Summary:
Jungkook brings confession to a whole new level when his previous attempts failed.
»»————- ♡ ————-««
"Are you exchanging love letters now?" Taehyung asks, a little bored as he rolls around Jungkook's bed before Jimin joins in.
"No," Jungkook answers simply, thinking of the best next sentence he's going to write.
"Then what are you writing? Don't tell me you're doing your homework now?"
Jungkook sighs exasperatedly. "A love letter, what else. Now stop asking me questions. I need to brainstorm."
This time, Jimin appears next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder and tries to see what he has wrote but he quickly pulls his textbook to cover it. "Dude, come on," he groans at his friend. "Some privacy, please."
"Didn't you write another one the other day?" Jimin asks, hip leaning against the table with his arms crossed.
Jungkook doesn't say a word and chooses to nod instead.
"Why are you writing another love letter? How many are you going to write anyway?"
Pressing his lips into a thin line as he leans back, he glares at Jimin as he says, "Because she didn't get the first one. And also the second one."
Jimin opens his mouth again, probably to shoot him another question but Jungkook quickly stands up and pushes both his friends out of his room. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."
Both of his friends whine and shout behind the closed door, banging their fists against the barrier a few times before they are silenced by Jungkook's older cousin, Seokjin.
The last line is the one that he doesn't need to think much because that line is the confirmed one, the one that he memorizes by heart, the one that he will never drop or change from his letters.
Will you go out with me?
He smiles at the letter after he finished writing his own name at the bottom right of the letter, with little drawings of guitar and microphone and a small heart. Perfect, he thinks to himself and kisses the letter in satisfaction.
The next morning, Jungkook is early to come to school just to slip his letter into her locker. And like a stalker he is, he watches as Park Chaeyoung, his crush for a year, opens her locker to grab some book while she talks to her friend.
An unfortunate event happens when the letter falls to the floor the moment she pulls out her book from the locker, and neither she nor her friend notices the poor letter while they are busy exchanging stories and laughing.
"No!" Jungkook hisses against the wall he's using to hide himself but at that short moment, he manages to sigh in admiration, the smile on his face can't be helped the moment Chaeyoung laughs at what her friend says. "What a goddess," he says, brows furrowing as he bites his own lip before he regains back his memory of his love letter that lies on the floor, now looking like a trash.
He has the thought of dashing towards the letter before anyone else sees it but he's a second too late when a janitor walks towards it.
Jungkook grits his teeth when his love letter is swept off the floor by the janitor. This is the third time in the week that his love letter has failed to reach her. Eventually, he agrees that love letter is not going to work and so he needs another method that's definitely going to work.
He comes up with a method the night Hoseok, his neighbor shouts through the window, telling Jungkook about his laptop crashed for the nth time because of Namjoon, the other neighbor. But that method comes with a risk though. He will either get a word as an answer, or a slap.
Possibly, a guitar will be slammed to his head, too.

"Jeon Jungkook. Come here," Jimin says, two fingers curling back and forth, eyes disappearing as he smiles a smile that holds a thousand meanings behind it.
"What is it?"
"I heard that Chaeyoung is going to join the dance club. Is that true?"
Just listening to her name being mentioned makes his heart swell. He subconsciously smiles and nods his head. Somehow, his imaginative mind has planned out scenes of when she is going to be assigned as his dance partner and he's going to show her his moves, impress her, and make her fall for him. Okay, the last one is such an exaggeration but, it's possible.
"You have to thank me," Jimin says and a sudden frown replaces the bright expression he had earlier.
"Why?"
"I told Lisa to convince Chaeyoung to join."
Jungkook gets jealous very easily and hearing that, his mind once again gives him some stuff to imagine. Like, how Chaeyoung is going to think that Jimin is interested in her. With narrowed eyes, Jungkook asks, "Why would you do that?"
Jimin's smile drops, replaced with a confused expression. "Aren't you supposed to be happy?"
Jungkook pushes his cheek using his tongue as he turns away. After being friends for years, Jimin knows it when Jungkook does that thing. He does that whenever he's upset or jealous. Chuckling, Jimin places a hand on his shoulder, "Relax. You know that I have no interest in her."
Jungkook scoffs. "Oh yeah. But she's going to think that you're interested in her."
"Dude, she doesn't even know that I was the one who asked Lisa to get her to join the club."
