Chapter Two

Hello minna san! Updating again for the second night in a row, though I do hope to finish this chapter in one night...

Enjoy! ~(˘▾˘~)                (~˘▾˘)~              \ (•◡•) /

YN yawned and blinked rapidly as she woke up the next morning. Erza seemed to have gotten up already, as well as Mizu. Both had left the building. YN rubbed her eyes and got up. There were a few other people sleeping but most had gotten up already. She made her way outside and waited until her eyes adjusted to the bright sunny light.

The entire village was at a large dining hall, eating breakfast, including the children, who had been let out at sunrise. Erza was talking to one of the villagers over breakfast, and Mizu was happily playing with the children. YN made her way over to Mizu.

"Hey, YN! You finally woke up! You're so lazy," Mizu teased.

"Well I didn't sleep nearly as much as you did yesterday, on the train, walking to the village. I haven't seen you awake until now," YN retorted playfully.

"That's no excuse, YN. Erza got up even earlier than me."

"That's Erza. It doesn't count."

Mizu giggled as a couple of little girls braided her fur. "These kids are so much fun! So lively and energetic," she said.

YN smiled and left them to it. She made her way to the counter to get breakfast. The man behind the counter looked at the black Fairy Tail insignia on her right shoulder.

"Oh another couple o' wizards come to 'save our village.' Just gonna be another couple o' mouths to feed," he scoffed.

YN was offended at first but then softened. "That many people have failed?"

"More than that many. I don't know why we still hope," he replied with a defeated air about him.

"I'm sure we won't fail. We're Fairy Tail wizards. We don't know the meaning of give up," said YN.

"Not giving up doesn't matter. Not if you try forever but fail each time,"

"It does matter. It shows belief in the fact that there is a way to achieve success. One just needs to find it. Besides, I already know what the curse is and how to fix it," said YN lightly.

The man brightened. "Really? How?"

YN solemnly stated, "I'm going to need a human sacrifice, someone willing to give their life to protect their village and children."

The man looked terrified. "I'm kidding! The moon doesn't need a human sacrifice to stop its curse!" YN laughed. The man smiled, "I haven't smiled in quite some time. I think you guys may just be the ones to lift the curse."

"Me too, sir," said YN. She finished her meal and went to Erza.

"What's up, Erza?"

"Nothing. I want to know what we can do to pass the time while waiting for night."

"I already know," YN said, "I'm gonna play with the children. They're so much fun when they ain't demons!"

Erza nodded and with that YN headed outside. She stretched and did some exercises so that she wasn't stiff all day. She then trained a little and showed off some attacks to the children, making them stare in awe at the "pretty sparkly purple magic." She played with the children and ate with them, learning the names of each and what they liked to do.

Eventually, they were all in a massive game of hide and seek. YN closed her eyes and counted to 50, giving the kids plenty of time to hide. She sent a purple flare into the air to signal she was done counting. She stood still and listened.

Heavy breathing told her a few kids were hiding inside a hollow tree, a twig snapping told her one was behind a rock, and some rustling leaves told her more were hiding up in the trees. She quickly found them all, except for Mizu. After pretending she didn't know where Mizu was hidden, YN looked up and saw Mizu high in the air, holding her hands over her mouth to stop giggling..

At noon, YN decided to take a nap. All the children groaned.

"Sorry guys, but I'm gonna be up all night fixing the moon, and I don't want to accidentally make a mistake."

After a few hours of sleep, YN woke up. It was nearing sunset. The children were being led back into the large house. YN stood in front of the house, giving a hug to each of them.

"When you guys come out tomorrow, you will be cured, I promise."

Each gave her a big smile and headed in. When the last one entered, the villagers shut the heavy doors and Erza came to stand next to her.

"So what are you going to do, YN?"

"I am going to keep up a magic circle made to nullify and destroy the effects of the moon all night long. After a night of this, the moon should return to normal, as well as the children."

"Do you need me to do something?"

"Actually, yes. I need to concentrate a lot and this requires a lot of magic power. Any lapse in concentration could end in disaster. I need you to keep everyone away. I can only have the children near me, so I will stay on the dome. Make sure no one comes close, even if they hear the screams. Physical force is advised."

"Easy."

YN climbed to the top of the dome and peeked into the window.

"M'kay guys," she called, "The night is about to begin! Get ready!"

