Chapter 8
No one cares about this book anymore but oh well I'm writing another phanfic now which I know you actually like. It's called Isolation and I think it's kind of cool so yeah. Check it out if you want ^-^
After another day of coldness, Lucifer still hadn't returned and everyone was beginning to worry about him, Clyde too. Clyde was freezing all the time and everything he touched froze so he was rendered a shivering figure in the corner of a room.
Lucifer was in a bad state too.
The man had taken Lucifer to a large building which had about ten locks and a finger scan on the front door alone. Then another finger scan and a password on another huge door... and so on. The place was obviously highly protected for a reason. Once they were through all of the security, there was a large machine which had wires hanging out of it, like it should be connected to something. The man pushed him forward and a few other men walked into the room, armed with guns.
The man pushed Lucifer into another room, separated from him with a thick wall of glass. He walked up to a large microphone and spoke into it. His voice echoed in the room Lucifer was standing in. He finally decided to introduce himself.
"My name is Damian and I am the head of a team of scientists. We plan on using you for our research. Do exactly as I say and answer all of my questions with the truth and only the truth."
Lucifer felt like he would be in danger if he didn't obey.
"What are you doing here?"
"...I don't know." Lucifer mumbled, being completely honest.
There was a loud slam as the man hit his fist against the table in front of him. "I said tell the truth!"
"I really don't know. I just woke up here one day and I.. I want to go home."
"Fine. Then who are you? We have a record of everyone in each village and you aren't on any of them."
"I'm Lucifer Lawrence. I'm not from here."
"Where are you from then?"
"I don't know anymore."
Damian sighed. "Do you have any special powers? Can you freeze people?"
"I can't freeze people."
"But do you have special powers?"
Lucifer swallowed, not wanting to admit it. Finally, he realised that it was either he admitted it and didn't get hurt or he lied and got hurt. One was easier than the other. "Yes."
"What can you do?"
"I can heat things up."
"Okay, that's all we need to know." The door opened and the men with guns flooded in, grabbing Lucifer by his limbs. He screeched out in surprise as he was roughly pulled out of the room.
He blacked out a couple of seconds later.
-
"Clyde, please come out.. we need to make a plan." Elliot softly said, knocking on Clyde's bedroom door.
Clyde was sat in the corner, rocking back and forth as he shivered violently. He didn't want to leave the room in case he froze anything or anyone.. He was a danger.. a threat.. a..
"Clyde? We're worried.. we can't help Lucifer without you. You're his friend and he needs you."
"Elliot.. you can find him without me. It's probably safer if I don't go." Clyde's voice was quiet and shaky so Elliot had to strain to hear it. Audrey squeezed his hand, noticing how worried her boyfriend was.
"We need you and your powers."
"You don't."
"We do."
Clyde didn't respond and so Elliot turned away.
-
Lucifer woke up to pains in his body. His eyelids were heavy, so much that they were hard to keep open. He lazily glanced down at his body to find he had wires in his hands and feet. He felt weak all over and he felt like he was on fire. He was so hot and he wasn't sure if it was him or the room.
His hands were twitching, like they were urging to do something. A voice filled the room, startling Lucifer. "Lucifer, you will realise in a few moments that you can't talk or move, don't panic, it makes this easier for both of us," Lucifer tried to move his arm but it didn't budge; it was like he was frozen into place. He went to open his mouth but was unable to. "This.. machine.. you're connected to is helping us with our research. Don't struggle as it makes this hurt more. A group of scientists and I are working on studying humans and their behaviour. Our aim is to use our research to create the perfect world." Lucifer didn't like the sound of what the scientist was saying at all but he couldn't argue. He couldn't do anything.
-
Clyde was hungry and he remembered that Elliot had left a sandwich outside his room in case he did get hungry. He stood up, his legs shaking. He walked to the door and, when he looked back, the wall was frozen. He reached for the door handle and it immediately grew freezing cold. He pulled open the door to find a sandwich at his feet. He bent down and picked it up, taking a large bite of it. It felt slightly warm as it travelled down his throat. He devoured it quickly, the hunger quickly catching up on him.
"Clyde? Are you alright?" A voice said, making Clyde jump. He turned, holding up both his hands in defence. The person immediately froze and Clyde couldn't help but let out a scream as he realised who it was. It was Edwin. He walked forward and put a hand against Edwin's ice-cold cheek.
Clyde needed Lucifer to unfreeze Edwin. He was putting people in danger because of his chaotic powers. He couldn't control them on his own.
-
Elliot knocked on Edwin, Clyde and Lucifer's door and awaited an answer. After a couple of minutes without a reply, he knocked again. He then decided to walk in, his hand connected to his girlfriend's. They walked up the stairs together to where they remember Clyde and Lucifer's room to be. Before they could reach their planned destination, they stumbled across another person who seemed to be frozen..
It was Edwin.
Audrey let out a cry as she realised he was ice-cold.
"Clyde.." Elliot mumbled before shoving open Clyde's bedroom door. "Clyde!"
Clyde was crying loudly, his tears nothing but tiny shards of ice. "Elliot.. Audrey.. get away.." He mumbled, pulling his legs to his chest.
"No, no, no.. we're not leaving you, Clyde..." Elliot cautiously walked forward and bent down to his friend's height. "You need to get out of this state of mind... we can't help Lucifer with this attitude."
"We can't help Lucifer at all..."
"We can.. we just need to work together..."
"We can't! It's been two days, Elliot and we've done nothing! We don't have a plan and we don't know where to look! It's useless! This is all useless!" Clyde yelled, anger spreading in his veins. He was shouting and he knew that that would make his powers even more out of control but he just couldn't stop the anger. "Maybe we should all accept the fact that he's gone! He's probably been caught by the stupid androids or whatever! We're weak and stupid compared to the androids so he's as good as dead!"
"Don't say that-"
"We can't help him!"
It happened within a few milliseconds. There was nothing any of them could have done to prevent it from happening: it was inevitable. Clyde thrust out his hands in fury and the room lapsed into silence.
Silence... not the good type of silence either.
Elliot was cold. He was blue and there were icicles hanging everywhere they could hang.
Audrey looked petrified as she took a hesitant step backwards. "No, I didn't mean-"
But then Audrey was ice too.
Clyde was on his own.
