The Right Kind of Wrong

Summary:
Jungkook has left the dating scene for quite a while and thinks that maybe it's time to get his feet back on it and agrees upon his friend's request to set him up on a blind date. It's his first time going on a blind date, and he may or may not have seated himself on the wrong table.

"How do I look?" he asks as he looks at himself in the mirror, checking his hair, smoothing down the fabric on his body.
Taehyung eyes him from head to toe and purses his lips, head nodding in approval. "Dashing. Pretty sure love at first sight is going to happen tonight."
Jungkook's lips curve into a small proud smile and he turns around, says his thanks to Taehyung for his help on everything before he walks out of the house and settles himself in his car.
It has been a while since Jungkook goes out of his house for a date. For two years, he has busied himself with college and work, and he has been happy about it. No regrets whatsoever. But he has to admit that he needs his special someone too and that he's been feeling lonely recently when all of his friends are hanging out with their own partners.
He arrives at the restaurant a few minutes later and a smile adorns his face as he steps inside, patting his shirt a little as he tries to find someone with long hair, slightly chubby cheeks with a pretty and cute face as what Taehyung has described earlier.
And he spots her right away.
In the middle of everyone, she is sitting alone, fingers drumming on the table as her head turns around slowly from left to right while her lips are pressed into a thin line. Her hair is like the color of fire which makes her stands out from the rest of the people in the restaurant. With slow but confident steps, he approaches her with a smile on his face.
"You must be my date for tonight," Jungkook says as soon as he stands facing her, one hand on the chair but has not pulled it yet.
The beautiful woman looks up at him and takes a few seconds before she stands up with probably the prettiest grin on her face. She holds out her hand and he takes it in his. Soft, he thinks. He almost raises her hand towards his lips.
"I'm Roseanne Park," she introduces herself.
"And I'm Jeon Jungkook," he replies, gaze never leaving her eyes. "Pleasure to see you tonight."
They sit and the typical things happen as each one of them tells stories to each other, asking questions while tasting the cuisines on the table. Honestly, Jungkook pays little to no attention to the food because Roseanne Park is such an interesting person to be his partner in conversations.
Often times Jungkook would have his focus changed to food or other things when he was in the middle of conversation with people but it is a miracle that the opposite is happening right at that moment. He can proudly say that he clicks with her faster than an eye can blink.
When Roseanne reveals to him that she has a habit to give people nicknames as soon as she meets them, he secretly hopes that she already has one cute nickname for him because he already has one for her running around in his head. If tonight is not going to be their last time seeing each other, he is so going to tell her that they should call each other using the nicknames they have in their head.
"Shall we go for a walk?" he asks as soon as they're finished with everything and he feels himself grinning widely when Roseanne sticks her hand out for him to hold in a teasing way. With a chuckle, Jungkook slips his hand into hers and holds her firmly as they walk side by side in small steps. "Do you drive here?"
"No, my friend dropped me off here."
Jungkook nods before a slow smirk manages to carve on his face. "So, is it okay if I send you home? But not now. I still haven't had enough of you," he winks and hopes that he's not going overboard with it.
Roseanne looks down and chuckles before her teeth sink down the flesh of her lower lip. She looks up at him and he can literally see the playful side of her by just looking at her eyes.
"I would love that," she says and wraps the fingers from her free hand around his arm and he feels proud of himself all of a sudden. He has a good feeling about this.
"So... how long have you known Taehyung?" Jungkook asks. Taehyung never mentioned it to him before and once he's home today, he's going to slap his friend for not introducing Roseanne earlier to him. If he'd known that Taehyung has a gorgeous friend, he'd go as far as kneeling to beg Taehyung to set him up on a date with her long ago.
She blinks a few times before a smile decorates her face. Jungkook figures next that the smile is going to be one of his favorite things to see in the world. Oh he is definitely smitten, he thinks.
"Oh, Taehyun is my childhood friend," she answers. "Basically, I've known him since forever."
Oh, how he finds it cute that even Taehyung has a nickname. He can't wait for his turn to get his own nickname.
If Taehyung is called Taehyun, he wonders what he will be called. Will he get the same pattern like Taehyung, only missing the last letter in his name? Will he be called Jungkoo? Kook-kook? Well, whatever she thinks suits him best, he will gladly accept it even though it may sound weird.
