two

the second time they met was more than unexpected, much to both of their surprises. perhaps it wasn't the most convenient of times, but it was indeed an experience that could be considered worthy in their memories of the rain.

it was a week later into spring, and the rain was beginning to become active, dropping onto taehyung's skin more frequently. it was also starting to stay longer too, residing in his view in rather long periods of time instead of coming in short bursts in and out randomly. with all that's been going on, taehyung began growing excessively tired over the past few days, his mind concluding that it was the amount of time he's stayed up which led to his baggy eyes. he wouldn't let sleep get in his way of experiencing the rain though.

he was walking to jimin's house, wanting to raid his refrigerator, wondering if he should take his ramen or his snacks first. of course, jimin didn't mind, since they were declared to be platonic soulmates, after all. he rubbed his eyes that found themselves to be drooping lazily, contemplating on whether or not he should just crash onto jimin's bed and sleep after watching the raindrops passed.

although, he wasn't really anticipating to be caught on his own two feet and tripping face first into jeongguk's chest, but it happened. things happen, whether fatal or embarrassing, and in taehyung's case, it was definitely the latter; he yelped out in surprise, falling back onto his bottom. he huffed out in pain, hastily standing back up with flushed cheeks.

"s-sorry! i'm so, so, sorry- wait, jeongguk?" taehyung looked up with shock. "what are you doing here?"

"i could be asking you the same thing," jeongguk replied, dull eyes boring into his.

"yeah, yeah, just answer the question."

"last time i checked, my mouth wasn't forced to answer questions."

"last time i checked, i bought you that hoodie."

"that was a one time favor, taehyung."

"wow, i'm surprised you still remember my name."

"wow, i'm surprised you still kept my hoodie," jeongguk mocked taehyung, purposefully doing a bad impression of his voice.

"wha- how do you know?"

"i mean, it's pretty obvious since you're wearing it right now, so..."

taehyung's face heated up, completely forgetting about the fact that he was indeed wearing jeongguk's hoodie bundled around him. "whatever, okay?"

"well, since you've also forgotten about the question you asked me, let's keep this simple then. i'm walking to a friend's house and hanging out there. that's it."

"wait, you're going to a friend's house too?" taehyung swayed his head curiously.

"more like an 'only being friends for less than a week' friend's house."

"really? what's his name then?"

"park jimin. he's pretty cool actually, and he's honestly one of the nicest people i've ever met."

taehyung's eyes broadened, his mouth slightly gaping open from the name. "jimin never told me he brought a guest."

jeongguk pieced the clues in his brain, and he whistled lowly in a pitiful way when he got the memo.

"oh."

~~~
"jeongguk, hey- oh, taehyung, nice to meet you too," jimin chuckled nervously after he saw the pissed-off face on taehyung when he opened his door for the both of them.
"hey." jeongguk waved at jimin, stepping into his house awkwardly.
taehyung didn't really say anything. all he did was walk immediately to jimin's refrigerator and picked out whatever he wanted. he opened his pantry as well, searching for the packets of instant ramen before pulling it out eagerly.
"jeongguk, you can just chill out by the living room." jimin facepalms, groaning in exaggerated agony. the youngest doesn't object as he sat down on the couch, pulling out his phone and entertaining himself there.
"taehyung, you're causing a scene, what the fuck are you doing-" he's stopped when taehyung shushed him while he boiled water on the stove.
"when did you even start to meet him anyways?" taehyung asked, cutting open the packets of ramen with a pair of scissors since he was too lazy to make his hands do all the opening anyways.
the older sighed, thinking about all the reasons why taehyung was so worked up at this moment. "the day after you bought him that hoodie was when he decided to come into the store again. he started talking to me all of a sudden, asking questions about you."
"me? why the fuck-"
"i don't know either, taehyung. he asked me if we could hang out sometime and i was so confused about everything that i didn't even realize i said 'yes.' can you tell me why you're acting like the fucking grinch on drugs now?"
as taehyung got out two clean plates from jimin's cupboard, he spoke casually, "are you setting us up, jimin?"
"what? of course i'm not."
"tell me the truth."
silence.
"it was a dare."
"i knew it. who was it?"
"surprisingly, it was namjoon."
"since when was namjoon so interested in giving people these sorts of dares?"
jimin sneered, rolling his eyes. "probably ever since he found out your notifs were as dry as a fucking desert."
taehyung punched his arm playfully, and he couldn't hold himself back as he stifled out something between a chuckle and a laugh. jimin heard the sound of something being placed in scalding water, the aftereffect being a sizzling sound. he saw taehyung stirring the noodles with chopsticks cautiously, careful not to spill any scorching water onto himself.
"you know i can't even deal with myself though, so why bother setting me up with him?"
"like i said, it was a dare, so you can kill namjoon whenever you'd like. besides, jeongguk seems cool. you got yourself a lucky one too since he likes rain just like you too, for some apparent reason."
"i get that, but it's not possible, jimin."
"you're giving up too easily, taehyung. i agree with namjoon's dare, you know. you should at least try to give him a chance!"
"i'm not stupid, jimin. there's always too many sad endings, so why is mine gonna be any different?"
"you don't know that, taehyung. it could be a happy ending for all you know."
"but it could also be a sad ending, too."
"can you stop being stubborn and just try it out?"
taehyung huffed, filtering out the water into the sink and setting the noodles on top of the plates. "fine. but, don't be surprised if i don't do anything at all."
jimin nodded and looked expectantly at jeongguk. "come on, you fucking loser. let's watch a movie with him or something."
jimin stared at taehyung who carried one plate of enticing food on each of his hands. he suddenly had an urge for a meal: specifically ramen.
"is that plate for me?" jimin asked with hope in his eyes as they walked to the living room where jeongguk was waiting.
"no, why?"
"who's the other plate for then?"
"myself, you dumbass. i made two plates for myself."
"for fuck's sake."
