"Hey, Max!" Harry called me as he descended down the steps. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure." I nodded, getting up from my seat at the desk. We headed over to the couch and sat down beside each other. "Are you okay, bro? Did you hide the book?"

"Yes, I hid it," he replied. "Ginny helped me."

"Ginny helped you?" I asked in shock, raising my eyebrows at him.

"Well, that's one of the reasons I wanted to talk to you right now."

"What was the other reason?"

"I wanted to apologize about what I did to Malfoy yesterday."

I thought my heart stopped. "You do?"

"Yes. I shouldn't have done it. I had no idea what that spell did, and it was dumb of me to try it out, especially on someone who's friends with my sister."

I gave him a sad smile. "You really mean that?"

"Of course I do, Max. You're my sister, my best friend. Everything I said to you is coming from my heart. Well, not the bad things, of course, but you know what I mean."

"Okay, okay, I get it," I laughed. "I forgive you, Harry. But since we're talking about Malfoy, I went to see him last night."

"How did it go?"

I bit my lip, feeling my cheeks go red. "I may have kissed him..."

Harry's mouth dropped and then he started to laugh. "You kissed him?!"

"Well, I told him that I liked him. Turned out that he felt the same way, too. So I guess you could say that we're a couple now." I smiled, giggling in embarrassment and hiding my face in the pillow beside me. "Merlin, I just can't stop thinking about him!"

"I feel the same way about Ginny." My brother covered up his mouth after he said that last sentence.

"What do you mean?" I thought about it, then my mouth dropped. "What?! Did you, Harry James Potter, kiss Ginny Weasley while you two were hiding the book?!"

"Well, yeah, we kissed! I mean, it just sort of happened, really. Besides, she kissed me. There's a difference between me kissing her and her kissing me."

"Well, how come you let her kiss you? You're a man and you need to man up and go after Ginny!"

"Will you stop yelling?" he hissed, toning down his voice. "Look, it's obvious that Ginny feels something for me and I feel something for her. But I can't tell her. Not now."

"Why not?"

"Because we have a task to complete for Dumbledore and I can't let my feelings get in the way of this. It's too risky, Max."

I sighed in defeat, looking at Harry. "Fine. You go ahead and put your feelings aside for this task we have to complete for Dumbledore. But as for me, I'm going to go meet Draco." With that, I stood up from the couch and skipped out of the portal, heading towards the Room of Requirement.

Draco, Draco, Draco. I just couldn't get him out of my head. A full day didn't even go by yet and he was still in my mind, taking over my thoughts by the second. It was hard to admit that I, Maxine Lillian Potter, managed to wrap Draco Malfoy around my finger. It sounded crazy, right? Maybe because it was crazy.

When I got to the Room of Requirement, I went inside and found Draco already there. His face lit up when he saw me. I jumped on the bed, getting on top of him.

"Hello there, beautiful."

"Hey," I replied, biting my lip and leaning down to kiss him. I immediately closed my eyes when I felt his lips on mine.

"I was glad to see you didn't leave me this morning," he said after pulling away.

"Of course not. I didn't want to leave you."

He smiled and sat up, making me move beside him. "You know, I've been thinking about something."

"Okay, what is it?"

He didn't say anything for a moment. But a playful smirk came over his face. "Well, we've made up with our clothes on. So when are we going to make up without our clothes?"

I rolled my eyes. "We've done that already."

"Who says we can't do it again?" he replied, smirking.

I laughed out loud. "You're crazy, Draco!"

"Oh, please, Max. You know you love that side of me." He gave me a wink.

"Stop it." I whacked his arm then folded my arms over my chest. I sighed and looked down at the bed.

"What's wrong?" Draco asked, pulling my body against his and plopping onto his back on the bed. He began to stroke my hair, staring down at me.

I exhaled loudly, taking his hand and skimming my finger over the lines that were in his palm. "I just want this war to be over with, you know? I don't want to go through with it. Even if Harry and I are the Chosen Ones."

"You two can do it, Max. I know you can."

"But I don't want to see so many people die for us. I don't want to see you die." I sniffled a little, closing my eyes so that Draco wouldn't see me cry.

"Hey, it's alright," he said calmly, sliding his thumb across my cheek, catching the fallen tears. "It's alright, I'm right here. I'm right here with you. I'm not going to die. I promise."

I smiled weakly at him, wrapping my arms around him and resting my head on his chest. "Promise you won't leave me."

He gave me a sad sigh and expression. "Max, I can't make that promise. I'm going to have to leave soon."

I shot up, looking at Draco with sadness. "What?"

"I'm going to have to leave Hogwarts. Something bad is going to happen soon. It's going to happen inside the castle. You need to stay in the Gryffindor Tower when the time comes, okay?"

I nodded. "Okay."

He nodded back, letting me rest on his body once again. "I'm finally with you. I can't lose you again."

"You won't," I assured him. "You'll always have my heart, Draco Malfoy."

"And you'll always have me by your side, Max Potter, no matter what happens or how far apart we are. Never forget that."

I smiled to myself. "I could never forget you."

For once in my life since Cedric died, I finally found someone who made me truly happy. Even though I wasn't in love with Draco, my heart was filled with bliss, pure joy, and happiness. It was something beautiful and magical. No one was going to take that feeling away from me again.

Sorry I didn't upload yesterday. This week, my writing schedule is going to be crazy, and I think this entire month is going to be crazy. But hopefully, this story will be done before August.
