Theme Of The Week (Week 7)
Again, Theme of The Week is a single element you critique in your assigned book. This way if paired with a member more than once, you get to give feedback on something different.
This week, we will give feedback on Point of View
❝Narrative point of view or narrative perspective describes the position of the narrator, that is, the character of the storyteller, in relation to the story being told. It can be thought of as a camera mounted on the narrator's shoulder that can also look back inside the narrator's mind.❞
What to look for in POV?
- Was a given chapter narrated in one person's point of view? Are there too many points of view in the story?
- Did the story shift between different (POVs)? Were the shifts signaled smoothly?
- If the POV changed, were you able to get whose new viewpoint was?
❝ I'm not going to show you everything in the character's head because that would spoil the story for you. Instead, I will reveal things as we go along but I promise that I won't cheat.❞ - Trevor Lawrence.
