Tigress;; RainWing OC

BASIC DETAILS;;
------ Name: Tigress

Sounds a bit aggressive for a RainWing, but tigers can occur in jungly areas, so I suppose it would be possible.

------ Age: Eight or nine, probably the latter
It can never hurt to make your character older.

------ Gender: Female #whoops but as hard as I try I can't see her as a male version with a different name)
Don't worry - there's nothing wrong with female OCs. Sure, there's way more girls than guys, but that doesn't mean it's a huge sin to have one!

------ Sexuality: Questioning, likely bisexual/gray-aro
I like it.

------ Tribe: RainWing
Alrighty.

------ Abilities: She was born without a ruff and lots of tiny scales instead of the typical pattern due to being a premature hatchling, so it's quite easy for her to change her scales into a perfect imitation of any tribe that vaguely resembles a RainWing's body shape.
I don't see that many premature hatchings - this is nice!

She has venom, but prefers to inject it via bite as opposed to shooting it.
Interesting. I like that you added her preference in.

------ Relationship: A series of one-night stands.
Honest and interesting. That's pretty cool.

------ Occupation: At the time her main story takes place, she's assuming the role of a SkyWing soldier. (This will be explained)
I'm intrigued.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION;;
------ Appearance: Due to trying to perfectly imitate a SkyWing's appearance, Tigress's scales are fixed in shades of red-orange with a row of scales meticulously changed to fit a SkyWing's dorsal scales running down her back in dark red. Her wings and underbelly are tangerine orange, and her horns and spines are a bit darker than her false back scales.

That must've taken a lot of time to create.

------ Eye Color: Amber.
I don't know if that's possible in RainWings, but it's so minor that I won't worry.

------ Build: Muscular and slender, much like you'd expect from a RainWing.
Not sure about the "muscular" - RainWings strike me personally as slim but unfit - but if she's posing as a SkyWing soldier, it makes sense that she would get a bit of muscle.

A bit tall for her age, but otherwise normal. Tigress's tail is usually held straight like a SkyWing's instead of being curled around itself.
Was it hard for her to break that habit?

------ Notable details: Small scars are scattered across her body, mostly from scrapes in battle than anything else.
This makes sense, since RainWing hide is pretty fragile compared to the other tribes' armoured scales.

--

PERSONALITY;
------ Strengths: Determined and meticulous (when left to plan for a while). She's not one to make mistakes often; but is capable of making snap decisions and taking calculated risks.

Hmm, she clearly isn't an ordinary RainWing.

------ Flaws: Can be somewhat greedy/a glory-seeker and is more than a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. More than okay than gaining something at somebody else's expense.
These are good.

BACKSTORY;;
------ Pre-Hatching: Much like Tigress, her mother Astatine had many one-night stands, preferring not to settle down with anyone out of sheer defiance and a wish for independence.

Isn't that what most RainWings do? Also, Astatine is a pretty name, although I've never seen a RainWing named after the elements before.

Astatine traveled all over the continent, not wanting to be near the stereotypically lazy and dull RainWings.
Ah, not what most RainWings do.

This, of course, was before the war. One of her most memorable stops was in the SkyWing kingdom. She had a short affair, more like a one-night stand, with a SkyWing, and then met Halogen, who was soon to become Tigress's father.
Is it a coincidence that the element astatine is a halogen? I think not.

He was another roaming RainWing, a man after her own heart, and despite herself she soon fell for him.
Ah, two wanderers found each other? That's lucky. Not impossible, but lucky.

It was the night after she informed him of her egg that disaster struck and the SkyWings fell to war. Reluctant to return to their slow-paced, boring homeland, the two fled anyways out of fear that their dragonet would be endangered. Astatine had her egg in the RainWing kingdom.
Oh, that's unfortunate. Has Astatine had any eggs by other dragons? Did she and Halogen want to raise this egg, given their rambling pasts?

------ Dragonethood: It was obvious from a very early age that Tigress wasn't exactly the typical lazy RainWing. Her fiery and often rude personality was off-putting to the RainWings, so instead of being raised by the entire tribe, she was taken under her parents' wings.
I'm impressed that her parents actually stayed to raise her.

The rainforest was exceedingly boring to her, and her parents made sure she learned a lot about the other tribes.
Why was the rainforest boring to her? Did she inherit that restless quality from her parents? Or was it something they imposed on her? (Is it her natural personality, or did she pick it up from mum and dad?).

Her favorite was, coincidentally, the SkyWings, and as she grew older she began hearing about a famous SkyWing warrior whose real identity wasn't known but was known by everyone else on the battlefield as Wildfire. It was rumored she could cut through legions of enemy warriors, and it was no secret that Tigress admired her greatly. Soon, fed up with the slow-paced life of her tribe and feeling out of place in the rainforest, she got an idea: what if she became a SkyWing warrior and earned Wildfire's fame and glory? It was an idea she much entertained, and soon she set about making herself into the perfect SkyWing. She fixed her scales in reds and oranges and trained every night, until, one day, she ran away.
How did she train by herself? Last I checked, learning combat requires a teacher.

------ Adolescence: Soon after arriving in the kingdom of the SkyWings, she set about assimilating herself into their daily life. Claiming inability to breathe fire and a lack of powerful wings due to a premature hatching — an idea she got from her birth — she trained, and trained hard.
That must've been difficult for her. Did she ever make mistakes settling in?