"You must be special to him that he never mentioned you before," Jungkook lifts a brow teasingly and smirks as he says, "Well, if I was him, I'd keep you a secret from all my friends too."
Roseanne is quiet for a few moments and Jungkook thinks he's gone too far with the flirting. It's been a while since he's done this. It used to be one of his talents but sadly, it has been out of the list. He is just about to say his apology but when Roseanne beams at him one second, and the next she is already laughing shyly, he knows that an apology is not necessary.
"Well, you must be special to him too," she says after a while. "Like I said, I've known him since forever. It's amazing to know that someone in his friend list is able to call him 'Tae' and 'hyung'. I swear he will chop my head off if he hears me call him 'Tae'," she says with a laugh and continues, "Once, there was this new boy in the neighborhood called him 'Tae hyung', he got pissed and threatened that kid that he was going to smash his mouth with a brick if he was going to call Taehyun 'Tae hyung' or even 'hyung'."
Jungkook's brows are furrowed until she finished her little story. Something doesn't feel right.
He has known Taehyung since high school but he knows that his friend isn't someone who would be pissed for getting his name shortened. He has also heard some people call Taehyung 'hyung' before but none of them has fallen into a victim of threats.
His phone vibrates in his pocket and he glances to see Taehyung's name on the screen.
"Um... Excuse me," Jungkook says. "I need to answer this."
Roseanne smiles up at him and murmurs a soft 'okay' as she lets his hand go. Jungkook walks away from her a few steps towards a building and slowly presses the phone against his ear while he faces the wall.
"Where are you?!" Taehyung shouts from the other line.
Jungkook doesn't need to think further because that has just confirmed his suspicion earlier. "Taehyung, I need to ask you something. Do you know anyone named... Rose - Roseanne Park?" he asks in an almost whispery voice, a little bit of stuttering.
"Who the heck is that flower? Are you lost or you're just an asshole? My friend has been waiting in the restaurant for ages!"
Jungkook gulps and glances at Roseanne who is now holding her phone, brows furrowing as she stares at the screen of her phone. A second before he tries to turn away, she looks up and meets his eyes. They stare at each other for what it feels like an eternity. He hears Taehyung, still talking on the phone in panic. He doesn't know if it is reflex or he just find it unnecessary to listen to Taehyung any longer that leads him to press his thumb over the screen, ending the call.
He watches as Roseanne fidgets on her feet and he approaches her.
"Do we have...the same friend?" she asks hesitantly.
Jungkook doesn't know how to answer that so he blurts out Taehyung's full name instead. "Kim Taehyung..."
She has her mouth opened, eyes blinking a few times before she asks in a low voice, "Not... Nam Taehyun?"
Jungkook bites his lips and shakes his head. She let out a soft gasp.
"Oh my God," she breathes and he sees how flushed her face is. "What...what should I do?" She looks up at him. "What should we do?"
If Jungkook has to be completely honest to her, he really doesn't know what to do to fix the situation. But what he's sure of is that he doesn't think it would be a wise thing to do to let a girl as fine as Roseanne Park go despite their meeting being a mistake.
Well, technically, it is a mistake but then Jungkook believes the saying 'Nothing in life is a mistake' and that God has a better plan for him than Taehyung has.

"He's not here," Jennie sighs. "I've been here for a decade and for a decade, my table has only me."
"Wait, I'm going to –"
"You know what? Forget it. Luck has never been on my side when it comes to dating anyway," she laughs dryly and ends the call even before her friend can speak one more word and walks out of the restaurant with a solemn expression on her face. She stands for a while outside of the building, taking in the air and sighs heavily before she hears someone on her side talking loudly to the phone.
"No, there is no next time. This is like the third time I've been stood up and I'm not going to – No, I said no. No thanks. I appreciate it but just forget it. Do you even – no thanks!"
Jennie's eyes widen in surprise when the man snaps at his phone.
The man groans and crouches down, tugging on his hair. "Nothing will work out, Taehyun. Nothing! I have bad luck when it comes to dating! Whatever, I'll just stay single forever. It's best that way."
He ends the call and grunts as he shoves his phone into his pocket. Jennie subconsciously chuckles. He reminds her of her own situation and when she glances at him, he is looking at her with eyes narrowed.
