Chapter Two
Cloverpaw slowly blinked open her eyes, a bright light disturbed her sleep. Could the sun really shine so brightly into her den?
Gradually, her eye lids retracted, fully exposing her eyes to the glow before her.
As the light faded, Cloverpaw expected to see the apprentices den, but instead she was faced with unfamiliar territory.
The ground was covered with a think blanket of snow. The midday sun illuminated the snowfall, but offering no warmth.
In the distance mountain's scrapped the sky, but it wasn't the mountains where the tribe lived. These were much larger and seemed to stretch far beyond where any clan cat had traveled before.
Cloverpaw stood up, confused. Where was she? Was she still dreaming or had she some how been teleported to this foreign land?
Cloverpaw scented the air, trying to find any clues as to where she was. Strangely, even though the wind was blowing towards her, she could smell nothing. Not even the pine forest that lay adjacent to the mountains.
That's very strange, I don't like where this is going she thought, suddenly very aware something was off.
Now that she thought about it, Cloverpaw realized she couldn't feel the warmth of the sun or the chill of the snow.
I don't like this at all. What in StarClan is going on?
"Hello?" Cloverpaw yowled, praying for an answer. "Hello!"
The only thing that answered was her own voice, echoing the hellos she has just yelled.
Defeated, Cloverpaw plopped on her hindquarters, her tail flying back and for, irritated.
All of a sudden, Cloverpaw heard mumbled talking. Pricking her ears, she strained to hear what it was saying.
"This the perfect opportunity! The storm is a distraction that can work to our advantage!" The voice said. It was so muffled that Cloverpaw couldn't recognize it or tell wether it was male or female.
A second voice joined the conversation. "I agree. We can make the bodies look like they froze to death and all suspicion will be off our backs."
Cloverpaw was taken aback. Bodies? Frozen to death?
"Remember," a third voice said "We only go for the targets supporters, going for her would be to obvious. Besides, she has StarClan on her side. If we take down her support, she will fall."
What?!?
Before Cloverpaw could say anything, a horrible, painful scream filled her ears, shaking her to the core.

Cloverpaw woke up with a jolt, the scream still echoing in her ears. She lifted her head, looking at the other apprentices anxiously.
To her surprise, the other apprentices were awake also, looking just as alert at she was.
Maybe the voices she heard wasn't a dream?
"Did anyone else hear that?" Peachpaw meowed, her pelt bristling.
"Uh Yeah, Peachpaw. We're not deaf." Olivepaw hissed, clearly annoyed by the disturbance.
"I hope everything's ok...." Oakpaw said with a concerned meow.
Cloverpaw left her nest, eager to see what was going on, and to make sure everyone was alright.
Cloverpaw stuck her head out the den. The snow has pilled up, obscuring the den entrance.
The apprentices filed out, one by one, into the clearing. The snow was still falling at a heavy pace. The wind was whistling and the trees creaked. It seemed the storm had only gotten worse.
Cloverpaw started to shiver. A fluffy pelt rubbed against hers, protecting her from the cold. Oakpaw stood next to her, his fluff keeping her warm. Cloverpaw felt the heat begin to return to her body, and she meowed a thanks to him.
For a moment, every thing seemed serene and beautiful, but then Cloverpaw was brought back to reality.
A distraught looking Tigerlily was wailing outside of the Nursery, Condorstrike and the other queens were trying to soothe her.
Underneath the High Ledge Lightstar, Brambletooth and a handful off warriors were whispering urgently in a circle. They seemed very concerned about something.
Cloverpaw started to fear for the worst.
"Look, there's Shadestep and Quickwater, let's ask them what's going on." Muttered Hollypaw. The apprentices murmured in agreement and trudged over to the two warriors.
Oakpaw immediately went up to Quickwater, his tail raised. "Quickwater, what's going on?" He meowed, fear in his tone.
Quickwater hung his head, grief in his meow "It's Lionkit....she's gone missing"
