Chapter g

Tai Lung kept his eyes tightly fixated on Po as he slowly approached him with a focused gaze. The snow leopard slowly began to move towards the side of the training hall, keeping his ears pricked towards Tigress who was very close behind him and probably ready to strike him as well.

"How did you even get here?" Po demanded. "You exploded into dust!"

"Kind of a funny question to ask a walking corpse, isn't it?"

"Ha ha. Very funny."

Tai Lung folded his arms and looked Po directly in the eye. "If you cross this invisible line, there's no going back, Dragon Warrior," he warned. "This will end in one of two ways: either you let me be and can work things out later, or you just fight me and someone's getting hurt. And between you and me, I'd rather not come all this way to have a bad evening, so the first option's more appealing."

Almost as soon as he finished his sentence, the former master heart rapid footsteps behind him and quickly spun around to grab Tigress' arm, flip her over his shoulder, and toss her on her back a few feet in front of him. "Okay, are you secretly related to me by chance?" he asked. "I think this is the eighth time you've attacked me after I said something."

"You say things to rile her up!" Po snapped. He grabbed a nunchuck from a rack nearby and chucked it at the snow leopard who simply caught it mid-air.

"Come on, Master Po," Tai Lung chided. "I appreciate you taking it easy on me, but I know you can do better than that."

"Oh don't worry, I'm not taking it easy on you," Po promised, giving him a sharp look. "I'm just warming up."

"Alright then, let's see it then. Let's just hold off on the Wuxi Finger though. That ordeal was beyond excruciatingly painful."

"Shifu will decide what to do with you," Po corrected. "My job is simply to detain you."

"Alright then, master's pet. Detain me."

Po tolled his eyes at him but said nothing else. As he moved to attack Tai Ling though, Tigress lunged at him again. The snow leopard blocked her attacks as he heard Master Shifu and several other masters call out to her in concern. Tigress landed a hard kick to Tai Lung's chest and then proceeded to swing around and deliver and equally nasty knuckle punch to his face. Despite feeling like something had broken, Tai Lung was quick to whip the nunchuck he still had forward, wrapping it tightly around Tigress' wrist and then yanking it past his shoulder. He then delivered an uppercut with his elbow and then swung her over his shoulder and kicked her a safe distance away. He then turned around, only to be delivered a swift kick to the base of his neck by a strong foot. The snow leopard went flying backwards and rammed the side of his head against the Jade Tortoise just a few feet away.

Tai Lung winced as nasty pains ran through both his skull and his chest. He didn't have much time to think about them though as he quickly flipped backwards to avoid another earth-rumbling blow from the Dragon Warrior. He tried his best to catch his breath as he maneuvered his way backwards around the training hall, not really in the mood for any more bone-crushing kicks and punches. He heard some slight movement behind him and he immediately ducked, causing Tigress to sail over his head and land on all fours by Po. The Dragon Warrior charged at him with a surprising burst of speed, but Tai Lung just as quickly slid out of the way, ignoring and painful thumps in his head, and then ran back to Po and jumped on his back. Using the panda as a spring board, he launched himself up to the talon rings towards the middle of the training hall.

As Po went sailing straight into the alligator limbs, Tigress waited no time dashing over in Tai Lung's direction. Seeing that Po was having trouble, Monkey bounded up a nearby wooden beam and sung his way through the rafters to help Tigress. Tai Lung noticed the two approaching and began to swing himself expertly around with the talon rings, gathering up as much momentum as he could possibly get. Through his dizzying spins, he could see the two masters rapidly coming closer. When they were just a fingertips' length away from him, he let go of the talon rings and propelled himself across the entire training hall. He caught hold of the beam and pulled himself up to firmly stand on it. On the opposite side, Monkey had leaped onto the chain connected to another talon ring to avoid hitting Tigress and Po had just gotten his foothold amongst the alligator limbs and was starting to make his way out.

Tai Lung heard a sudden flapping noise and glanced towards the front  of the training hall. He caught sight of Master Crane swooping towards him, about as fast as an arrow, and internally began to brace himself. As Crane moved into an attack formation, Tai Lung quickly jumped down and grabbed onto the beam, swung himself around, and double-kicked the surprised crane into the wall.

"Crane!" Viper cried out. She, Mantis, and Shifu ran towards the snow leopard, Shifu instructing them to each go in different directions.

"Po!" the grandmaster called out. "We need a little help over here!"

"I'm working on it!" Po told him, narrowly avoiding a limb-strike to his gut.

Tai Lung began to move across the beams to intercept Viper's attack. Seeing her begin to slither up a pole, he slid down claws and all and quickly grabbed a hold of her. He then whipped his arm towards the front of the training hall and hurled the serpent master at Mantis. Viper crashed into her friend and the two violently sailed backwards until they were stopped by the presence of the raised floor. Tai Lung was then quick to turn his attention to Master Shifu who was wielding a tall wooden staff bound together by a golden band. As the grandmaster attacked him, using the staff as both an efficient weapon and an excellent springboard and stilt, Tai Lung suddenly recognized the staff as something he had seen before.

That's Oogway's, he realized as he narrowly avoided what sounded like could have been a brutal blow to his knee. I guess he fixed it after I broke it. Actually, I think the gold is an improvement.

Shifu aimed the staff again, but Tai lung caught it and yanked it out of his paws. He then used it to block several of Shifu's kicks and quick leaping attacks before finally kicking his former master towards the opposite end of the room. As Shifu skidded across the floor, Po finally got out of the maze of alligator limbs and ran over to Tai Lung, ready for more action. Tai Lung  blocked him a few times with Oogway's staff, (technically Shifu's now that Oogway was dead, actually), but Po was quick to snatch it back from him, dodge a strike to the chest, and then belly-bump Tai Lung over to the swinging clubs.

The snow leopard stopped short of the enormous contraption, but quickly composed himself and slid under the rotating beams just as Po used the platform to jump high in the air and land on the spot where Tai Lung had just fallen. Tai Lung himself then climbed onto the equipment and leaped towards the beams as Po ran to the closest one and used the rotating spirals to bounce even higher in the air. Tai Lung struck the beam as hard as he could, knocking a chunk of it loose and releasing one of the clubs as well. He then grabbed a hold of the chain and swung the club around before launching it at Po. Taken aback, the panda had no time to react as he was knocked back into the beams and then fell on the floor gasping for air.

Tai Lung landed expertly on the rotating spirals and made his way back to the front door of the training hall. "Sorry for the inconvenience," he announced to the entire room. "I'll try again another time when it's less danger-prone for me."

He then shut the door behind him, leaving everyone in the room to start recovering from the fight.