A chorus of "Hai"s answered her. She smiled and sat. The sun went down. It was time to begin.

YN folded her hands in a specific formation, the tips of her thumb, index, and middle fingers touching while the ring and pinky fingers were folded. She brought her hands level with her upper chest and closed her eyes. A huge magic circle spread around the entire village, the center was where she sat. Her hair rose as if she were in water and floated around her. At that point she did not move a muscle, keeping her eyes closed and her face void of any emotion. Utter concentration on the spell was all her mind was on.

From below her, whimpers filled the building as the children transformed into mini demons. This was normal for the villagers to hear, so no one freaked out as they watched from afar through their windows. Erza watched YN closely for any signs of strain or physical harm, but made sure no one went anywhere farther than where she was.

YN ignored the whimpers and focused on keeping the spell up and working. So far her magic power was doing fine. She had made sure to eat a lot so that hunger wouldn't distract her. The hard part was going to start in about three hours, when the spell would go through the hardest phase, cleansing the children. It was most difficult to concentrate then, and it required more magic power. YN kept her magic flowing steadily, careful not to overdo it and make a mistake.

Everything went fine. After about an hour, a brawl ensued inside the dome among the children. This was also normal for the villagers. Throughout the entire brawl, YN did not move a muscle. The only part of her that moved was her hair swaying slightly in the small breeze, but it still stayed floating in the air.

In the second hour of the night, Erza had to stop a man from going to the dome. He apparently always visited his son at this time. The man was persistent, and wouldn't stop arguing until Erza drew a sword to his neck and threatened his life if he did not go back to his home. YN ignored it all and did not stop concentrating, much to Erza's relief.

Then came the third hour. YN poured more of her magic power into the spell at a steady pace, knowing this stage required more effort. Her magic was at a 75 percent at this point. The moment she poured more magic in, screams sounded from below. She did not move a muscle or break her concentration. She ignored the screams and pressed on.

Below, the children turned demons screamed and threw themselves at walls, trying to stop the pain as the magic of their new Fairy Tail friend cleansed them and slowly removed the demon.

Parent and villagers rushed out of their homes and stared at the building. Some moved toward it. Erza brought out her Heaven's Wheel armor and enough swords to stop the villagers from taking another step forward. She glared at the villagers, daring them to come closer.

The villagers had been warned of the screaming that would happen, but they still came out. Erza advanced with her swords, as silent as possible, pushing the people back to their homes. Meanwhile, the screams kept the people moving slowly. As soon as the last villager went inside, Erza breathed a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, YN had still not moved a muscle. The screams continued for three hours, until finally the children had been cleansed. The demons inside them were considerably weakened. When the spell was done and the sun came up, the demons would disappear with the last Demon Moon this village would ever know. By now, YN's magic was at a 10 percent. She stopped sending in as much magic power, keeping a steady pace, just a little at a time.

Erza sensed that she was running out of magic power. There were two more hours to go. This was the easiest stage. Only a very small amount of power was needed at a steady pace for the last two hours, since it was just the finishing touches on the moon.

You can do it, YN!!

An hour went by. The whimpers in the dome diminished until there was no sound except deep breathing of sleeping beings. YN continued concentrating on pouring her magic in steadily.

A half hour left...

Fifteen minutes....

Five minutes....

One minute....

Thirty seconds...

Sunrise.

The magic circle reversed back, getting smaller and smaller until it disappeared at the spot YN sat as. She kept her eyes closed. Puffs of smoke came out from the dome. Villagers streamed out, worried about a fire where their kids could not escape. Erza let not one pass.

Then, YN's hair fell down, back in place. She opened her eyes and smiled.

"It worked. I managed to do it correctly." At that, her eyes closed again and she fell down the dome, asleep.

Before she could hit the ground, Mizu caught her and laid her carefully on the grass.

"She's exhausted. And her magic power is almost gone. I'll get her inside so that she can rest," said Mizu. With that, she flew YN to the place they stayed the night before.

Erza opened the door to the dome. Inside, all the children lay peacefully asleep, scratched up from their brawl. "We can't tell if they will still turn to demons right now because it is sunrise, but we will stay one last day to make sure," she told the chief.

The chief nodded. "Whatever it takes."

