"Hunter, make sure Tech doesn't run into anything or anyone, please." You said to him.

"Yes, ma'am." He said and went to Tech.

"And wait for me at my room!"

"You got it!"

You sighed and thought that he really needs to take a break from that datapad of his. You turned to your right to see Wrecker and Crosshair fighting.

"Hey, knock it off, you two." You scolded as you approached them.

"He started it!" Crosshair snarked.

"Yeah, only because you said something mean about (Y/n)!" Wrecker exclaimed.

You suddenly became startled at his statement. He looked like he was about to cry until he hugged you for comfort. You hugged back and soothed him as you turned your attention to Crosshair.

"Be nice to your brother, Crosshair." You said sternly.

"But-" He started.

"No buts, if you know it offends Wrecker, don't say it."

He thought for a moment before sighing and opening his mouth.

"Fine, I'll be nice." He spoke.

"That's better. Now apologize." You said more calmly.

"Wrecker,"

He turned to look at him, a little less upset.

"I'm sorry for what I said, and I'll try to be nicer." Crosshair finished saying.

After saying that, Wrecker proceeded to rush over to him and give him a tight hug. Crosshair groaned at the sudden action and regrettably hugged him back. You smiled upon seeing the sight and laughed a little since you knew Crosshair absolutely hated hugs.

"Alright, you two, let's catch up to Hunter and Tech so they don't get lost. You guys hungry?" You asked.

"Yeah!" Wrecker exclaimed at the mention of food.

He let go of his brother and ran over to you, motioning to get picked up. You smiled at his childness and picked him up. You started to walk only to realize that Crosshair wasn't following you. You stopped and turned around to see him staring at you with his arms crossed. You held out a hand as you waited for him to respond.

"C'mon, I don't bite." You said sincerely.

Not looking away, he slowly walked towards you and grabbed ahold of your hand. You smiled again at this and started to walk with him closely behind. You went in the direction of your personal room to see if Hunter and Tech were there waiting like you told them to. You turned the corner and saw that the two were, in fact, waiting for you. You sighed in relief when you saw them and walked over to them with Wrecker and Crosshair.

"Hey, Miss (Y/n). I managed to keep Tech from running into anything." Hunter said as he noticed you.

"Thank you, Hunter." You said.

"You're welcome."

"Wrecker is hungry, so we're going to the mess hall."

With that, the four cadets followed you towards the mess hall.

<Later>

It was now nighttime, and you were currently tucking in Wrecker. You stood up to walk away but he grabbed your hand.

"Can you tell me a story?" He asked as you turned to him.

"Of course." You said after laughing a little.

You sat back down next to him and started to tell him a story. For some parts of your story, you would sometimes use his Lula doll for actions. And when you would imitate voices, he would laugh at them and you thought it was adorable.

"(Y/n)?" Wrecker interrupted.

"Yeah?" You said.

"I made something for you."

He sat up and took something out from under his pillow. He placed in your hand and you saw that it was a pendant with a miniature Lula sketch on it.

"Wrecker, this is amazing, thank you!" You exclaimed quietly.

You placed it around your neck and gave him a hug.

"Let's continue the story, yeah?" You said.

"Okay!" Wrecker exclaimed.

Then you continued where you left off. You were halfway with an epic battle when you noticed that Wrecker had fallen asleep. You smiled at this and placed his Lula doll next to him as you stood up. You leaned down and gave him a small kiss on his forehead.

"Goodnight, ad'ika." You whispered.

You turned and started to walk away back to your personal room. Just before you turned the corner, you ran into your boss.

"Oh, hello, sir. I'm turning in for the night." You told him.

"Actually, I need to tell you something important." He said.

"Sure, go ahead."

"Trust me when I say it's not my decision."

"Okay, I trust you."

"You're being transferred back to Coruscant."

That sentence made your heart drop. You were saddened at the fact that you might not see these kids ever again.

"When do I leave?" You asked sadly.

