"I see swimming pools and living rooms and aeroplanes
I see a little house on the hill and children's names
I see quiet nights poured over ice and Tanqueray
But everything is shattering and it's my mistake"
Jimin saw red. He felt anger pulsating through his vein. Red was the colour which best described the tempest slowly building up in Jimin's head. Who the hell did Yoongi think he was. How could he randomly say something like that to Jimin. For the first time in a year Jimin had thought that maybe he could make a conversation with someone out of his comfort zone but Yoongi had turned it to an argument. Jimin was angry on Taehyung too. His best friend was going to receive an earful from him for dragging him into such an uncomfortable situation.
Jimin had heard those exact words before in a not so distant past. Immediately his life had changed. He had lost everything that was near and dear to him. How could he respond to Yoongi when his chest was break from an excruciating pain.
Moving back to Seoul had been Jimin's dad Shi Jin's idea. Jimin had wanted to leave behind Busan and everything that had messed up his life in that city and never look back. He had thought that moving back home would give him some peace but he was wrong. Whatever Jimin did made him feel trapped. Jimin could barely make a conversation with a stranger. Yoona, his mom had asked Jimin to move in with them but Jimin had refused. After all he was an adult and he could take care of himself. Taehyung had saved him when he had moved to Seoul too after getting the job of the head of the Music Production Department at Big Hit. Taehyung's paycheck had helped him to find a luxurious apartment and he had asked Jimin to stay with him which Jimin had accepted. Jimin had wanted to share the price of the apartment but Taehyung had absolutely refused and told him that he was keeping Jimin, that would save him the cost of a cook since Taehyung absolutely sucked at cooked. Jimin had rolled his eyes and persuaded Taehyung to share the bills with him. The best thing about living with Taehyung was that he mostly stayed out due to deadlines and Jimin would have the whole house to himself and some quiet.
Yoona would often call her son to hang out with them. At the beginning Jimin would go frequently but slowly he restricted it to only on the weekends. He knew that his parents loved him but he could see the worry clearly etched on Yoona's face whenever he would notice her looking at him. Jimin would mostly spend his time walking through the city. He had found a job as an art teacher in a kid's centre which required him to go to work only four days a week. On one such day he had found Seokjin's café. Seokjin's café was small but due to Jin, the owner's warm personality Jimin felt comfortable there. Jin had tried to talk to Jimin one day but Jimin's lack of social skills had ruined the whole thing.
Everything was going fine until Min Yoongi entered his life. The older male raised feelings in Jimin which he hated to admit. The first day when Jimin had been mocked by Yoongi because of his plain order, Jimin had been angry on Yoongi. He wanted to complain to Jin but the thought of making Jin understand the whole thing discouraged him. He had decided to ignore Yoongi but slowly he had also started to anticipate the hour he spent in the café. He would always think on his way to the café what flavor muffin Yoongi would serve him that day and Jimin would always be in for a surprise. He did not even know so many different flavours of muffin existed in the first place. Jimin was almost sad the day Taehyung had called him to hang out at his office. He had thought he would have to bunk his café hour that day. Jimin did not understand what made him feel so.
To say that Jimin was shocked to see Yoongi with Taehyung in the cafeteria would be an understatement. Jimin's heart was racing and he hated feeling like that. Jimin was surprised to learn that Yoongi had composed the song 'Tomorrow'. Taehyung was not the only one obsessed with it, Jimin liked it too. The lyrics were beautiful and had struck his heart. They had made Jimin remember a time when he had a life, dreams, friends and a smile on his face. Yoongi was clearly talented and Jimin was happy that Taehyung's company had gained such an asset. Only if Yoongi worked on his attitude maybe talking to him would be easier.
Jimin decided to cook ramen for himself. From the likes of it Taehyung would not be home today and even if he came he could very well make himself something. Jinmin knew that Taehyung hated cooking and it would be the best punishment for him. Didn't Taehyung already know how he felt about strangers. Jimin ate his dinner and went to take a hot shower.
The bell rang five minutes after Jimin came out of the shower. Jimin opened the door to find Taehyung standing outside.
- "Thought you wouldn't come today. Anyway I am going to my room."
- "Wait Chimchim, why did you leave today?"
Jimin hated it when Taehyung called 'Chimchim' the stupid name he had earned from his classmates for having chubby cheeks.
- ...
- "Jimin answer me."
- "Tae, do you really want me to explain?"
- "Well yeah!"
Jimin felt frustrated at Taehyung's lack of understanding. He decided to let it be and just go to his room. Jimin wanted to go to bed fast. Maybe tomorrow everything would seem better. Jimin turned to walk to his room but was stopped by Tehyung.
- "No Jimin, wait! Yoongi hyung is not bad. I met him for the first time today and felt as if I have known him for a long time. He is really nice. That is the reason I brought him with me."
- "Well he is not nice to me."
- "Jimin, the muffin thing is really funny. At least he is trying to change your disgusting food habits. I am happy."
- "Well he shouldn't do that. It is none of his business what I eat. It isn't his business to get to know me either."
- "Wait what?"
Jimin mentally cursed himself. Taehyung was not easily going to let this go.
- "Yoongi hyung likes you?"
- "I never said that."
- "Then?"
- "He just said he wants to know me."
- "He definitely likes you."