She wasn't the best flier, and there was no way she could have been: after all, she was a RainWing among SkyWings. Growing up in the rainforest may have taught her extreme flexibility, but not flight.
Good. You acknowledged a flaw. Well done.

However, she was determined to rise to the top, and if it wasn't in flying, it was in fighting. She was larger than most SkyWings her age, and once she'd trained for years and built up muscle, she could beat them in a fight — though it wasn't entirely easy.
Remember, SkyWings are pretty big dragons. Much bigger than RainWings. She'd more likely be bigger than SkyWings half her age, so she'd have to lie.

This combined with her determination and ability to quickly learn fighting strategies brought her ever closer to the top... even if it was a slow climb. Through it all, miraculously, no one found out about her heritage.
That is miraculous.

When she was finally old enough to join the army, her first battle was against a SeaWing army. It was an easy fight, as SeaWings honestly aren't the strongest in terms of natural ability...
"SeaWings aren't the strongest" my foot. They have hooked claws, hard scales (have you seen those neck plates?) and flashing stripes that can be very effective distractions at times. Their low stance means that ducking, diving and clawing comes naturally to them, and years of constant swimming means that they're incredibly muscular. Plus their tails can create huge waves, meaning that a hard thwack would easily stun an unsuspecting foe. They could also drown their opponents easily. They're like crocodiles on steroids, with more flexibility, agility and intelligence. And more limbs. Hmm, definitely not the strongest in terms of natural ability.

... but she quickly realized war wasn't as glorious as she'd made it out to be. Nonetheless, she'd trained her whole life to get here, and she had nowhere else to go.
Good good good. Disappointment can never hurt, and it's very realistic for her.

She was soon on her way to becoming just as well-known as Wildfire when tragedy struck.
Just like that? Where's the detail? Give us her journey from "nobody" to "well-known". What were her major battles? Did she make any friends in combat? Was she ever discovered? Where there any slip-ups where she was nearly discovered?

The SandWings' stingers were something she was vastly unprepared for, and a single misstep cost her her left back leg. In hindsight, she was lucky it wasn't her heart, but the end result was the same: even after amputating her leg, she was told the venom didn't give her very long to live. Struggling to cope with her impending and inevitable death, she spent the rest of her days isolated in a cave, waiting to die. There was no way for her to fight anymore, and she didn't want to flee to the rainforest as she didn't want her parents' pity.
I love this ending, although bear in mind that there is a readily available cure in the desert. Of course, the SkyWings won't know that in the war, and they definitely wouldn't waste a trip to the desert on a regular soldier, but a supposedly famous soldier? Why not?

(I'm still deciding if she finds a cure or not.)
Hmm, you could take it either way. If she survives, you'll be up for some interesting development, but sometimes it's better to do away with a character.

COMMENTS;;
------ The good...
Tigress is a very interesting character, and I like what you've done with her. Her personality is balanced, and her physical description fits in well. I really like the quirks you've added from her premature hatching, and how you incorporated it into her character. Considering her upbringing, she isn't impossible. She's a lot better than some of the other strong female warrior OCs I've seen, too.

------ The bad...
Her past brings about some inconsistencies. Why did her parents raise her? If they're both relatively carefree spirits, surely they'd be reluctant to stay tied down with a dragonet.
You mentioned she grows up "fiery and rude" - that doesn't seem like your typical RainWing characteristic. What made her like this?
Then you mention she finds the rainforest boring. If she grew up here... well, do you find your home country boring? Most RainWings are satisfied with the rainforest, and for good reason - there's ample food, few predators and sunlight for miles around. It's their perfect environment. The "restless female warrior tired of her home" trope is a bit overused.
You insulted SeaWings, which I can never forgive you for (kidding. But don't underestimate those gilly children).
Then there's the issue of her age. I'm one to talk, but doesn't she seem a bit... well, young to be a famous warrior? I thought it'd take more time - first for her to learn combat, second for her to stand out (most likely she'd start out as just another soldier in the barracks), third for her to fight in enough battles that this became known throughout the tribe.
Also, her integration into the tribe felt a bit rushed, at least to me. Remember, although a RainWing can trick dragons with their appearance, it's harder to maintain the act for a long enough time. She'd be smaller than the SkyWings, have softer scales, need more sleep (have we got onto sleep? RainWing scales change colour when they sleep), and have fewer natural weapons... thus making her a very unlikely candidate for battle.

------ How you can improve!
Half of these problems can actually solve themselves, if you handle them right. You said her parents are naturally restless spirits, but that they raised her in the rainforest. You then went on to tell us she's fiery, rude, and finds the rainforest boring. Those aren't normal qualities of a RainWing. So consider: raising a dragonet couldn't have been easy for a pair of parents not used to that lifestyle. Maybe her more disagreeable character came from them - be that bad parenting or simple inheritance.
Definitely detail her life in the Sky Kingdom. It should have taken a long time for her to settle in as a soldier - and then even longer to rise to the top. I would consider making her older - as in, 20 years older- and having that integration take more time. It makes the story seem more real.

OVERALL RATING;; 6.5/10.
Definitely one of the better female warrior OCs I've seen. Good job!

If one more person asks me to please do their OC next/hurry up with their character/any other variant of that, I'm going to throw a brick.
