Chapter 16
While in the car, Audrey kept struggling against Nico's grip.
"Let me go!" she yelled.
"Will you shut her up!" the driver of the car yelled to them.
Before Audrey realized it, she felt a pinch in her arm. She looked over to see Nico inserting a needle into it.
"You fucking bastard!" she screamed trying to move her arm, but Nico had pinned it down and finally released the needle after the syringe had emptied. In a matter of seconds, Audrey began to feel dazed. She managed to look at Cynthia; she was sitting next to Leo, her face pale and a look of panic in her eyes. Before she could say another word, Audrey drifted off into a deep sleep.
Audrey woke up with confusion and could hear soft voices in the room. She tried to focus on where she was but she her eyesight was a bit blurry. It wasn't until she tried moving her hands that she realized she was lying on a bed, her hands tied to a metal headboard. She pulled her hands violently to try and break free, causing the rope to cut into her skin.
"Hey....relax, Audrey....I'll be there in a minute." she heard Frank say from across the room.
Audrey stopped struggling, mainly due to the pain she was feeling in her wrists. Instead she blinked a few times, trying to adjust her vision. She had no idea what she had been given in the car or where Cynthia was. She faintly heard Frank telling someone he'd discuss the rest with him later and heard the room door open, then close again.
"Audrey...you're awake." Frank said as he sat down on the bed next to her.
"Untie me....please." Audrey pleaded with Frank as she looked up at him.
"Not yet..."
Audrey sighed heavily.
Frank brought his hand towards her face and grazed his fingers near her left eye. Audrey grimaced with pain.
"Who hit you?" Frank questioned.
"One of your men..." Audrey responded resentfully.
"Which one?"
"Leo."
Frank nodded. "Leo..."
"Why did you have to get Cynthia involved in this? She had nothing to do with any of it!Where is she?" Audrey asked trying to look around the room.
"She's fine. I have her in a safe place."
"Let her go...what do you want with her?"
"Oh I could come up with a few ideas..." Frank said with a mocking smile. "She's a very pretty girl. She could be quite useful when I'm feeling...needy."
Immediately, Audrey's stomach began to churn. She needed to make sure Frank stayed away from Cynthia.
"You don't need her." Audrey replied looking up at Frank. "I can give you everything you need. I know exactly what you need."
"Is that so?" Frank smiled as he began touching Audrey's thigh.
"Of course." Audrey smiled back.
Frank leaned in and kissed her deeply. As he pulled away, Audrey tugged at the ropes holding her hands in place.
"Untie me?" she asked again.
"Not yet." Frank said as he began unbuttoning his pants. Audrey could already see a large bulge through the fabric of his trousers. She felt Frank's hands reach under her dress and slip her panties off. She knew that one of the things that aroused Frank was the feeling of having power and control over a woman. He would get pleasure from dominating her. She felt Frank straddle her and push her dress up to her hips. She held her breath as she felt Frank thrust inside her. She held on tightly to the headboard, looking up to the ceiling and trying to mentally transport herself away from where she was.
Frank's body covered Audrey's as he took deep breaths, trying to recover from his orgasm. A few minutes later, he pushed his body off of hers and began untying her hands. Audrey rubbed her wrists and brought her arms down to her side.
"I missed you." Frank said as he came down to kiss her again.
"Me too." Audrey lied as she stroked his hair. "So...you'll leave Cynthia alone?"
"Jealous, are you?" Frank chuckled.
"What if I was? Besides...if you're looking to use Cynthia as bait to pull in John, you best keep her...undamaged."
Frank was deep in thought, but didn't say anything for a minute or so.
"You may be right...it's best she goes unharmed."
Audrey relaxed a bit when she heard Frank say those words, although she knew that wasn't a guarantee of Cynthia's safety, but it did give her hope.
"So are you going to tell me why the change of plans from this morning?" Audrey asked.
"I will...tomorrow. For now, let's get some sleep." He said as he slid to Audrey's side and turned off the lamp on the nightstand. Frank coaxed Audrey to flip to her side and he embraced her from behind.

Pattie looked around, noticing that both Cynthia and Audrey had not come back to the table. She looked at her watch, realizing almost forty-five minutes had passed since she had even seen them. She began to scan the club, thinking maybe she would find them with the boys, but George, Ringo and Paul were laughing in a far corner as they waited for another drink, while John was talking to Keith Richards at a nearby table. Pattie stood up and decided to walk through the club and check the ladies' room before letting her worry overwhelm her. She quickly did a run through of the club, checking both the small outdoor balcony and the ladies' room and could not find them.
"George?" she asked patting him on the arm to get his attention.
George smiled when he saw her standing next to him. "I was just going to ask you if you wanted to dance."
"Can I talk to you?" Pattie continued leaning into him so he could hear her.
George noticed the serious expression on Pattie's face and immediately excused himself.
"What's wrong?"
"Audrey and Cynthia...they're gone."
"Gone? What do you mean gone?"
"I've been looking for them and they're not here. They both left the table about an hour ago and that's the last I've seen them."
"Surely, they're still here." George said looking around the club.
"No...I'm telling you they are not here, George!" Pattie said irritated.
"Okay...calm down." George said trying to ease Pattie's worry. "Let's look for them one last time and if we can't find them, we'll...tell the others." He said glancing over at John.
Pattie nodded. She and George both looked around for the girls one last time and came back with the same result- they simply were not at the club.
"I'll go tell John...maybe he and Cynthia had a row..." George's voice trailed off as he left Pattie sitting at their table. "Stay here, okay?" he said looking back at her.
