Ch5

~Time skip: 2 weeks~

The students happily chattered as Mr. Aizawa had announced the annual regular school festival. However, three certain people couldn't act like nothing had happened. Izuku was stuck between whether he should ask Katsuki or not about what he said back in the infirmary that day. Katsuki slightly went back to his usual attitude towards Izuku due to high embarrassment. Shoto had heard bits and pieces of their conversation and didn't like how it progressed. Yet the three of them were able to put on faux smiles and pretend.

"Why not a maid cafe?" Ochako suggested.

"That's the most cliché suggestion I've ever heard." Hanta said with a sigh.

"Do you have a better idea, Hanta?" Tsuyu asked.

Hanta froze and ultimately gave up. The other students continued to discuss ideas while Izuku sat outside the perimeter.

"Hey, why aren't you in the discussion?" Shoto asked as he took a seat in front of Izuku.

"Ah, they don't need my input. I'm sure it'll be fun with whatever the choose." said Izuku happily.

"Is Bakugo bothering you again?" asked Shoto quietly.

"No... not really." Izuku said then noticed Katsuki approaching. "Kacchan..."

"Nerd. You're staying after school right?" Katsuki asked.

"Why? So you can terrorize him?" Shoto snapped.

"Pipe down extra. This is a A B conversation." Katsuki said then looked at Izuku. "Let me borrow your room key."

Shoto stood up and pushed Katsuki back. The other students turned at the sound of him colliding with a desk and chair.

"Like hell he's going to let you back in there after what you did!" Shoto said ticked off.

"Me? You're the one who ruined his posters and broke his figurine! You should be the one banned from his room!" Katsuki shouted in anger.

"You're calling me a liar? I know what I saw!" Shoto shouted back.

"Katsuki, we know you two have your differences, but you really shouldn't lie..." Ashido said quietly, pushing her index fingers together.

Katsuki screamed in frustration then left the room. Izuku quietly watched the door then glanced at everyone else.

"So, what-" Shoto started then stopped as Izuku had stood up. "What's wrong?"

Izuku left his seat and left the classroom as well. He saw Katsuki's eyes. He of all people knew him best. Katsuki wasn't lying. Izuku picked up his pace, hoping Katsuki didn't get far. Shoto peeked out from the classroom and followed. If he didn't do something, it'd wouldn't be long before he couldn't bully Katsuki anymore.

Izuku stopped in a hallway to catch his breath. He couldn't find Katsuki anywhere and their next class was going to start soon. He looked out the window in hopes of spotting him. No sign of him. He had checked everywhere in the school building.

"Kacchan... where are you..." he mumbled as he turned away from the window.

Just then Katsuki had appeared within the window's sight. Izuku turned around again and caught a glimpse of someone outside. He didn't know who but there was a good chance it was Katsuki.

He hurried down the steps and pushed a door open. He headed over to where he saw them then sighed. They could've gone anywhere. Just as he moved to leave, he heard faint sounds of sniffling. Izuku peeked around the corner and saw Katsuki sitting with his knees to his chest. Should he approach him? That would only get him yelled at. It would be the same if he called out from where he was.

Shoto creeped up behind him then grabbed him by his wrist, pulling him away. Izuku tried prying his fingers off, but that only made him hold tighter.

"Shoto, what are you doing?" Izuku asked as he pulled back.

"Class starts soon. Tenya wanted me to find you." Shoto said, hiding the fact he had followed him.

"Stop. Let me go." said Izuku with his head lowered.

"But-" Shoto said but was cut off by Izuku.

"I said let go!" Izuku said in a raised voice.

Shoto let him go then watched as he ran back over to where he was standing before disappearing around the corner. Izuku didn't give him much time to think or act as he was suddenly enveloped in a hug.

"What the-? Get off me, damn nerd!" Katsuki spat despite not disliking the action.

"Shoto's lying isn't he..." Izuku asked quietly.

Katsuki stopped struggling as his eyes widened. Izuku was taking his side. Was it a joke? Was he serious?

"Tell me you didn't do it and I'll believe you." said Izuku.

Here was his chance to make himself look good, to get back at Shoto for making him look like a fool to place the blame on the proper person.