"But then Lisa would think that you're interested in Chaeyoung and she might try to be a cupid to match make you two," Jungkook says, totally annoyed.
Jimin sputters and slaps his shoulder. "Dude, Lisa knows your crush on her friend. She's trying to help, okay?"
Jungkook doesn't know how Lisa knows but that new fact makes his heart dance and his annoyance towards Jimin disappears almost instantly. His face is decorated with an excited expression, full of joy and happiness.
A moment later, Taehyung is running towards them with a paper in his hand and when he arrives, his hands come up to Jungkook's head and he looks at him, dead serious in the eyes.
"What are you doing?" Jungkook asks, a bit uncomfortable when people are looking.
"I need you to sing for me," Taehyung says, still trying to catch his breath.
"What?"
"Just fucking sing!" the brown-haired boy shouts at his face, earning a few looks.
"Alright, alright! Let me go." And after Taehyung lets his head go, he sings a few lines of Jason Derulo's Marry Me.
When he stops singing, Taehyung dramatically spreads his arms in the air and says to him, "I will marry you, Jeon Jungkook." And he presses his lips on Jungkook's forehead.
At the same moment, Chaeyoung is walking past them and is looking at them, eyes blinking for a few times before she smiles and shakes her head. Jungkook abruptly stands up, pushing Taehyung away and wiping Taehyung's saliva off his forehead.
"It's not – like that," he stammers, as if it's a need to explain to her. Well, it is a need. She needs to know that he and Taehyung are just friends and not more than that, and that he is straight. Chaeyoung laughs as she walks past him, and Jungkook swears that it's music to his ears. "It's nothing like that," he says again although she already has her back facing him.
Chaeyoung turns around, looks at him briefly and smiles before she turns away, her hair follows the movement a little slower and Jungkook gulps. "Oh my God," he breathes and lets himself being pulled back down by Jimin. "Dude, did you fucking see how she smiled just now?"
Jimin snorts and teases him. "She's not the only person in this world who can smile, Jungkook."
Jungkook stares a little more from the way her long hair sways left, right, left, right as she strides towards her group of friends. Her friend says something to her and she laughs and Jungkook's own lips curve into a smile before Jimin slaps his back.
"Close your mouth even if you want to stare," Jimin sniggers.
Jungkook rolls his eyes at Jimin and from the corner of his eye he realizes that Taehyung is staring at the same direction. Before he could come up with any assumption as a result of his jealousy, Taehyung says, "Look at Lisa's hair color. That's dope. Maybe I should try it too."
Jungkook chuckles a little. That is so Taehyung. He's about to continue eating when he is suddenly reminded of what happened earlier.
"Why did you do that?" he asks Taehyung who in return seems like he has lost his memory. Jungkook sighs. "Why did you ask me to sing just now?"
Taehyung thinks for a while. "Oh!" He puts a crumpled paper on the table, the paper he had in his hand earlier. It's a poster promoting a singing competition and Jungkook furrows his brows.
"What's this?"
Taehyung exhales through his nose, pinching his nose bridge before he looks at Jimin. "Does he know how to read?"
Jungkook scoffs. "I know how to read. But what's this? Why are you giving me this?"
"Did you even read the whole thing? Every single word?"
Jungkook doesn't actually read everything. He skims through, getting just the necessary information like the date and the venue and looks back to Taehyung. "Yes. Why?"
"And here everyone says I'm dumb when Jeon Jungkook is dumber than me," Taehyung mutters. "Chaeyoung is in the Music Club!"
Jungkook's little smirk shows when that name falls. "Yeah, so?"
"Don't you get it?" Taehyung pulls his own hair and slaps his own forehead. "The Music Club is the one holding that competition. You should join it, impress her and confess at the same time!"
That is actually a brilliant idea, considering how Chaeyoung likes music herself and is very good at singing; Jungkook has always wanted to sing to her. It must be really amazing to sing in front of a crowd of a love song that describes his feelings for her with her listening to it and at the end of his show, he'll ask her out and everyone will coo and shout out encouragement. Maybe they will chant "Say yes! Say yes! Say yes!" while waiting for Chaeyoung to give him her answer. It's such a perfect scene.
Except that Jungkook hates the crowd and he gets really shy when everyone's attention is on him.
