Ch15

Everyone stopped talking once Izuku stepped into the classroom. He didn't understand why everyone was looking at him. He looked and saw Shoto with his face pressed to his desk and arms dangling off to both sides. He looked in the other direction and saw Katsuki with his head resting against his arms.

"What did you do to them?" Tenya whispered.

"Oh..." Izuku muttered then left the classroom.

Everyone looked at Tenya who shrugged. You could only learn so much from an "oh". Izuku planned to skip classes. He didn't think he could handle an entire day with the both of them after how he treated them the day before. Could he really afford to skip classes? He stopped walking then looked back at his classroom. He had to brave through it.

Izuku entered the classroom again and took his seat behind Katsuki. The others quietly talked amongst themselves as they were afraid that Izuku was in a bad mood. Mr. Aizawa entered the room and was surprised to hear how quiet they were.

"Are you all plotting something?" he asked as he looked around the room.

"Not at all. We're just feeling under the weather." Tenya said and everyone else nodded along.

"Well, you all better mind your health. Villains don't take sick days nor should heroes." replied Mr. Aizawa before glancing at the two with their heads down. "Heads up! Class is starting."

Izuku wondered if he was too harsh with what he said the night before.

"Go away. Seeing you makes me feel sick."

Izuku frowned heavily. He did go too far. He'd be hurt if someone said that to him. He knew he should've just kept quiet. How could he make it up to him? Katsuki was a simple yet complex guy. You'd think he liked one thing, but he'd completely dismiss it when you asked about it. Izuku discreetly wrote and rewrote a note and wondered if any of it would get through to him. He erased it all and decided to wait until training.

He couldn't reach him. Whenever they got close, Katsuki would move away. He didn't know it was purposefully or that's how things ended up. He was at a loss.

Shoto approached him then noticed his worry stricken face.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Shoto asked as he walked with him to go change.

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it." Izuku said as he thought of ways to apologize.

"Are you sure? I'm not trying to pressure you, just want you to know I'm here for you." said Shoto.

"I appreciate that. Really." said Izuku with a smile.

"Bakugo wasn't looking too well this morning. He slept through the first two classes. Barely participated in the previous training and this one. Wonder if something's bugging him." Shoto said from an observational standpoint.

He froze up at the sight of Izuku with a angry look in his eyes. Did he cross the line? His eyes softened and he looked close to crying.

"I need to go. I'm sorry, Shoto." Izuku said as he closed up his costume case then dashed off.

He hurried back to the classroom in hopes that he didn't leave yet. He slowed to a stop in front of the classroom door then opened it. He scanned the room and confirmed he wasn't there. He asked his classmates who all said he left right after bringing back his costume. Izuku quickly put his away then ran. Why did he wait so long to apologize?

˗ˏˋ❀ˋˏ ˏˋ❀ˋˏ˗

Izuku sat outside of his room as he never answered his knocks. Eijiro and Mezo often came out to chat with him and offer him water and snacks if he needed it. He didn't plan on moving until Katsuki came out of his room. Eijiro stepped out of his room then sat beside Izuku.

"He's a stubborn one. Are you sure you don't want me to try? He might answer if it's me." said Eijiro as he looked at Katsuki's door. "Oh, looks like he's coming out."

Izuku used Eijiro to block him from Katsuki's view. Eijiro smiled at Katsuki who passed by them. Izuku seized the chance to sneak into his room and wait for his return. For once he was thankful for his carelessness.

"If you need help just scream." said Eijiro before closing the door.

Izuku sat down at his desk where he'd be visible. What if Katsuki turned around and left? It was probably more practical to hang out in the bathroom so he could easily seal off his main exit. He left his spot at the desk then hid in the bathroom.

Izuku started to snoop around, wondering if he was into scented or unscented body wash. Majority was him being into scents, specifically spice.

Katsuki entered his room then locked the door. He was still shaken by the night before. He couldn't approach him like everything was okay because he himself wasn't okay. He moved to lie down then heard his bathroom door open. They both jumped back in fright.

"Wait, before you say anything, I'm sorry. What I said last night was rude and unnecessary. I didn't mean what I said. I was acting out on my emotions..." Izuku said with his head lowered. "Please forgive me."

"I will. On one condition." Katsuki said with folded arms.

"What? I'll do anything." Izuku said eagerly.

"Tell me what made you leave so suddenly yesterday." he asked.

"I felt sick, so I went back to my room to rest..." responded Izuku.

"As if I don't have a bathroom and a bed?" countered Katsuki. "Did you eat something? Drink something? See something? What was it?"

Izuku's eyes darted around as he thought of a plausible lie. He sighed heavily then looked at Katsuki.

"I'm more comfortable using my own bathroom and bed. You know, familiarity..." lied Izuku as he fidgeted.

"But you've slept in my room. And we slept together thrice if we include the times we slept in your room." Katsuki retorted, realizing that Izuku was throwing out lies left and right. "Is there a reason you can't tell me the truth?"

"I am telling the truth." Izuku said.

"Midoriya Izuku, I'm not as stupid as I sometimes come off. You of all people should know that. How are you going to stand there and lie to my face when cold hard facts are putting massive holes in your story?" Katsuki said as he approached Izuku. "Let me guess, you didn't want to study with me and left to go study with Shoto."

