A Rose In The Door
A Rose In The Door
\Jenni's P.O.V./
When I came to the cave today, Uriah was not outside and there was a rose laying on the ground next to the entrance.
I picked it up, careful to avoid poking myself. I glanced around, the only other being in sight the crows wandering through the treetops.
"Uriah!" I called. "Where are you?"
I smiled when I heard his voice. "Well, you'll just have to find that out, won't you?"
I grinned, carefully going through the doorway. When I reached the end of the short tunnel from the entrance, I gasped.
The previously bare walls were strung with lights, and a small square table sat in the middle of the stone room, with a black table cloth and a vase of wildflowers. there were two plates, two chairs, and two glasses. Uriah stood by one chair, offering me a seat. I smiled, sitting down. He walked around the table and sat down, smiling at me.
"This is incredible. How did you manage this?" I asked, still awestruck.
"Oh, I have my ways." There was a twinkle in his eye. "Would you care for some champagne?"
"Yes, please," I said.
He poured some of the sweet substance into two narrow champagne flutes.
"Thank you," I said.
After a delicious meal of pasta in Alfredo sauce, there was dessert. A small mason jar for each of us with a chocolate-like parfait.
As I was finishing it, I asked, "Why did you arrange this?"
"Well..." He said a bit sheepishly. "I was actually going to ask..."
The next thing I knew Uriah was beside me on one knee, holding a small black box open for me to see the ring inside.
"Jenni, will you marry me?" He asked.
For a moment I was speechless, moving my jaw up and down.
"Yes," I finally managed to squeak out.
He grinned, swooping me up and spinning around.
"I'll marry you," I whispered.