"I'll pass," he says, poking his food weakly.
"What?!" Both Jimin and Taehyung say at the same time.
"It's a perfect chance!" Jimin says, smacking the table so hard that the plates jump, clattering sounds created.
"I know."
"Don't tell me you're going to write another letter, Jungkook," Taehyung sighs.
"Nah..." he shakes his head a little. A smirk paints itself on his face. "I have a new plan."
*
Jungkook has stayed up until 4 in the morning, fingers typing the keyboard fervently as his mind worked nonstop, giving him ideas every time he was about to finish. He created a 'virus' that will contain all of his feelings and he will send it to Chaeyoung. That's the plan. All he needs now is Chaeyoung's email but first he needs to figure out how to get it.
Should he ask Lisa?
No, the one and only person who can and shall know about this is Chaeyoung.
No one else is allowed to know even the slightest idea of it.
But maybe he shouldn't be all too secretive about it, and let Chaeyoung get some hint and to make that happen he's going to approach her to ask for her email. Today is Thursday and usually on Thursdays, at this hour, she will be at her locker, alone, because Lisa will be off to meet someone he doesn't know and doesn't bother to care.
Just as he expected, there she is, leaning against her locker with a book in her arm that she carries like a baby. But someone else is there with her. Talking. And then, singing. He is singing to her.
He frowns and pushes his tongue against his cheek. Chaeyoung seems like she's enjoying that little show from that motherfucker that he has just seen today.
"I'm joining the competition," the guy says to her and Jungkook scoffs. She didn't even ask, you dumbshit.
"That's great! I'll look forward to your performance," she says with her cutest smile and Jungkook's heart fell to the floor. He wants her to smile at him like that too. "I like your voice, it's very soothing," she compliments the guy and Jungkook wants to cry and drown himself in his tears.
When the guy walks away, Jungkook takes out his phone, takes a deep breath and swallows the huge lump in his throat.
"H-hi, Chaeyoung," he greets and he's disgusted at his cracked voice.
Chaeyoung closes her locker and looks up at him. "Oh, hi, Jungkook."
He gulps again when Chaeyoung looks at him straight in his eyes.
"Can you do me a favor?" he smiles and makes sure that the smile is cute. Someone once told him that that smile is cute.
She thinks for a second. "Sure. What is it?"
"Can I get your email?" he asks, and when Chaeyoung beams at him, he thanks to all the gods that exist in the world for making this easy. He's glad that she doesn't ask him questions like 'What for' or 'Why' because he doesn't think he can answer that. He can, but he shouldn't. It will ruin his whole plan.
"Um, should I write it somewhere? Or...?"
"Oh!" Jungkook snaps from his thought and he hands her his phone.
Chaeyoung's beautiful thumbs tap on the screen a few times before she gives his phone back.
roseannepark97 @gmail.com
"Rose...anne?"
"That's my English name."
A faint smile pulls at his face. "Beautiful," he breathes and looks at her. "Just like you."
Chaeyoung blinks at him and for a few more seconds, he's just staring at her with that stupid smile on his face before he realizes what he just said. His eyes widen and he feels like he's been choked. Stupid! He turns away, and walks as fast as he could, pushing past through people and he doesn't even realize that Jimin and Taehyung are shouting his name from their lockers.
*
"I fucking told her she's beautiful," Jungkook says, his shoulder sags as he sinks to the bed. "Hyung, I am going to fucking die!"
"Language, Jungkook," Seokjin warns. He shoves a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth before he continues, "You're not going to die. It's good that you complimented her. Besides, you said that you want her to get some hints."
"Not like that!" he nearly shouts. "The only hint that's supposed to be there was me asking her for her email. Not me complimenting her and smiling at her like a total creep!"
"Relax. You're probably not the only one who has complimented her. She's not going to think of you any different from the rest."
That should make him feel better but it doesn't. Instead, it makes him feel like he's not going to get any chance at all to be with her if she thinks that he's just like the rest of the guys who had flirted with her but failed.
At night, he recalls back what happened earlier. Taehyung had called to tell him that he needs to sign up for the competition before tomorrow and Jimin had texted him twice to remind him about it. He doesn't think he has the guts to do that after what his stupid mouth did although he's dying to impress her with his singing.
