Chapter 6
I woke up in hospital a week later with a banging head. It turns out I've been in a coma for around a week.
To be honest with you though dear reader it felt like six rounds with Mike Tyson or drinking too much alcohol.
I tried that once.. Alcohol I mean.. I drunk a few pints I ended up falling over and barfing everywhere.. So I promised myself I'd never ever do that again.
My mums been mostly at my bedside but mostly outside of my room on the phone yelling at the school almost like she's looking for someone to blame.
I blink my eyes trying desperately to clear my vision and to get rid of these so called circles that I can see that are supposed to resemble people.
I almost started to give up on the third attempt and I resigned myself to possibly needing glasses or something. But then suddenly my Vision started go clear.
"Stay still... Your still weak and we haven't got the tests back yet."
I frown at my mother with her short curly hair. "Woah.. Wait what Tests?."
My Mother sighs clearly she didn't want to give me this news but since she preatty much raised me herself she didn't exactly have a choice. "Corlina dear there is a chance.. A small chance that you could be paralysed."
I blink struggling to take that all in. "That's impossible.. I'm fine.. Look at me."
Her mother leaned in slightly and sat next to her on the bed. She gives me a hand held mirror. "Your not fine.. Look at yourself."
I looked in the mirror and I was wearing a red helmet thing with Velcro on it. I knew instantly what it was for because I'd seen one of them on those documentary shows. To make matters worse my lip was cut and I was black and blue all over my face. It was like my entire face had been rearranged.
It's supposed to hold your neck in place to stop any further damage that could actually cause you to be paralysed.
I put down the mirror and looked further down my body. My legs were strapped together to a board that I was lying on.
The doctor came in smiling. "Hello Corlina.. How are you doing!."
I smile nervously "I'm doing fine.. In the circumstances I guess.."
He smiles at Corlina "Well we have had the tests back and it's good news."
I grin happily suddenly full of hope. "Really?."
He nodded "The outcomes of the tests that we have done look good and we are confident that you are not going to be paralysed."
He starts taking the straps off and slips the board from under me and unstraps my neck bace. All of a sudden my neck felt like it could breathe slightly better.
Her mother frowns "So she's going to be alright?."
The doctor nodded "It will take some time for her to have some feeling back and she will have to wear a back brace and possibly crutches but we will see in the meantime."
Her mother nodded "So Doctor.. You would say she's still bad enough we can make a claim for compensation?."
My eyes widen embarrassed. "Mum!.. I don't want compensation."
Her mother sighs "We've got to call the police and find the scum that did this to you and get compensation.. You might be out of action for months!."
The doctor shakes his head. "No I'm confident that your daughter will be fully mobile in a few weeks."
When the doctor left the room. My mother stood up looking at me. "Why don't you want to inform the police?."
I sigh "Because I know who did it.. It was Tristian.. He's already had a hard life as it is and id prefer to just forget about it okay?."
Her mother shakes her head. "And that's nothing I can do to change your mind?."
I think about shaking my head but then decide not to incase I make things worse. "No mother.. Please don't say anything.. Promise me?."
My mother sighs "Your stubborn you know that?.. I promise."