Keith, having gone to the dance floor, had left John at the table and he was now talking with Paul.
"John..." George said sitting next to him. "Have you seen Cynthia?"
"Cyn? Umm...isn't she at the table with the girls?" John replied turning around to the table where he had last seen his wife. To his surprise, only Pattie was at the table. "Oh...uhh she must have gone to get her nose powdered or something..." he chuckled. "Why?"
"We can't find her...or Audrey for that fact." George replied.
"What do you mean you can't find Cyn or Audrey" John remarked straightening up.
"When was the last time anyone saw them?" Paul asked.
"Pattie said it's been about an hour since she last saw them both leave the table."
Despite the dimly lit room, Paul noticed John had gone a bit pale.
"You alright?" He asked John, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm feeling a bit dizzy..." he replied.
Paul and George both looked at each other.
"You keep looking for them...I think I better take him into the loo." Paul said taking John by the arm and helping him up.
As Paul walked him to the restroom, John felt sick to his stomach. The fact that both Cynthia and Audrey had gone missing wasn't a coincidence. He was almost positive Frank was involved in their disappearance.
"You and Cyn had a fight tonight?" Paul cleared his throat while watching John wash out his mouth with water. It was rare for John to throw up after a night of heavy drinking, let alone one where his alcohol intake was rather mild.
"No." John replied wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Could she have found out about you and Audrey?" Paul asked.
"Me and Audrey? There's nothing between us...we're just friends." John replied looking straight at Paul.
Paul shifted his weight to his other foot. "I'm asking because the last time we all went out it didn't look like you two were just friends." Paul countered. "Sure she didn't find out you were messing about with her?"
John took in a deep breath. It was true that he and Audrey had kissed very publically that night at the restaurant, but...could it have really gotten back to Cynthia?"
"Maybe Audrey told her about it...that could explain why she's not here either." Paul added.
"Audrey wouldn't have told her...or could she?"
Paul shrugged. "Maybe...how much do you know about this bird?"
"No...she wouldn't have said anything to Cyn." John said trying to sound convincing, but Paul's theory had caused him to question Frank's involvement in this.
"If Cyn's not here, she's probably already made her way back to your flat and is waiting for you so you two can have it out." Paul said.
"You think?"
"She's done it before, mate." Paul smiled.
Paul was right. This wouldn't have been the first time Cynthia would have walked out and left him at a club because she was upset. She had done it a handful of times while they were dating in Liverpool, but usually he knew the reason when she did it...tonight, however, felt different.

John's eyes burned as he made himself a cup of tea. He hadn't slept all night, waiting for Cynthia to show up. Now that it was morning and she still wasn't there, his worry had gone through the roof and he had finally decided to called Brian. Brian had encouraged him to try to relax, but he simply couldn't. He was sure it had been Frank who had taken Cynthia. But where was Audrey?
As he finished his cup of tea, John heard a knock on the door. He answered, expecting to see Brian, but instead found himself staring at Detective Sergeant Clarke and Sergeant Hall. Brian was behind them and John opened the door widely so all three of them could come in.
"I didn't call you so you could call the bloody cops, Eppy." John said rather upset to Brian as he walked past him.
"Mr. Lennon...I know you don't believe it's necessary for us to be here." Sergeant Hall said. "But I assure you that your wife's disappearance is something that can't be taken lightly...especially when Frank Zande is involved."
"Can you confirm he is involved in all of this?" John questioned.
"We don't have clear evidence, Mr. Lennon, but the fact that he has targeted you means that we need to assume he will go after your family."
"You can assume this?" John yelled. "I was the first one to say I wanted Cyn out of the country! But it was you who said she should stay...that she shouldn't do anything out of the ordinary! And now you're telling me we should assume Frank will go after her and Julian! Well it's a little too late for fuckin' assumptions!"
"John..." Brian said softly trying to calm him down.
"You were supposed to see to it that nothing happened to her. You were supposed to be watching her! Keeping an eye on her!" he yelled at the two men.
"John...where's Julian?" Brian asked.
"With Mimi." John said.
"We'll arrange for your son to leave the country as soon as possible." Detective Sergeant Clarke remarked.
John sighed with frustration as he sat down. "What about my wife?" He asked.
"We were hoping we could talk to Audrey. She may be able to-"
"Audrey's gone missing too." John said interrupting Sergeant Hall.
"You didn't mention that when we talked, John." Brian said.
"Well I'm fuckin' mentioning it now."
Both sergeants looked at each other. They mumbled something to each other, but John was unable to hear them.
"What?" John questioned. "What is it?"
"Umm, Mr. Lennon...do you think it may be possible that Audrey could still be working for Frank Zande?" Sergeant Hall asked.
"How do you mean? Frank still thinks she's working for him." John said a bit confused.
"Right..." Sergeant Hall said. "But could she still be working for him...for real."
"What are you getting at? That Audrey set me up?"
"It could be possible that she never stopped working for him. Maybe part of the plan was for you to find out what she was doing...so you'd trust her. So you'd think she was on your side...on our side..."
"No...it makes no sense...why would she tell you everything about Frank if she was still working for him?"
"Mr. Lennon, unfortunately, these types of...girls are trained to do exactly that. Tell you what you want to hear. They may even have a script already written out to tell us if they get caught. You have to remember that seduction is not always about sex...seduction is the art of manipulation...about you doing what she wants you to do...believing what she wants you to believe..."
