Overhearing the agent speaking from the kitchen, Law made his way to the door beside you. He looked down as the color left your face.

“Forgive the late introduction - I'm Koby and this is my partner Helmeppo.” The young man in front of you glanced up at Law and back to you before clearing his throat,"W-would you mind if we came in to ask a few questions?"

Your mouth had gone dry.
This was it.
Your infidelity had caught up with you and now Law was part of it.

Tattooed knuckles brushed against yours gently as he stood by you,"Of course, come in."
Thankfully with your fiance's help, you managed to gather yourself,"My apologies, we weren't expecting company. Would you like something to drink?"

Both men passed over your threshold taking cursory glances at your apartment.

"No need to trouble yourself," the pinkette answered taking a deep breath,"it smells amazing in here."
"Ah, we were just doing some wedding stuff." you said in a shakier voice than intended.
"F/N-ya is a talented pastry chef, we were doing a taste test for the cake." Law added coolly, "Perhaps you can have a piece while asking your questions."
"It would be impolite to turn down something she worked hard on." the blonde rubbed his cleft chin.

After getting the agents settled in your living room and served a slice of their preferred cake you sat on the sofa with Law. From what you could tell your fiance was unfazed by your uninvited guests. He moved confidently and spoke clearly. You felt like you were catching a glimpse of Law the surgeon.

"Our apologies for disrupting your evening," Helmeppo added, "We'll try to keep this brief."

Your leg began to shake, a subconscious anxiety induced reaction. Sensing your attempt to self-soothe Law calmly placed his right hand on your knee. It wasn’t meant to stop you, but to let you know it was OK.

The gesture made your stomach flip. Though you were spending much more of your time together, the two of you didn't have much physical contact. The evening was filling up with firsts and you didn't know what to do with yourself.

Koby watched you bashfully glance from your fiance’s tattooed hand back up to his face. He noted your reaction and looked back up as your betrothed began to speak.

“It’s fine,” Law replied, “how can we help you, gentlemen?”
"We've come to ask a few questions about Marco Newgate." Helmeppo spoke as he flipped through a small notebook.
You bristled, "What about him?"
"Well, we know the two of you had been… involved with each other." The blonde started.
"We've had reports that he's been acting unusually for a few months." Kobe added eyeing your every move.

Law's hand remained, giving your knee a gentle squeeze. You could feel yourself being pulled back down into the moment.

"While speaking to a former lover isn't exactly prohibited," Helmeppo continued, "it's not very common. Especially after one or both parties have been matched. Part of Mr. Newgate's strange behavior includes visiting your business a few nights ago, after closing."
"While you were alone." The pinkette stated further.

Your stomach squeezed and you took in a quiet breath. Would it be safe to tell them the truth? You still cared for Marco and didn't want to just throw him under the bus. You had both been very hurt by your forced break up and it was safe to say neither of you were handling it well. Marco, unfortunately, seemed to be worse off.

"She wasn't alone very long." Law interjected, " I arrived shortly after."
"But what exactly was the nature of his visit Ms. L/N?" Koby asked, "He didn't seem to be very pleased when he left."
"He wanted to place an order." The confidence in your voice surprised you and drew your fiance's attention back to you.
"An order?" The younger agent echoed.
You nodded, clearing your throat, "I'm sure they've reported it by now, but they are expecting their first…and he wanted to place a cake order for the shower."
Koby scoffed quietly, "A baby shower wouldn't be for a few more months."
"Her specialty orders are on a wait-list." Law voiced evenly.
"Yes, he assumed I'd make an exception. But their…" you fumbled trying to get the rest of the sentence out, "...b-baby will be due during peak wedding season for those who put in extensions just for the warmer weather."
Helmeppo diligently scribbled notes, "So, is it safe to assume you've had no other contact with him?"
"I don't even have his number anymore."
"Thank you for your cooperation then." Koby stood slipping back into his coat as his partner rose too, "We'll take our leave now. We are expecting this conversation to stay between us."
"Of course," Law stood as well offering you the hand that had been keeping you grounded through the short but tense interview.

The four of you walked to the door biding each other polite farewells.

"You're full of surprises today." Law murmured as you locked the door.
"I don't even know where it came from." you moved into the living room to clear the dishes.
"While I'm impressed by how quickly you came up with that, we should probably have a plan."
"Fuck," you sighed setting the plates in the sink, "I'm going to have to talk to him aren't I?"
Law stepped next to you gently moving you aside before turning on the faucet, "Not directly. They are clearly keeping tabs on him."
You watched him begin to wash the dishes, "Zoro…"
"Your cousin? You don't think they'd be suspicious of that?" He handed you a wet plate as you picked up a clean dish towel.
"No, he's best friends with Marco's little brother. He's at their house a lot."
Law hummed, "You should ask him to drop by tomorrow."
"Right, the sooner the better I guess."

"You're kidding me," your cousin looked from you to your fiance, "tell me she's kidding."
Law sighed, "Her jokes are usually better than this."
Your face warmed up but you remained focused on the greenette, "I'm serious."
"F/N, you can't just go around lying to government agents."
"Yes, thank you. I'm very aware of the situation." you huffed crossing your arms.
"What are you smirking at? What happens when she gets caught?"

Law turned away briefly to get his expression under control. The truth was he was sort of amused. Your defiant side was new and watching this exchange with your cousin was, for lack of a better word, cute.

"The goal is not getting caught, Zoro-ya." his silver eyes slipped over you, "What's done is done, with your help we can hopefully end it before things get more complicated than they already are."
Zoro ran his hands over his face before looking up at you and Law, "You owe me so much booze for this."
