Chapter One

So, here we are. Freshman year of college! I'm actually kinda nervous, but it helps to know that Thomas will be there. Both Thomas and I chose the same college because we both wanted to be lawyers and we are practically inseparable. It just so happens that two other people I know go here as well. Alexander Hamilton and John Laurens.

Now, Thomas hates Hamilton with a burning passion. Personally, I just think he talks too much. We don't really acknowledge Laurens, all we know is that he is very close to Hamilton and practically loathes Charles Lee. I think Thomas hates Hamilton because they are very alike. They both are very expressive of their opinions, they are both very intelligent, and they are also prideful.

Currently, Thomas and I are walking through the halls looking for our dorm. Turns out that we are roommates, and our dorm number is 1789. Thomas was pretty excited when he found out that we would be sharing a dorm. Honestly, I was sort of expecting it. I mean, come on! Wouldn't you if you had a friend that you've known since childhood? So, yeah that's what's happening right now.

"Jemmy!"

"Huh?" I looked over at Thomas.

"Jeez, I've been tryin' to get your attention for the past five minutes! What's got your head in the clouds?" Thomas stared at me with curiosity in his eyes.

"Oh um, nothing, it's nothing at all." I turned away.

"Didn't seem like nothing to me, but ok! Whatever you say." He rolled his eyes as we continued walking through the halls.

"I still can't believe that we're actually roommates! I am so glad I got you, instead of having to share a dorm with someone like Hamilton." He shuddered at the thought of sharing a dorm with Hamilton.

"Yeah, I'm glad too." I smiled a bit at Thomas. In return, he gave me one of his signature grins.

"Do you think college is gonna be like high school?" Thomas looked up at the ceiling in deep thought as I read the numbers on the dorms as we walked past them.

"It might be. But if it is, it'll just be with a lot more studying." 1781, 1783, 1785....

"Yeah, I think you're right. Then again, you're right most of the time." He shrugged just as we got to the dorm. I scoffed at Thomas as I got the dorm key from my pocket and unlocked the door.

"Here we go." I walked in after Thomas and we set our stuff down.

"Now, time to make this place...fabulous!" I watch Thomas say as he opens one of his boxes containing who knows what.

Yeah, this is going to be great.
