Chapter 10 ~ Hopped Up on Questions and Confusion

Before I knew it, the first week was already over. I woke up early that Saturday morning in order to deal with Quidditch tryouts today. Harry, Ginny, and I had to watch everyone try out and we got to pick who was on the Gryffindor team. Everyone was counting on Gryffindor to beat Slytherin again. Of course, we were going to beat them. Harry was our Seeker, while Ginny and I were two of the Chasers.

I went over to Ginny's dorm, where she was still in bed, and pushed her off her bed, where she landed on the floor. "Get up, Weasley!"

"Shut up, Potter!" she retorted jokingly.

We laughed as I walked into the bathroom. I got dressed and also brushed my teeth and hair, putting my hair into a high ponytail. When I went down to the Gryffindor Common Room, everyone that was trying out for the team was already heading out to the pitch to meet us. But how could they meet us if Harry and Ginny weren't even ready yet? I knew it. Why did I have a feeling they were going to be late getting up?

"Come on, Harry! Your sister is already downstairs!" I heard Ginny yelling at my brother.

"I'm coming! Stop nagging me! That's Max's job!" Harry shouted back.

As the two approached me downstairs, I giggled to myself.

The entire walk to the pitch was somewhat awkward for the three of us. Harry had a crush on Ginny, who was completely oblivious because she was currently dating Dean. I didn't know if he was trying out for the team this year. I didn't see him in the crowd that left. However, I did see Ron. He was trying out as a Keeper. Hermione was supposed to be watching the tryouts. I didn't see her in bed when I woke up. She was probably already down at the pitch.

When we got there, the three of us gripped our brooms tight and headed out to the pitch with everyone trying out. Ron was the only one standing around and being quiet when we came up. Everyone else was talking and joking around with each other.

"Okay, everyone, quiet, please!" Harry attempted to shut everyone up.

"SHUT IT!" Ginny screamed.

Everyone went quiet after that.

Harry looked at Ginny and nodded. "Thanks. Now, just because you made the team last year, does not mean you're guaranteed a spot for this year. Is that clear?"

Everyone nodded in agreement and we organized who was going first. Ginny and I mounted on our brooms and flew up to the center of the pitch, while Harry was on the sidelines. Ron and Cormac McLaggen, who I found out was the boy from Fred and George's shop, were both going for Keeper, and they both had a thing for Hermione. I wasn't sure if I found that really cute or really gross.

Cormac McLaggen and Hermione Granger together...

No, hell no. I found it gross, really gross.

Ginny and I were on a roll with eliminating who would be the third Chaser. We decided to go with Katie Bell, the best Chaser there was, really. After that was done, we all attempted to make it into the goal with Ron and Cormac trying out for Keeper. Cormac missed one goal, but Ron missed none of them. So Ron became the Keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Thank Merlin for that.

After dinner, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and I were sitting around in the Gryffindor Common Room. Ron was sitting on the couch with Harry and Hermione sitting by both of his feet on the floor. Hermione was reading the paper and Harry was reading his Potions book while Ron was talking to us. Ginny was in a chair, reading a book and Neville was messing with his plant. I was sitting by Ginny's feet while listening to Ron talking to us about tryouts.

"Okay, I've got to admit, I thought I was going to miss that last one," Ron chuckled. "I hope Cormac's not taking it too hard. He's got a bit of a thing for you, Hermione."

Hermione looked at him in shock and sighed, going back to the paper. "He's vile," she said.

"Hey, have you ever heard of this spell? Sectumsempra?" Harry asked Hermione, showing her in the book.

"No, I haven't!" she shouted. "And if you had a shred of self-respect, you'd hand that book in!"

Ron scoffed. "Not bloody likely! Him and Max are top of the class. He's even better than you, Hermione. Slughorn thinks they're both geniuses."

Hermione huffed a sigh again and placed her paper down. She looked at Harry. "I'd like to know whose book that was. Let's have a look."

"No," Harry replied, standing up quickly.

Hermione stood up with him. "Why not?!"

"The binding is fragile," he responded fast.

"The binding is fragile?" she repeated.

"Yeah, isn't it, Max?"

"Leave me out of this, bro," I told him.