"We're both at fault. No matter who did what, we're still wrong." Katsuki said, knowing he dug his own grave.

Izuku let him go then sat back on his heels.

"You really are amazing, Kacchan..." Izuku said with a smile. "You can be honest in weird ways." Katsuki felt him put something in his hand. He moved to look, but Izuku had gently slapped him on the hand. "Let's head to class. We're probably late."

Izuku and Katsuki were stuck with cleaning duty as they arrived to training late without good reason. Katsuki didn't mind much since it kept him away from Shoto. Izuku happily hummed as he reposition the pole.

"Think we've done enough?" Izuku asked as he looked around.

"Yeah, sure." Katsuki mumbled as he just wanted to leave.

The door opened and Shoto had stepped inside. Katsuki watched as Izuku put the cleaning supplies away then hurried over to Shoto. No matter how he looked at it, Shoto had a firm grip on Izuku. It was probably a matter of time before they started getting closer. Then he'd end up getting bullied by the person he bullied. The irony of it made him chuckle. When did things get so twisted?

When he started seeing Izuku in a different light? When Shoto suddenly started bullying him? When everyone was finally able to take it easy after all of bullshit the League of Villains put them through? He quietly put the rest of the supplies away then left. He didn't have time to dwell on things as he quickly needed to get to Izuku's room.

Shoto quietly watched Izuku from afar as he and All Might did training together. He couldn't help the bad feeling he was getting and wondered what it could be. He pushed the thoughts away as it seemed like they finished training. Izuku waved to him as he jogged over.

"You really didn't have to stay and watch." Izuku said as he gathered his things.

"I wanted to. It gave me ideas on how to utilize my quirks more." Shoto said as he walked beside Izuku.

"Makes sense. So, what are you going to do now? Homework?" Izuku asked as they neared the building.

"Hm, why don't we hang out in your room for a while?" he suggested.

"Well, I say stop by in half an hour. And if you knock twice and I don't answer, I'm asleep. Okay?" said Izuku with a smile.

"Got it." Shoto said as Izuku hurried off to his room.

He walked off to his room then looked back. He felt relief knowing Katsuki wasn't there. He entered his room and waited to go over.

Izuku dropped his bag with his mouth agape. His missing torn posters were back in their spots and no longer torn. His figurine stood proudly now that it had its head back on. Katsuki lied comfortably on his bed, unmoving.

He took a closer look at the figurine and saw where the head had broken off. The posters still had their tears spots as well. None of them were replaced but were fixed instead. He walked over to his bed then gently shook Katsuki.

"Kacchan... did you do this...?" he asked quietly.

No response. He shook him a bit harder then earned a groan from the other below him. Katsuki rolled over then freaked out at the sight of Izuku standing above him.

"I... I uh... Goodbye." Katsuki stammered before getting up.

Izuku pushed him back down on the bed. Katsuki blinked rapidly unsure of how things were going.

"Did you do this?" Izuku asked again, gesturing to his posters and figurine.

"Maybe..." he responded, not sure which straight answer was right.

Tears welled up in Izuku's eyes then he lunged forward and gave him a hug. Katsuki panicked as he wasn't sure if they were happy or sad tears. Either way, if someone came in, he'd have a lot of explaining to do.

Izuku had quieted down as Katsuki had opted to patting his back once in a while. He heard Izuku mumble a "thank you" then repositioned himself. All was quiet in the room.

"Deku." Katsuki called out. No response. "Yo, Deku."

Still no response. Katsuki lifted his head and saw Izuku had fallen asleep. Now was his chance to make a clean break. He started to move but was kept pinned down by Izuku's hold. A knock on the door came. Was he expecting someone? The situation continued to worsen for him. The person knocked again and called out this time.

Katsuki bit his tongue as his mouth was ready to fire off insults at Shoto, but he didn't want to risk him seeing them in this position. He didn't knock again. Katsuki relaxed and decided to stay put since he didn't feel like going through the trouble of prying a superhuman strengthened brat off of him. Though, his real reason was that he was quite content with how things turned out between them and didn't feel like leaving.