"Tomorrow at noon." Your boss answered.

"Alright, thanks for letting me know, goodnight, sir."

He nodded in acknowledgement and continued his way as you entered your room. As soon as the door closed, a few tears fell and you hugged yourself as you sat on your bed. You hated that you would be leaving the young cadets, they were like your own children to you. You cared for them when no one else would. You loved them like your own, but that's going to be over tomorrow. Calming yourself, you stood up and grabbed a box that was underneath your bed. You didn't have much with you, so you were able to finish packing quicker. You placed the now full box at the end of the bed and slipped under the covers. You didn't bother changing since all the outfits you were given were the same. A few more tears slipped from your eyes before you let them close and fell asleep.

<The next day>

"No, you can't leave!" Wrecker cried as he hugged you.

"If it was my decision, I'd stay with you all." You said and hugged back.

He began to cry and you did your best to reassure him. Hunter approached you two and started to speak.

"We're gonna miss you, (Y/n)." He said, on the brink of tears.

"I know, c'mere." You said and pulled him into the hug.

Immediately, he hugged you almost sobbing. Tech soon walked over and joined the group hug, also not wanting you to leave. After a good minute, they all pulled back and Wrecker sniffled before wiping his eyes. You noticed Crosshair wasn't with them and you looked to your right to see him turned away with his arms crossed. As if he felt you staring, he turned slightly to see you in the corner of his eye. You smiled and opened your arms for him. He only stood there as you waited for him.

"It's okay, buddy. I'll always remember you." You said to get his attention.

Surprisingly, it worked and he rushed over to you, stopping when your arms were around him. You hugged him like you were dropping him off for his first day of school. Before he pulled back, you could've sworn you felt a singular tear. You looked at him and he stared back for a moment before turning away slightly. You laughed a little and stood up, as it was almost time for you to go.

"Alright, I gotta go. I'll miss you, you rascals." You said, trying not to sound sad and ruffled Hunter's hair.

"I'm gonna miss you!" Wrecker exclaimed.

"I will, too!" Hunter agreed.

"I am going to miss you as well." Tech said.

Your heart warmed at the words they said before looking at Crosshair. He looked up and gave you a look saying, 'I'll miss you, too'. You smiled and turned around, walking towards the ship you were being transferred on. Before stepping on, however, you looked back and waved at them. They all waved and you walked on the ship. The ramp was lifted and the door closed as you sighed. Even though it was moments ago, you missed them a lot. You sat on a nearby supply crate near your stuff. You rested your head in your hands and began to think about what the future holds.

<One year later>

You finished tending to the injured soldier laying in the medical bed in front of you. You were thankful he was the last one you'd be attending. You took off the gloves and tossed them away before sitting on a nearby stool. You rubbed your temples as one of your colleagues approached you.

"Hey, uh, (Y/n)?" They spoke.

"No, I'm done for today." You said, trying not to sound annoyed.

"The boss wants to see you."

You looked up at them skeptically. They shifted uncomfortably at your gaze before you stood up.

"What for?" You inquired.

"Dunno, says it's important." They answered.

"Alright, thanks."

Before they could say anything, you walked towards your boss' office. You stopped at the door and knocked on it softly. You heard a faint 'come in' and walked through the door.

"You wanted to see me, sir?" You spoke, getting his attention.

"Yes, please take a seat." He said and looked up.

You took a seat as he crossed his arms on his desk.

"You're being transferred to Kamino because they're short on medics." He explained.

Your ears perked up at the info of you going back to Kamino. You hoped you could see your favorite cadets, though they might be grown by now.

"I understand, sir." You said, heart racing.

"You will be leaving shortly, so I highly suggest that you get ready." He said.

"Yes, sir."

You stood up and nodded your head curtly before walking out of the room. You head towards your small room to get ready to leave. You thought back to the possibility of seeing the cadets you took care of. You gently grasped the pendant you wore. You never took it off when Wrecker gave it to you.