He has a nice voice and a great tone to his singing although he never took classes. He just likes singing although he's in a dance club together with Jimin. He knows he sings well because previously, a girl in his class had a crush on him and told him that she liked him for his voice when he sings. As he grows older, his voice as well as his skill gets better. And Jimin once said, "You can melt a girl's heart if you sing like that."
And that becomes one of the reasons why he wants Chaeyoung to listen to him singing. Just...not in front of the crowd. If it's confirmed that she is going to go out with him even just for one single date, then it's okay. But what if he is going to get rejected like the guys who tried to woo her in the past? Even the senior Min Yoongi, the hot item of the school, hottest basketball player of all time, snow prince, owner of the sexiest legs envied by girls who calls himself Suga was rejected.
Only God knows how happy Jungkook was at that time.
Even though he had to deal with blue eyes the next day because he was peeping Yoongi confessing to Chaeyoung and laughed when Chaeyoung said no.
Jungkook groans and stands up to shut his window because it's time for Hoseok to record himself doing reaction videos to music videos. He's always noisy and overreacts and Jungkook doesn't understand why he has more than 100, 000 subscribers on his YouTube account and Taehyung is one of them.
A second before he shuts his window completely, he hears Hoseok says to the camera; "Today, I am not going to be doing reaction videos but I will be rapping for you guys. I've prepared a lot for this and I'm going to do a cover but I won't be alone! I'll be rapping together with Namjoon!"
Jungkook chuckles a bit. At least it won't be annoying tonight since Hoseok is a great rapper and so is Namjoon. He decides to let the window open to listen.
The more he listens to them, the more he furrows his brows. Not because of their lyrics or Hoseok's sudden laughter in the middle of Namjoon spitting out his rap because the latter is currently rapping about Seokjin's food. It's because they give him an idea.
His plan A should be upgraded. It shouldn't be just a virus.
Slowly, he closes the window, grabs his handycam, finds a good spot around his room, looks straight into the camera, and he sings.
*
Chaeyoung purses her lips as she tries to find a vacant seat in the library. Left and right her head turns but she can't find any until she goes deeper in the library. At the very corner, sits Jeon Jungkook alone. The assignments, she guesses, on the table bore him that he grabs his phone and puts on his headphone. She approaches him.
"Can I sit here?" she asks politely with a smile and when Jungkook looks up at her and stares at her for a few moments, she blushes but makes sure that it doesn't show. Jungkook puts down his headphone and Chaeyoung repeats her question.
He pauses for a second, before nodding and clearing the table for her. "Sorry for the mess."
"It's alright," she chuckles and places her laptop and books on the table. Chaeyoung notices how Jungkook looks at her laptop before he suddenly gets nervous.
Jungkook doesn't sit still from the moment she takes a seat in front of him and she's worried that he's actually uncomfortable around her. "Are you okay? Is it really okay for me to sit here?"
"Of course it's okay," he answers almost immediately, causing her to let out a soft chuckle.
She signs into her email account to check if her group members have sent her the things she asked a few days ago and on the very top of her inbox is a message from Jungkook and her lips curve into a small smile.
"What is this?" she asks him, smiling but his eyes widen in return. Chaeyoung furrows her brows. The message was sent at 4.56am.
"What is...what?"
She clicks on it and there's a link to Google Drive in it. Jungkook has shared something with her. "This file that you –"
The moment she clicked the file, all the browsers shut down and all the things on her desktop turn into shortcuts. Her eyes enlarging as she watches one by one of the files on her desktop become shortcut and some of them disappear right before her eyes.
"Jungkook, what is this?" she asks in panic, her body jerking backwards.
"Uh...what?"
"What is –" she stops when a small window pops up.
Windows has detected a severe shortcut virus in your hard drive. Please click OK to recover all your files.
"Jungkook, why did you send me a virus?!" she cries in panic. "What do I do? Do I follow the instruction?"
"Uh...I – It's not – Um. I guess you just have to follow the instructions given."
Chaeyoung is frustrated but decides to do it anyway. If something bad is going to happen to her laptop, he's going to pay.
Windows is unable to recover all your files automatically. Please click Continue to watch a tutorial video on how to recover your files manually.
She furrows her brows. "It says here that I need to watch a video. Should I?"
