Chapter 3 ~ The Aftermath

I woke up the next morning, feeling sore all over. I groaned as I sat up, rubbing my eyes. When I looked beside me, I saw a naked Draco Malfoy in my bed, making me widen my eyes.

Oh, no. I had sex with Draco Malfoy last night.

I screamed, mortified that we were both in the same bed with no clothes on.

He woke up and fell off the bed. "What the hell?!"

"We had sex last night!" I blurted out.

"No shit," he mumbled.

"Where are my clothes at?" I looked around the room, covering myself. "Where the hell are my clothes?!"

Draco found my clothes and threw them at me. I stayed on the other side of the bed as we dressed ourselves. It was completely awkward. I wanted to go in a corner and die of embarrassment. I had sex with Draco Malfoy last night. I lost my virginity to Draco Malfoy last night.

Once we were both dressed, we looked at each other. He smirked at me as I felt my cheeks burn up.

"What are you smirking at?" I asked.

"Your face is turning red," he pointed out.

"Get out!" I shouted.

His smirk went away as he sighed and left my room, shutting the door behind him.

I wanted to kill him. But I was too sore to do anything now. I now regretted everything that happened last night.

But something told me that I really enjoyed it. Ugh, what the hell was I thinking? I hated being a girl.

*******

Throughout the entire day, Draco and I avoided each other. At breakfast, we didn't look at each other. Lunch was the same deal. But when dinner rolled by, Narcissa finally said something.

"Why are you two not speaking to each other? It's not like you two to do this."

"Why don't you ask her?" Draco inquired, looking at me.

"Max?" she said.

I shot a glare his way, then cleared my throat. "When Draco came into my room last night...well, we..."

"We shagged," Draco blurted out.

"What? Please tell me that you used protection!"

"Wow, way to give me a chance to break the news to your mother," I retorted.

"Why are you acting like you're ashamed of what we did? I'm pretty sure you told me that you wanted to forget about the nightmare. Did I not do that?" Draco said, ignoring his mother.

"But now I can't forget about what we did last night!"

"Did Diggory ever make you forget like I did?"

I froze. My eyes were already forming tears. I stormed out of the dining room and ran upstairs into my room, slamming the door. I leaned against the door, crying my eyes out. Bringing up last night was one thing, but bringing up my dead boyfriend was crossing the line, even for Draco.

I heard a soft knock on my door. "Max?" I didn't answer. It was Draco. "Can we talk? I'm sorry about what I said. I didn't mean it. Come on, Max. You know, it's rare that I call you by your first name, so you should talk to me." I couldn't help but scoff a little. "I can hear you."

"I don't want to talk to you right now," I snapped. "Just go away, Draco."

He sighed in defeat and I heard him walk away from my door. He called me beautiful. But I was still mad at him. So mad that I decided to write to Harry. I sat down at the desk and began writing.

Dear Harry,

It's only been two days since I wrote to you, but I did something horrible last night. I can't tell you in a letter. It's too horrible to say on paper. I'm still wondering if I want to tell you. You might disown me. Hopefully, you won't do that. I'll see you soon.

Max

I grabbed Hedwig from Narcissa's room and sent the letter. After that, I decided to take a shower. I grabbed my towel and pajamas and headed inside the bathroom. I stripped all of my clothes off and turned on the water. That hot water felt so good, since my room was cold half of the time. I washed my hair for a good ten minutes and stood in the shower for another five minutes. I turned off the water and got out of the shower, wrapping a towel around my body. At the same time, Draco came in with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Draco!" I shrieked. "What the hell are you doing in here?!"

"The same reason you're in here," he replied.

"You could've at least waited until I was dressed, or just go to another bathroom."

"I could have. But I decided not to." He smirked and headed towards the shower. I heard him drop his towel on the floor.

"Draco!"

"What?"

"Did you really have to drop your towel like that?"

"Well, one doesn't shower with a towel on."

"I know that. Just turn around while I change."

"Why?"

"I don't want you to see me naked!"

"Too late for that," he mumbled.

I rolled my eyes and looked in the mirror. I spotted a red mark on my neck. "You gave me a hickey?!"

"I wasn't thinking last night," he commented. I scoffed and dropped my towel in the basket. I quickly placed my pajamas on and headed for the door. "I'm sorry, Max."

I stopped and thought about turning around. But instead, I walked out the bathroom.

*******

It was around eleven o'clock when I went outside and sat by the garden.

I was still mad at Draco. I wanted to talk to him, but at the same time, I didn't want to. It was already awkward enough. The sex, the encounter in the bathroom. Everywhere I was at, it seemed like he wanted to follow me. Even though there were times where I wanted to kill him, I always found him as a sense of comfort after Cedric died.

