Chapter Two
Well, at least I found out what was in that box that Thomas had. Just some posters, glitter, some weird paper things that hung from the ceiling, and glitter. Did I mention glitter? There was so much glitter, it makes me question if Thomas was really straight. Of course, I'm only joking. I know he's straight, unless you give him a bowl of Macaroni 'n Cheese. It's terrifying.
Unlike Thomas, I brought things I only need. I didn't really bother to buy decorations, I just see no point in it. But Thomas is an exception. I don't mean that Thomas is a decoration! I meant that, the decorations he gets are an exception.
I know what you're thinking, and I guess I should just tell you right here and now. I may or may not be in love with my best friend. I couldn't help it! It's just that Thomas is always the one that's there for me, he takes care of me when I'm sick, and he's just so amazingly misunderstood by practically everyone.
Everyone who knows Thomas thinks he's just another cocky rich kid, which is far from the truth. Thomas is a warm-hearted, understanding soul. He would go to the ends of the Earth for the people he cares about, and I don't know why no one else but me can see that. Maybe I'm just biased, but I don't care. Now, I know that you're probably wanting me to tell him my feelings, but that is never going to happen. No way!
If Thomas ever found out, he would most likely not be my best friend anymore. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time. But, that's a story for a different time. Anyway, I am currently making my bed when Thomas walks in.
"Hey, Jemmy! It's alright if Lafayette comes over to hang a bit, right?" He gives me a signature puppy dog look, and I know it doesn't take much for him to break me. Not in that way, though!!!!
"Yeah, it's fine. I don't mind at all if he comes over."
"Thank you! You're the best, Jemmy!"
He gave me a quick hug and ran off to his room, I guess he's going to finish decorating and call Laf. If you want to know how Thomas and Laf know each other, I'll tell you. Over the summer, Thomas went to France for a few weeks. While he was there, he met Lafayette, and they sort of hit it off. They both were ecstatic when they found out they were in the same college.
I'm glad Thomas has another friend, especially one such as Lafayette. They get along together perfectly. But, before you say anything, no. I am certainly not jealous of their friendship, whatsoever! No matter how good they get along, I am just happy for both of them. I am totally not crying on the inside because I know I have no chance. Moving along!
As I finished putting stuff away, I hear the door slam open. Man, he was almost as fast as Daveed Diggs! Suddenly, I hear the obnoxious yelling of a frenchman. I swear, Lafayette is exactly what Thomas would be like if he was french. Except, Lafayette doesn't try to pick fights.
"Mon ami! It is I, the one and only baguette!" Soon as I heard that, I stifle a laugh while Thomas comes out of his room.
"Laf!"
"Thomas!"
"Laf!"
"Thomas!"
"Laf!"
"Thomas!"
"La-!"
"And James! Now, would you please stop? That's getting annoying!" I cut in, very irritated. Thomas puts on a pouty face along with Lafayette. I swear, they could literally be twins.
"I'm sorry, Jemmy. I didn't mean to make you upset, I'll try not to do that anymore." Do you see what I mean?! How can you not think that's cute?! Do you even know how hard it is for me right now to look at him and pretend that my face isn't on fire?
"I-it's fine, Thomas. College nerves are getting to me, t-that's all." I scratch the back of my head, and chuckle nervously. He smiles at me and gives me a side hug.
"Hey, you'll be fine. As you said, it might just be like high school. So, you're gonna be okay!" At the corner of my eye, I swear I saw Lafayette squeal. What the hell? What's he squealing at?
"Alright, Lafayette and I are gonna go out for some coffee. Would you like to join us?" Oh great, a chance to be a third wheel. Sounds fun.
"Sure, I can go." What am I doing? Any chance to hang out with Thomas, I guess.
Then, we set off to find the nearest Starbucks.