'Will they even recognize me?' You thought.

You sighed and brushed the thought away. They're probably not on the planet anymore. You arrived at your room and grabbed the same box from last time to pack your things. Once again, you didn't have much things and you picked up the box. You left the room and down the corridor to the landing bay. Once you stepped in, a pilot recognized you and stepped towards you.

"Are you Dr. (L/n)?" He asked.

"Yes, that's me." You said.

"Your flight to Kamino is waiting for you, follow me."

He then turned around and walked to a small shuttle with you in tow. He boarded the ship and you followed his actions. He went to the cockpit as you stayed in the back, sitting in one of the seats provided. The pilot started the ship and you took deep breaths. You were ready for what's to come.

<Later on Kamino>

You stepped off the ship and inhaled the smell of seawater. You opened your eyes and made your way to the door in front of you. You walked through it and saw various troopers and Kaminoans strolling about. You smiled at the nostalgia as you made your way down the hall. You were told that you'd be getting your old room back. You knew the place very well and knew exactly where to go. You turned a corner then arrived at the door of the room you'd be staying in. You typed in the code and the door opened then you walked in. You looked around to see that it was clean and untouched. But you did notice a datapad on your bed, however. Curious, you set the box down and picked up the device. You turned it on and immediately showed a file. You skimmed it and caught a few pieces about you actually being assigned to a squad.

'Clone Force 99, huh? Interesting.' You thought.

You decided you would unpack later and meet the team you were going to be apart of. You stepped out of the room and started walking left, looking down at the pad once in awhile. Soon enough, you arrived at the door of their room. You took a deep breath before knocking. It took a moment but a trooper wearing dark grey armor with a red bandana and half a skull tattoo on his face answered the door.

"Hello, I'm Dr. (L/n), I've been assigned to your teams medic." You said warmly.

He slightly stiffened upon hearing your name but you didn't notice.

"Of course, come in, I'll introduce you to the team." He said and stepped aside.

You gave a smile and stepped inside the room. There were three other troopers in the room, one doing his own thing while the other two were messing around. A hand was placed on your shoulder and you turned to see the same trooper from before.

"I'm Hunter, and that one," he pointed to the one with goggles. "is Tech, the brains of the group."

Your eyes widened slightly at the familiarity of their names.

'Could they be... no, they couldn't be.' You thought.

Hunter pointed at the other two "And those two are Wrecker and Crosshair."

'Maker, it is them.' You thought.

You took a deep breath and spoke to Hunter.

"I used to be a caretaker before I became a medic." You said and smiled.

"Why did you switch jobs?" He asked.

"The previous group of cadets I watched over were my favorite, and I wasn't myself for a bit after I left."

"I bet they were great cadets."

"Yeah, and they still are. One of them would always have a datapad with him wherever he went."

Hunter looked at you with a hopeful look, which you didn't see. You looked at the two that were messing around and smiled.

"Now that I think about, I remember us having a caretaker." Hunter said, catching your attention.

"What were they like?" You asked.

"She was very kind to us, including Crosshair. We sometimes tease him about it nowadays and he's constantly bothered by it."

You laughed a little before he continued.

"But the day she left, however, he never said anything for a few weeks, not even his usual snarky remarks."

Your expression quickly changed to a sad one, feeling guilty for leaving.

"What about you? How did you and the others feel?" You asked, hiding the sadness.

"Wrecker, well, let's just say that he didn't like the idea of another caretaker. As for Tech, he barely even used his datapad for a while. And for me," He sighed and continued, "for me, I missed her so much that I wouldn't sleep for days on end, but I managed to stay strong for her."

You let your sad expression take over your features as you placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Hunter." You gave a small smile. "I always knew you would be a great leader."

The moment those words left your lips, Hunter looked at you with a surprised look. He quickly connected the pieces in his brain and almost cried.

"(Y-Y/n)?" He stuttered but you heard it.