~Time skip brought to you by: Natsu's childlike adorableness!~

YN opened her eyes and yawned widely. Last night had exhausted almost all her magic power, but she knew that the spell had worked. It was worth it. She got up and rubbed her eyes, getting used to the brightness. Then she walked outside.

She was greeted immediately by Mizu and Erza.

"Yay! You're finally up! You've been asleep for hours," said Mizu.

YN smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I was super tired, I guess." She picked Mizu up and hugged her.

Erza spoke up, "We are staying here for one last night, just to make sure the spell worked perfectly. I'm pretty sure it did, though, since the barriers came down. All the other guild wizards left already. They say thanks."

YN nodded. "Where are the kids?"

"In the infirmary. They had a particularly nasty fight last night, and they were throwing themselves against walls," Erza said.

"I can heal them," said YN. "Where's the infirmary?"

"I don't think using your magic right now is the best idea, YN. You already spent all night using it," Erza advised.

"It doesn't matter. Where are they?"

After being shown the way, YN entered the infirmary. The children lay peacefully, but with scratches and bruises all over them. YN pulled up her mini archive and set it to Wendy's power, which she had chosen to save for healing purposes. She got to work, ignoring protests from the village's healer.

By the time she was finished, her magic had depleted again, but the children were running around happily, as if they had never been hurt. With that, YN yawned and went back to sleep, only to wake up later, at sunset.

The children were being herded back into the dome.

"What are you guys doing? They're cured," YN said sleepily.

"We don't know for sure if the spell worked perfectly, so we're just taking some precautions."

YN scoffed, "This is my magic. I know I didn't screw it up."

The villagers shrugged and continued. YN shook her head and leaned against the dome, yawning.

The moon came out. YN eagerly started to feast on moonlight, replenishing her magic power quickly. When she was full, she sighed contentedly.

The children remained hyper inside the dome, but completely human. Villagers looked at each other and yelled in joy, quickly opening the doors and celebrating with their children.

"I told ya," said YN in an indifferent tone.

Villagers thanked the happy go lucky dragon slayer while YN happily patted her stomach, relieved to finally have her power back.

The next day was payment day.

"You should take it all," Erza said, pushing the 7 million jewel to her. "I mean, you pretty much did everything."

YN pushed the jewels away. "You kept the villagers away, I wouldn't have been able to do this without you. Half for me, half for you."

After some arguing, Erza said, "Fine, you get 5 million, I get 2 million."

Some more arguing, but Erza clearly was not going to change her mind. YN reluctantly accepted. Oh well, 1.5 million more than expected. They walked back to the train station.

"Erza, can you knock me out? I don't wanna deal with the tra-"

YN got her wish before she could finish her statement, and with that, they headed back to Magnolia.

M'kay guys so that was the second chapter! 2400 words! Not too bad if I do say so myself.

Natsu: Even I could do more

Me: stfu natsu

Natsu: language

Me: the f is for... uhh...fubshnickles

Natsu: suuuure

Me: *glares* anyway, I know there wasn't much Natsu in this chapter *cough cough* none *cough cough* but there will be. I hope you guys like your magic!

I realized that YN is super tired in this chapter. Must be a reflection of how I am feeling right now. BUT it is worth it. I started this chapter three hours ago and finally finished it in the same night as I finished the chapter I started yesterday! I got to publish two in one night!

How accomplished am I? (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

I had to research Erza's armor to get the one I felt would fit the description and to get the attacks right. Plus, I did a lot of thinking into the stages of the spell, what it looked like, and tried hard with imagery to give y'all a good description of what to see in your mind.

I put a lot of effort into this so that you guys do not have to read a quest that consists of something like:

-- YN did a spell. Time skip. Spell ends. Quest over. TO MAGNOLIA--

Because I feel like most people don't put effort into scenes that could really be cool if they tried, y'know?

So I hope you guys truly liked reading this. The point of this quest was to give you a small sense of your magic and power because this is a Fairy Tail fanfic. It isn't just love. There's gotta be fights. I also want y'all to know you don't get weak and have to be saved every other chapter, though I might add in one of those for fun.... :3

I also spent a bit of time choosing a Natsu picture that stood out from the rest that I have to make up for Natsu not appearing. The one I used really stood out. (I have sooo many Natsu pics so that's saying something....)  。◕‿‿◕。

Have a nice day or night guys!!!!!!