"But you two always have your noses in that book during Potions. It's like you don't even use your copy, Max."

"Ron, shut up!"

Ginny stood up as well and grabbed the book from Harry's hand. She opened the book and read the name at the top. "Who's the Half-Blood Prince?"

"Who?" Hermione asked.

"That's what it says right here," the ginger exclaimed, looking at Harry, then throwing the book back to him.

Hermione and Ginny gave each other little smiles as they watched Harry sit at a desk with his nose back in the book. I just shook my head and looked back at Ginny as she sat down in the same chair she was at before. We smiled at each other and went back to being bored again.

*******

We had practice the next morning, and I was actually ready this time. I got up earlier than usual and met the rest of the team down at the pitch. I wanted some extra time to practice by myself. After half an hour went by, I heard the rest of the team coming. I flew back to the ground and walked up to Harry and Ginny.

"I see you got some time in for practice," Harry said.

I smiled back and nodded. "Yeah. I need the extra practice so we can beat Slytherin this year."

"Definitely," Ginny added, walking past me and going out to the field with the others.

Harry and I chuckled and then followed her to the center of the pitch. We warmed up for about ten minutes and then we actually played. Ginny was doing a really good job at keeping the Quaffle away from me and Katie. Harry even had to tell her that we needed a chance with the Quaffle.

But Ginny only rolled her eyes and kept on flying. "Come and get it, ladies!"

"Ginny, watch out! There's a--"

But it was too late. She had already run into the wall and fell off her broom, landing on the ground with a thud! Even from a high level, I could still hear the ginger cry out in pain. Everyone rushed down to see if she was okay.

"Are you alright, Ginny?" Harry asked, attempting to help her up.

"Yes, I'm-- OW! Ow, ow, ow, Harry, stop! It hurts to get up," she whined.

"You need to be taken to the Hospital Wing," he said.

"I'll take her," I volunteered.

"Okay, how are you going to carry her?"

I pulled out my wand and raised my eyebrows. "Wands, Harry. We have them for a reason."

Harry nodded. "Right. Well, practice is over a little bit early, everyone. I'll let you know the next time we meet up."

As everyone left, I levitated Ginny all the way to the Hospital Wing and gently placed her on a bed. She continued to moan and groan in pain when Madam Pomfrey came in.

"What happened to her?" she inquired.

"She ran into a wall during practice. She's in a lot of pain," I replied.

"I can see that. Well, all I can do is give her some strong potions. She'll be a little loopy for a while."

"Is it alright if I come back later?"

"Of course, dear. Now run off. I'll take care of her."

"Thank you."

With that, I left the Hospital Wing and walked back to the Gryffindor Common Room, where I plopped myself onto the couch and fell asleep.

*******

It was after dinner I went to go see how Ginny was doing. Surprisingly, no one, not even Harry, wanted to go with me to see her. Even Ron, who was her brother, was too lazy to spare a few minutes just to see Ginny. That was a dick move. I was glad that Harry wasn't like that. Well, he wasn't always like that.

Madam Pomfrey let me inside when I got there. When I first saw Ginny, I wasn't sure if laughing or just looking at her in confusion was the better reaction. The girl was giggling uncontrollably and she was talking to herself. I wanted to know what Madam Pomfrey gave her.

When she saw me, she stopped laughing, and gave me a wave. "Hello, gorgeous."

"Hi, Gin." I waved back awkwardly. "I hope you know I'm not Dean."

"Dean? Ohhhhhh, Dean!" she started laughing again. "He's the one with the weird glasses, right? And he's got something on his forehead. You look a lot like him!"

"That's Harry you're talking about, and we're twins, Ginny. You know that already."

She pulled me down by my hair so that I was close to her face. "I've got a secret. But you can't tell anyone."

"Okay, what is it?" I asked, slightly chuckling

My answer was Ginny crashing her lips onto mine. She was soft and firm and held my face with her hands. After a few moments, she pulled away slowly. She gave me a goofy smile and waved bye to me. I waved back slowly and ran out of the Hospital Wing.

Ginny Weasley, my brother's crush, just kissed me while all hopped up on potions. And me? I was now hopped up on questions and confusion.