- "Have you thought it over that he might not be into men and could very well have a girlfriend?"
- "Well he is single and very much gay."
- "How do you know that?"
- "I asked him."
- "What?"
- "Think about it Jimin. Maybe that is the reason he gives you the wrong order everyday to get some reaction from you."
- "Tae, go to sleep."
- "Jimin maybe you should try to know him too. He is clearly talented and very handsome. Soon he is going to be fucking rich. Think about it."
JImin's eyes watered. He wanted to slap Taehyung and never see his face again. Maybe he should have just got a place by himself. He wanted to avoid home because of his mom's match making and apparently Taehyung was doing the same thing.
- "Tae, how can you say that?"
Taehyung noticed his friend crying. Taehyung felt panic rising in him. He clearly did not want to upset Jimin he just wanted his friend to move on from the past and according to him Yoongi was a good option. Taehyung hugged Jimin. Jimin tried to struggle against him but Taehyung's height helped him to hold the shorter male tight against him.
- "Jimin-ah I did not want to upset you. I hate to see you suffer everyday because of that son of a bitch."
Taehyun felt Jimin's breath hitch. It was clear that Jimin was still affected by that monster. The worst day of Taehyung's life had been the day he had found Jimin dying on the floor of their apartment in Busan. He had made Jimin promise that he would try to heal himself but clearly Jimin had not healed.
- "Jimin you promised."
- "I can't Tae. I try to but I just can't."
Taehyung looked at Jimin. Jimin was clearly sobbing now. Taehyung just wanted to have a playful chat with his friend. He could not understand how the situation turned to a drama.
- "Jimin you have to. You can't let him win. I wanted to file a complaint against him. We should have gone to the police but you did not let me."
- "Tae please stop. I am saying it to you for the last time that I hate him with all my heart but a part of me still loves him. I can't change that. He was my first everything. I wanted to move away from everything that is why I left everything behind. I don't want to go back."
- "Then why do you live miserably? It pains me to see you suffer everyday. Why wouldn't you talk to Yoongi hyung?"
- "Where is Yoongi coming into this?"
- "It is not about Yoongi, Jimin. It is about you."
- "Tae I know what am I doing. Stop pretending you care. Dad lectures me, mom lectures me, you lecture me too, Yoongi mocks me. Do you think I am fucking stupid? I can take care of myself."
- "Know what Jimin fuck off."
- "You fuck off too Tae."
Jimin ran back to his room and threw himself on the bed. He hadn't talked to Taehyung like this in a long time. It was just like those days when Taehyung used to lecture him everyday about dating that monster. Jimin knew Taehyung was right but letting go of the past was not easy. It could never be. He hated Yoongi, because of that cocky bastard he was feeling so many things after a long time. He had fought with Taehyung whom he loved like a brother. It was a good thing that Yoongi had got the job. He would not have to see Yoongi in the café anymore. Slowly everything would go back to normal. He would get his peace back.
Somewhere in a park in Seoul Yoongi sat looking at the stars in the sky. He came to that park often whenever he would miss his parents. His dad had taught him the name of all the constellations in the sky. He would try to identify them. But today he came there to call his grandma after a long time.
- "Grandma?"
- "Yoongi-ah? How are you my boy?"
- "Grandma I got the job."
- "Really? That is great news. I know you could make it. Your parents would have been proud."
- "Grandma I miss you."
- "Yoongi, did you call me just to tell me about your job. I know that tune young man. I am suspecting a boy. Is it so?"
Yoongi smiled to himself. Everyone in Daegu had said that Yoongi resembled his grandma more than his parents. Yoongi had definitely inherited her pale skin and black hair but his height was from his mother's side. Yoongi's grandma Min Mina was a seventy year old woman but a very intelligent one. She could always tell everything about Yoongi by just looking at his face.
- "Well he absolutely hates me."
- "I am not surprised."
- "Why is that?"
- "Well you must have done something to irritate him."
- "What?"
- "Yes Yoongi you always do that when you try to hide your feelings for someone."
- "What are you saying?"
- "Yoongi you are a good boy. If you think you have met the right person then try to win his heart. You have to be chivalrous"
- 'Well my chivalry is not really getting me anywhere. I am definitely attracted to him. But how do I know if it is something real and not just an infatuation?"
- "You would not have called me if it was an infatuation. I know you too well. Maybe it is love at first sight."
- "What rubbish?"
- "Yoongi, love is a very different thing. You cannot decide with whom or where you fall in love with. You just do. And from what I hear you definitely feel something for him."
- "But he hates my sight."
- "Then woo him."
- "Oh grandma, you are embarrassing me."
Yoongi felt heat rising in his face. Yoongi never knew Min Mina could give such advice.
- "Yoongi I have faith in you."
- "Bye grandma."
- "Bye."
Yoongi thought about that afternoon. He should have been a little careful when he spoke to Jimin. Yoongi would have to leave the job at the café soon. That meant he would not be able to see Jimin anymore. He could not understand what to do. Moreover talking with taehyung Yoongi had understood that somewhere something was definitely wrong. There had to be a reason why Jimin always felt attacked whenever Yoongi talked to him. But he truly wanted to know Jimin. He liked the younger male and there was no denying that.
" What happened to you Park Jimin?" Yoongi thought on his way back home.
