Consumed
BOOMING metal settles
in echoed waves
of concrete
HITTING steel
and aluminum
A jungle jumbled
and yet carved
to precision by
busy little men
we RAZED
these places
that nature grew
and raised
our own
on the gentle back
of the quiet earth
And yet
the asphalt CRACKS...
The concrete
wears down
The metal shall rust
and submit
and what we build
decays
Hear the oceans BOOM
and swallow all we thought
would harm them
Lava HITS the ground
running down man's creation
beneath the mountains
Like a RAZOR nature shaves
all that tries to tame her
beneath her sky
Through one CRACK in man's plan
The earth grows back undaunted
just below our so-called progress
Storms and floods erase
Gardens grow instead
around the past
We may think we consume the earth
But the earth devours all
as the moon watches
Just ask the graveyards buried
in the belly beneath your feet
Did they ever think
the world would forget them?
and yet it has