You smiled and held open your arms as you nodded your head. Hunter quickly gave in and hugged you as a few tears slipped from his eyes.

"I-I thought w-we lost you." He muttered.

"Shh, it's okay, I'm here." You soothed as you combed through his hair.

You continued to soothe him as you caught the attention of one other.

"Uh, Sarge, who is this?" You heard someone ask, confused.

You looked up to see Wrecker staring at you curiously. You gave him a smile and spoke.

"Hi, my name is Dr. (L/n), but you can call me (Y/n)." You spoke softly.

He widened his eyes at the familiarity of your name, and this caught the attention of the other two. Hunter wouldn't let go of you as you looked at the others, they looked like they were about to cry.

"(Y/n), is that really you?" Wrecker asked.

"It's me, and it's great seeing you again." You spoke softly as a tear fell.

Wrecker immediately hugged you from behind and you did your best to soothe him as well. A few minutes passed, and the two hugging you had the courage to pull back. Hunter still held your hand, however, as if you were going to disappear. You then turned to see Tech looking at you and not at his datapad.

"Hey, Tech. I was told you never used your pad for a while after I left." You said, slightly laughing.

"Yes, well, we missed you a lot." Tech said.

You heard a scoff from the other side of the room and looked seeing it was Crosshair.

"Tch, how do we even know it's her?"

"I see you kept your snarky attitude, Cross." You said and smiled.

"Stop acting like you know who we are. If you did, you'd know the exact words I was told when you left."

He looked away as he crossed his arms and you stood up, carefully removing your Hunters hand from yours. You walked about halfway before opening your arms and giving a smile.

"It's okay, buddy. I'll always remember you." You said, hoping he heard you.

Then suddenly, he came up to you and hugged you for dear life. You wrapped your arms around him as you felt him clutch your shirt tightly.

"It really is you." You heard him mutter.

Then he pulled back and brought up a hand, caressing your cheek.

"You're just as beautiful as the day I lost you." He whispered.

"Correction, the day we lost her." You heard Hunter say.

"Yeah, you weren't the only one who missed her!" Wrecker exclaimed.

You laughed a little as Crosshair turned away, embarrassed.

"All this talk is making me hungry, how about you guys?" You asked.

"That's a great idea, we can fill you in on what you missed!" Wrecker exclaimed happily.

You saw them head for the door but noticed Crosshair wasn't with them so you turned around. He was staring at you, but not in a rude way. You smiled once more and held out a hand for him to take.

"C'mon, I don't bite." You said.

In an instant, he came over an grabbed ahold of your hand. Before walking out with him, you could've sworn you saw the ghost of a smile on his face. You two caught up with the others and headed towards the mess hall. There was a comfortable and relieved silence, as if they were happy to see you okay and well. Soon, you arrived at the mess hall and walked in as Crosshair let go of your hand to not draw attention to himself. They walked towards the line with you as the last one. You watched them as they sat at an empty table and started talking to each other. You smiled that they were their old selves and you grabbed a tray for your food. You picked the main meal of the day with a flavoured drink and walked over to their table. You sat next to Hunter who was next to Crosshair with Wrecker and Tech across from them.

"Alright, what should we talk about, now that I'm here." You said.

"What did you do after you left?" Wrecker asked curiously.

"Yeah, I think we're all curious about that." Hunter agreed.

"Well, I stayed as a caretaker for a few months before becoming a medic." You looked away a bit before looking back at the group.

"And that's a good thing, otherwise you wouldn't have been transferred back here."

"Yeah, I thought I was just going to be a normal medic but instead I got assigned to you guys. What're the chances?"

"I heard us being assigned a medic but never gave much thought until you showed up at our door."

You smiled as you and the others all talked about what had happened in the past year. They told you about some of the missions they went on and became nervous when they said it was dangerous. But they would reassure you that they're alive and well. You were glad that your favorite cadets are now proud soldiers of the Republic.
