Week Thirty-Six {13-20/11}

Reminder of Rules:

<10: The book has less than 10 chapters, you can read up to a maximum of 5 chapters only.

>10: If the book you're reading has more than 10 chapters, you can read as many chapters as you like. This also applies to the Story of The Week (SoTW).

1. Read the chapter(s) and comment in accordance with the guidelines below**.

2. Add a comment on this page with how many chapters you've given feedback on (including Story of The Week).

3. You can leave a vote if you want to, but this is not required.

**You must comment on each chapter you read, focusing on the Theme of The Week, and tag your comments with the hashtag #CCBC (This also applies to Story of The Week).

Comment & Feedback Guidelines:

1. Quality over quantity – your comment should be detailed and helpful to the author, aim to write at least 3 sentences of solid, theme-focused feedback!

2. The devil is in the detail – taking the time to write grammatically correct comments improves your own writing skills too!

3. Treat others how you want to be treated – while constructive criticism is invaluable, it can be disheartening, so be nice :)

4. For any questions or issues you can always send a message to Sara (Sara91Helal) or Olleanna (SomeGamerGirl), and we'll do our best to help you.

5. If you don't complete your assignment, I'm afraid you won't get any scores for the next week until you finish BOTH WEEKS ASSIGNMENTS, and if you miss the deadline two weeks in a row, unfortunately you'd leave the club.

6. Assignments are updated every Tuesday at 10 am in Cairo's timezone (GMT +2).

Let's get started for this week!

Weekly themes focus on different aspects of storytelling, this way if paired with a member more than once, you get to give feedback on something different and this week's theme is: Diction.

Diction, or the choice of words, is obviously a central element in every writer's style. Although good diction is partly a matter of trial and error, of tinkering with sentences until they sound right, it is also a matter of following certain general preferences that careful readers and writers tend to share.❞ ــ Wikipedia.

What to look for in Diction?

Did the author express themselves in the right words? Were you able to easily grasp what they intended to say?

Were there too many cliche words?

Did the author avoid offensive or sexist language?

Were metaphors vivid and appropriate?

This week, _huckleberry is the winner! 🎉🎉

Make sure you comment on at least one chapter of my story Shoot First, Look Pretty according to the Theme of The Week, and the rules above, and don't forget to comment down here how many chapters you gave feedback on.

❝Shoot first. If you shoot first, the other guy can't shoot you.

Look pretty. No one wants to believe the pretty one's got a gun.

Don't get caught.

This all doesn't matter, however, if all eyes are on you. And a missing king with a wanted foreigner criminal tend to attract lots of attention.

This all started when there was a crown and no king to wear it. Whatever happened to the feeble boy who was supposed to take the throne, no one knew. Most assumed he finally died. The family taking over the royal tradition want to make sure that's the truth, one way or another.

A bounty was placed on the supposed-to-be-king. Dead or alive, if someone can find him, then they get enough money to buy an island. Or, in Ramona's case, at least get off this one. She's hoping she finds a dead body, it'd save time and trouble.

But he's not. All the time and trouble she wanted to save, she realizes all that's out the window. Because she won't let him die, either.❞
