Song of Inspiration: Coldplay - Fix You

You woke up to the sun peeking through the curtains of your window. You went to get up but couldn't when you felt a pair of arms around your waist. You managed to turn yourself around to see Fives sleeping soundly next to you. You smiled tiredly at your asleep boyfriend. You that he was so cute when he was asleep, although he hated being called cute. You gently set your hands on his face and peppered his face with butterfly kisses. He loved it when you woke him up like that. Just as you stopped, his eyes flickered open and smiled at the sight of you.

"Hey." He said groggily.

"Hey." You said, voice barely above a whisper.

"We should call in sick today."

"Why?"

"I wanna stay here and cuddle with you."

He nuzzled his face in the crook of your neck as you laughed lightly. He would always try to convince to you to call in sick but failed everytime. You loved him but you knew he would be in for it if Rex found out what he's been doing while 'sick'.

"I don't want you to get in trouble." You said.

"You're not going to get me in trouble, cyar'ika." He said.

"Kix is going to give you a lecture if you don't go in today."

"Ugh, fine. Only because I don't want another lecture from Kix."

He unlatched his arms from around your waist and sat up. You missed his embrace immediately but blushed upon seeing him in his blacks. He always somehow had that charm to make you blush when he has no armor on.

"Like what you see?" He asked with a smirk.

"Shut up." You said, sitting up.

He laughed a little and stood up to put on his armor. He was half dressed when you stood up and went to the refresher. You splashed some cold water on your face as an attempt to wake yourself. Surprisingly, it worked and walked out to get ready for work. Fives was nowhere to be seen in the room but you knew he was waiting for you. You grabbed your medic uniform and slipped it on then buttoned it up.

You sighed softly as you stopped thinking of old memories, not wanting to get hurt. You took a sip of water from the glass in your hand. You set the glass down and held your head with your hands, a few tears gliding down your cheeks.

'Why did it have to be you?' You thought sadly.

It all happened so fast and you hated it. First Echo, then Hardcase, and now Fives. To others, they're just clones, they're made for war. But to you, they're human, they're flesh and blood, and they have feelings, just like you. You cried more as a quiet sob escaped your throat. They didn't deserve this, they deserved better. Not wanting to cause a scene, you stood up from the table and tossed a few credits next to your glass. You walked out of 79s and down the street to your apartment. Not wanting to disturb the complex, you took a short cut and used the ladders next to the building. You opened the window and went through it, thankful you left it unlocked. You stumbled down the dark hallway into your bedroom. You don't know how, but you were so tired that you didn't bother changing. You slipped off your shoes and plopped yourself onto the bed that held so many memories. You grabbed the pillow from the empty spot next to you and hugged it for comfort. A few more tears fell before your eyes closed and you entered a torturous slumber.

You finished applying a bacta patch to a trooper that was injured. Much to your relief, isn't wasn't too bad as it was only a blaster shot.

"Just don't move around too much, okay?"

"Thanks." He mumbled before falling asleep.

You smiled lightly and turned away to help another soldier. Just as you turned around, Fives burst through the door breathing heavily. You became startled and almost jumped at the sudden action.

"Dammit, Fives, you could've given me a heart attack!" You said sternly.

"Heh, sorry, I just wanted to see you." He said sheepishly.

You walked towards the back as he quickly followed you. After making sure no one was around, Fives immediately pulled you in for a sweet kiss. You melted into it and wrapped your arms around his neck. A long minute passed and you both pulled away for some needed air.

"Looks like someone missed me." You said and smiled.

"Oh, I'm not the only one." He said.

"You know, for a complete jokester, you're pretty serious about this relationship."

"Well, when I saw you, I had to make sure that I got you before any of my brothers did."

You laughed lightly and stared into his eyes lovingly. He did the same back as he leaned his forehead against yours, smiling.

Fives stood afar, watching your sleeping form. He casted his gaze downward and blamed himself for doing this to you. He couldn't bear to see you this upset. He didn't want this to happen. He wanted to make you happy, he wanted to make you smile.

'I can't do that if I'm gone.' He thought, sad as well.

All those memories you two shared, all the little moments you two enjoyed, all of it only for it to become endless pain for you both. Fives looked in the corner of your bedroom to see his armor put on an armor stand. He smiled faintly before walking over to you. He finally had the courage to look at you and saw the tear stains on the face he never wanted to see upset. Seeing you asleep on his side of the bed hugging his pillow sure as hell made him to want to cry. He leaned down on one knee and gently brushed a stray strand of hair out of your face.

"Oh, cyar'ika, I hate seeing you upset like this and I will try to fix you." He said softly.

You jolted awake and frantically looked around the room for the faint voice of Fives. You saw nothing but emptiness and pulled your knees up to your chest, hugging them. You glanced at the clock next to your bed to see that is was 2:38am. You had work in a few hours, so you laid back down and tried to get some sleep.

You woke up from your short slumber and looked at the clock seeing 6:47am displayed. With the little energy you had, you got out of bed to get ready for work. You ever so slowly got dressed, not caring if you were late. You felt eyes on you while getting ready and turned around to see no one there. You couldn't see him but you can feel him there.

"Fives, can you give me a sign that you're here?" You asked to no one in particular.

The room was silent for a minute and you sighed, continuing to get ready for work. Just as you finished getting dressed, the radio on your clock turned on. You quickly looked at it to see the dial turning, it was as if it was searching for a specific station. The dial finally stopped and a song played softly.

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

You knew that it was him sending you a message. You smiled for the first time in years and shed tears of joy.

"Thank you, Fives." You whispered.

You turned and walked out of your room with a smile on your face. Fives stayed behind in your room and left the song playing. He wore the biggest smile on his face upon seeing you happy in a long time. He made sure to stay to keep you this happy. Before he went to follow you, he said one single statement that meant something to the both of you.

"Sometimes memories are the worst form of torture."