"Yes. I guess. I – No. No." He gets up from his seat and rounds the table. "You know what, let me just fix them all for you. I'm sorry. I was just experimenting. I'm sorry I sent to the wrong email," he mutters all too quick but not as quick as her finger clicking Continue. Well, she maybe clicked on it accidentally.
A video pops out, filling in the screen of her laptop. Jungkook halts in his step and Chaeyoung stares at the video that starts out with a black screen before the color fades and a figure comes to view. Chaeyoung tilts her head as she looks at the screen in confusion. It's Jungkook.
She turns to look at him briefly but he avoids her eyes, now standing like a statue next to table. The Jungkook in the video clears his throat and Chaeyoung blinks, her lips separated the moment he sings.
Other girls don't matter
In your presence can't do what you do
There's a million girls around but I don't see no one but you
Girl you're so one in a million, you are
Baby you're the best I ever had
And I'm certain that
There ain't nothing better
No there ain't nothing better than this
Chaeyoung swallows, unable to look away from the screen of her laptop.
Diamond girl
Only one in the world
Just one of a kind
She mine
Ooh all that I can think about is what this thing could be
A future baby
Baby you're one of a kind
That means that you're the only for me
Only one for me
There's a part of her saying that she's being pranked. He stops singing and Chaeyoung thought that that's it but he starts singing a different song.
I'd give you everything, anything
If you would be mine
I'd give the stars above
And all my love
How can you be so blind, so blind
I'm going out of my mind
All the times for you, yes it's true
If you only knew, that I'm crazy for you
Then you'll understand
She bites her lips and thinks that this isn't a prank at all when she listens to the lyrics because he doesn't sing the full song. He sings only a few parts. Her heart suddenly beats weirdly behind her chest.
Now I know that I have no chance
Oh to make you mine
But if I owned the world, would you be my girl?
The Jungkook in the video pauses, and he looks down for a few seconds before he clears his throat again. The Jungkook next to her shuffles on his feet before he hastily moves away, grabs all his things and dashes away.
"Don't worry about your laptop. I promise I'll fix it." Jungkook laughs nervously in the video, still looking down. "I..." There's a pregnant pause again and Chaeyoung wishes she can fast forward the video, too curious to know what he's going to say next. Unfortunately, the video is unable to be fast forwarded, paused, and even to control the volume.
After looking down for a long moment, he finally looks up and Chaeyoung gulps.
"I like you, Chaeyoung. And I... I'd like to ask you out on a date."
*
Jungkook hides himself in the restroom until the school bell rings. When he comes out of that place, Taehyung and Jimin run to him and both of them let out a sigh of relief.
"Dude, where were you?!" Jimin asks with furrowed brows. "Did you get into trouble with Min Yoongi again?"
Jungkook shakes his head and stays silent. He looks around and grabs both of his friends. "Let's go. Quick. Before –"
"I've been looking for you."
Jungkook halts in his step, eyes widening, a thick lump fills his throat when he hears that voice.
Taehyung turns around and raises his brow. "Who? Me? But we just met in the class."
"Not you," Chaeyoung frowns. "Jungkook."
Taehyung and Jimin exchange looks with each other and Jungkook swallows thickly when he notices from the corner of his eye that Jimin is sending Taehyung a signal before both of them scurry away.
"Uh..." he breathes heavily, unable to look at her. "I'll fix your laptop. For free. Forget about everything – the content of the video –just – I –"
Jungkook's eyes widen when a brief, soft kiss is planted on his cheek. When he looks at her, she curls her lips inward before she smiles at the floor.
"Chae –"
"My dad's busy. Do you want to walk me home?"
His face slowly brightens and he can't close his mouth before his fist goes up to his mouth. "You're not joking?"
She shyly shakes her head and confidence surges through his veins.
"But do me a favor."
Jungkook smiles widely that his face almost breaks into two. "Anything."
She lets out a little pout. "Fix my laptop, please. I have so many important stuffs in there."
"Don't worry about that. I promised you." He holds out his hand and lifts an eyebrow. "So, shall we?"
Chaeyoung doesn't hesitate to hold his hand and Jungkook, doesn't hesitate at all to intertwine their fingers as they walk together while the sun is settling.
*
"I won," Jimin smirks. "I told you they're going to walk out that door, hand in hand. And that's exactly what's happening right now."
Taehyung blows his bangs and rolls his eyes, "But she really looks like she was about to slap him, though."
