Not because you are like me-

frankly we are different-

and that is okay.

I want you to see the heart

that beats inside my chest

has the same rhythm as you

I want you to see my eyes

my glasses do not mean

I am blind to your suffering

I want you to see my hands

not calloused as yours

but will gladly extend it, if you need it

I want you to see my arms

they are weak and feminine

but can give a strong embrace

I want you to see my lips

they smile when you are happy

frown when you cry and shout when you are silenced

I want you to see my feet

though encased in shiny boots

they'll stay planted firmly if you can't stand

I want you to see my skin

it is not black, or white, or yellow

but thick enough to handle the slurs and insults

I want you to see my minds eye

my thoughts are simple

to just wanting true peace and love for you
