As I Lay Awake

As I lay awake,

The rest of the world sleeps,

Resting peacefully on fluffy pillows,

Dreaming of deep things.

But when the world does wake,

It is then that I sleep,

Caught in places where I find comfort,

Dreaming of sweet sorrows.

Light through my window wakes me,

Sunlight streaming through thin blinds.

It used to bother me, but now no more,

The sun is welcome here.

When darkness finds me, I can see,

For the moon shall light the night,

And stars shall guide my explorations

Like sailors and travellers of old.

As I lay awake,