"Hey." I turned around and saw Draco with a blanket in his hands. "Aren't you cold?"

"I'm fine," I said.

"Here." He sat down beside me and placed the blanket over both of us. "Better?"

"Yeah." I slightly smiled.

"How do you feel? After last night, I mean."

I shrugged. "A bit sore."

He nodded. "So why are you out here?" he questioned.

"I didn't want to have another nightmare," I admitted.

"You could've gone to my room," he said. I didn't respond. He paused for a moment and then began talking again. "You know, I really am sorry. I didn't mean to be so harsh at dinner."

"It was low that you brought Cedric up like that."

"Did you really love him?"

I nodded. "Why did my name on your calendar have a heart around it?" I asked.

"Is that why my name on your calendar had a heart over it?" I asked.

"You saw that?" I nodded. "Well, that's embarrassing."

"I found it cute, actually." I smiled.

He smiled back. "I've always found you cute. It just took me this long to tell you. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I enjoyed last night."

I looked down at our feet and hesitated before answering. "Me, too." I never thought I would admit it to him, but I really did enjoy last night with him. No matter how wrong it was to say it.

"I want you to give me an honest answer to what I'm about to ask you." I nodded and looked at him. "Were you a virgin?"

I hesitated. "Isn't it obvious? Yes, I was," I replied, nodding. "Were you?"

He nodded as well. "Yeah. Interesting first time for both of us, wasn't it?" He paused, sighing. "Really, I shouldn't have kissed you, not in the state you were in."

"What if I liked the kiss?" I said.

Draco looked at me in shock. "You liked it?"

"If I didn't, then I wouldn't want you to kiss me right now." His mouth opened slightly, looking a little surprised. "Kiss me, Draco."

He cupped my chin with his hand and his breath was on mine instantly.

We sat there for a long time, kissing and holding each other. It felt nice, knowing that Draco was now my friend. At least it seemed that way. He was now a sense of comfort whenever I needed one, and I was sure that I was his sense of comfort whenever he needed someone to talk to. We were both messed up in our own way. And talking to each other made everything go away.

"We can't continue this when it's time to go back to Hogwarts," he whispered to me after he pulled away.

"It doesn't have to end."

"You and I both know this can't go on. Your brother--"

"Harry could care less about my love life," I interrupted. "Plus, during our fourth year, I asked him how he felt if I went out with you."

"What did he say?"

"He said that as long as I was happy then he was happy."

"I would be happy, you know."

I scoffed. "Like when you're with Pansy? You always seemed so happy when you kissed her. And the way she smiled at you--"

"That's not what you thought it was, Max," he informed me. "Pansy and I only dated during third year and it was horrible. I was never happy with her. I only kissed her like that when I wanted to get my mind off things. I also wanted to make you jealous."

"Well, it didn't work," I commented.

He chuckled, "I didn't think it did. Anyway, she was so clingy and threatened any girl who tried talking to me. I finally broke it off with her and she's still trying to get back with me. That's why she got so mad last year when she saw us together."

"I remember," I said. "We almost kissed then."

"I remember that kiss back in fourth year," he said.

"And the kiss when I was in the Hospital Wing," I added. "Why did you do that, by the way?"

Draco sighed and looked down at his feet again. "Because I was jealous of you and Diggory. When we first kissed at the Yule Ball, I instantly felt something. But it was obvious that you didn't feel the same way. I shouldn't have even done it in the first place."

"So you waited when I was asleep to kiss me?" I questioned jokingly.

He laughed at my question. "Not my finest moment, I'll admit."

I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder, sighing in content. I placed his hand on his leg, where his hand was at, and slowly slid my fingers between his. The inside of his hand was soft and warm. I felt him kiss the top of my head, which made my heart flutter a little. My face was starting to heat up and I was hoping that Draco wouldn't notice it.

"Why can't we continue this at Hogwarts in secret?" I asked.

"It's more complicated than you think," he answered.

"Well, is it too complicated to ask you to kiss me again?" I asked, sitting up straight again to look at him.

He smiled and happily pressed his lips against mine. It was the best feeling ever when he kissed me like this. I never wanted it to stop for my sake of loving lips like those. While we were caught up in the moment, we heard the faint sound of a crack coming from a distance.

"Did you hear that?" I asked, pulling away from the kiss, looking around in a frantic way.

"It's probably nothing," he replied, cupping my face so that I was staring at him once more. "I'm really enjoying this moment, so let's not ruin it."

I slowly closed my eyes and nodded. "Right, sorry."

Then, he kissed me fully on the mouth again, drowning out the night that surrounded us.