"Why are you laughing?"
Jennie clamps her mouth shut, but a smile is so threatening to pull at her face. "Nothing."
"It's not nice, you know, laughing at someone else's..." he pauses and sighs. She doesn't feel intimidated by that reply seeing as how he is staring down, shoulders slumped and looks like he's going to get sucked to the ground at any second.
"I am actually laughing at myself," she tells him, a small chuckle escapes her. "Trust me, the situation I am in now is as bad as yours."
"What do you mean?"
Jennie isn't always someone who would open up to a stranger but here she is telling him a little piece of her life story. "My friend set me up on a blind date with his friend but that guy didn't show up," she reveals and finds herself smiling as she thinks back at all her previous attempts at blind dates. She has never seen any of their faces. Jennie looks at the stranger with the attractive manly voice and smiles. "In fact, this is like a déjà vu because I swear this thing has happened to me before," she laughs.
The stranger quiets himself for a few moments and Jennie stays rooted at where she's standing. He stands up, clears his throat and shoves one hand into his pocket. The other hand then stretches towards her and she looks at it, confused.
"Have been unlucky in love for the rest of my life," he says with dimpled smile. "I am Kim Namjoon."
Jennie stares at his hand for a little bit more before her face breaks into a smile and she takes his hand for a gentle handshake. "Jennie Kim, icon of unluckiness in dating."
Namjoon smiles brightly at her in return and takes out his phone. He is typing something with a face full of smile and it makes her curious. "What are you doing?"
He averts his attention towards her for a moment and his smile is the cutest she'd seen in a man. "Bragging to my friend that a miracle happened."
Jennie lets out a chuckle as she watches him nodding, probably satisfied with the text he has typed. Her own phone rang a second later and she inhales softly to answer Taehyung's call.
"Yes?"
"Okay, my friend is probably the dumbest person alive I don't know what happened but I think he's still around there I don't think he's gone far so –"
"Taehyung," she stops him with a raised tone in her voice. "It's fine."
"What do you mean it is fine? It's not fine. You're still single."
She rolls her eyes. "Yes well, I might still be single but," she glances at Namjoon and he is already looking at her. She bites her lips and smiles at him, turning around as she whispers to the phone, "A miracle has just happened and I guess I am single but unavailable."

Jungkook furrows his brows after the call with Taehyung ends.
He has called his friend back – after minutes spent on thinking what to do – to tell him that he is going to find his supposed-to-be-date for that night to at least appear in front of her. He has a plan on ruining that night just so the girl will not want to see him anymore to avoid having any interference in the relationship he is going to build together with Roseanne. But then Taehyung told him that he doesn't need to worry about it anymore because 'a miracle happened'.
"So, what did your friend say?" Roseanne asks him, her palm on his shoulder.
Jungkook looks at her with knitted brows. "He said that... a miracle happened?"
Roseanne raises her brows. "That's funny. My friend said similar thing."
"Really?" he asks.
She hums, nodding in respond. "That means..." she trails off before she is shoved by two possibly drunk people, causing her to fall into Jungkook's arms with a loud gasp.
"Watch where you're going, man!" Jungkook shouts at the male with his eyes widening, holding Roseanne protectively with his strong arms, pressing her close to his chest.
The two strangers turn around, both of them laughing while holding each other's hand before the male shouts back, "Sorry man! I guess we're just so happy that a miracle happened tonight to both of us!"
"Yes!" the female says. "2017 is going to be a hell of a good year to us! Isn't that right, Monnie?" she giggles.
The male laughs heartily. "That is right, Jendeukie! Hey, let's get outta here," the male says, dimples showing as he wiggles his eyebrows and they giggle at each other before darting away.
Jungkook and Roseanne share a look before realizing that she is in his arms. He clears his throat and tries to see her reaction as he slowly loosens his hold on her. Instead of pushing him away, a slow grin is pulling on her face and the moment her hands are linked behind his neck, his own grin widens on his face as he links his own hands on the small of her back.
"That means it is not really a mistake after all, don't you think?" Her sultry voice is doing some dangerous thing to his heart.
He nods. "Yeah and I guess that means," he responds, gazing into her eyes with a flirty grin, "this is actually the right kind of wrong."
