through the wall from its size. From the small view of the backyard that was visible through the hole, she saw that a large apple blossom tree had fallen in the center of the yard. A soft sizzling could still be heard as the tree's trunk was burned.

But if he's not inside then, he has to be somewhere in the yard.

She felt her lungs tighten as she tried to step forward. Then, a strong hand grasped her shoulder and pulled her to her feet.

"We must go!" commanded Chozen as he ushered her out the front doors.

Sam would have protested but she found herself out of breath just standing up next to him.

As soon as they exited the fiery dojo, Sam's vision started to go blurry and she passed out, her gentle head slumping onto the dirt ground outside the fire's wrath.

When she woke up, she found herself sprawled out on the couch in her house's living room.

She couldn't remember who had saved her, only the overwhelming feelings of worry that had consumed her.

How long was I out for?

"Mom, Sam's up!" shouted Anthony from in an armchair next to Sam where he was texting with a friend.

"Oh, thank god!" breathed Amanda as she pulled Sam into a hug.

"Where's dad?" asked Sam worriedly.

"Your dad's safe, thanks to Chozen but he's at the hospital," explained Amanda.

The words seemed incomprehensible. Ever since Sam was a kid, he'd always seemed so invincible, both physically and spiritually. No matter what happened, he'd always found a solution to their problems.

But if he can't beat Cobra Kai, who can?

"Can I see him?" asked Sam, hopefully.

"Of course, honey but first, you need to get some rest," instructed Amanda, kissing her daughter on the top of her head before leaving the room with Anthony.

She laid back down on the couch, sighing deeply.

I just wish that I could stop Cobra Kai once and for all so they couldn't hurt Miguel, or my dad, or anyone else again.