"What? No. I just... I looked at your notebook... It made me feel weird so I left, hoping I'd feel better." confessed Izuku as he hung his head low. "It said 'romantic attraction' and 'Momo' underneath it..."

Katsuki looked at Izuku and was conflicted on whether to chuckle at his misunderstanding or complain about him snooping through his things. Both would bring Izuku to question what he meant. He didn't feel up to answering that.

"Ignore it. It has no meaning. I just wrote three words and they happened to be in the same spot." Katsuki said with a shrug.

"Bakugo Katsuki, I've known you for years and not once have you ever 'just' written anything. If I was honest, you have to be too." Izuku said with folded arms.

"I went to talk to Momo one day and we ended up talking about romance during the conversation." lied Katsuki, hoping it sounded truthful.

"Oh... I feel silly now." Izuku said then laughed lightly. "Well, I really only came up to apologize... I'll get going."

Katsuki nodded then waited for him to move. He soon raised an eyebrow as Izuku hadn't moved much from his initial spot.

"Is everything okay? Did you pull something?" Katsuki asked as he looked his legs over.

"Huh? Oh, no. I'm fine. I'll go." said Izuku before taking off.

Katsuki shook his head then flopped down onto his bed. It seemed like everyday he experienced new emotions and mood swings of Midoriya Izuku.

Izuku curled into himself as he rocked back and forth on his bed. He had spaced out and embarrassed himself. His daydream wasn't even that important. It wasn't like he wanted it to come true. It was stupid, weird and... intimate. He quietly picked up his phone and started to text someone.

Izuku reread her reasons and wondered which one described what he was feeling. It clearly wasn't two as he'd know if he had feelings for him. Five was a no go as the atmosphere wasn't at all like that. It was most likely one, it had to be. It made the most sense. Though, he didn't seem to have a problem before.

He sighed heavily then lied back. He texted Momo again in hopes of getting a clearer understanding of what was going on.

Izuku checked his phone once more. Still no reply. Was he busy? It had been well over two hours since he sent his last message. He never considered the fact that maybe Katsuki was ignoring him. Or the fact he might possibly be upset. He looked at the photo of the kitten again then decided to pay Shoto a visit. Just for Shoku.

Shoto opened his door and was surprised to see Izuku on the other side. Lady luck was definitely on his side.

"Come in. Make yourself comfy. I have your favorite drink in the fridge if you're thirsty." said Shoto as he closed the door behind him.

Shoku poked his head out of the bathroom then slowly approached Izuku who wore a big smile. He pounced on Izuku's shoes and caused him to giggle cutely. Shoto let out a tiny gasp at the sound of his giggling. It was music to his ears.

"Aren't you a bundle of joy? Has Shoto been taking care of you well? No? Come live with me then." Izuku said as he played with the playful kitten.

"So, something on your mind?" Shoto asked as he took a seat beside Izuku in the floor.

"You've had a crush before, right?" he asked as Shoku played with his drawstrings.

"No, I was too busy trying to reject my dad, remember?" replied Shoto as he sat back.

"Right... sorry for asking." Izuku mumbled softly.

"It's fine. May I ask why you want to know?" pressed Shoto.

"Just making conversation. By the way, did Kacchan ever stop by you room today?" Izuku asked then smiled at Shoku nibbling on his finger.

"No. I actually wanted him to help me with something, but he never answered my texts. I sent a picture of Shoku and he finally responded. We got into a debate and it was settled by Momo. He disappeared after that. That was probably about... 3 hours ago?" Shoto said, hoping he'd be of some use.

"Shoto, I'm really sorry but I can't stay. I'm worried about Kacchan..." muttered Izuku as he watched the kitten.

"Kacchan this, Kacchan that. Don't you get tired of chasing him around like a puppy? Has he ever done anything for you that he truly deserves your respect and attention? Are you just going to act like those years of bullying didn't exist? That it didn't hurt, hearing others jeer at your dream?" asked Shoto, expressing his concern for the boy before him. "Don't forget who ruined your self esteem and made you feel worthless. Rome wasn't built in a day, so he won't change overnight."

Shoku mewed as he rubbed his head against Izuku's ankle. Shoto watched as he quietly left the room. Did he go too far? Should he have waited? He got up and left as well due to being worried about what he'd do.

˗ˏˋ❀ˋˏ ˏˋ❀ˋˏ˗

Nowhere. Bakugo Katsuki had disappeared into thin air. Izuku had checked every inch of the campus and was assisted by Shoto three fourths of the way through into his search. Shoto fanned Izuku's face as he caught his breath.

"It's getting late. We should turn in." Shoto said with worry in his voice.

"Not until I bring Kacchan back. Or at least find him..." Izuku replied then checked his phone.

Shoto rolled his eyes then snatched his phone. He didn't give him much time to protest as he had frozen him around his waist, making it impossible to move his arms.

"What are you doing? Unfreeze me!" Izuku fussed as his quirk couldn't break through it this time.

"I'm taking you back inside. I'm sure he'll be in class tomorrow, so stop unnecessarily worrying. Worry about other things too... and me." Shoto said as he carried him back.

Izuku struggled then used more power of One for All that his body was used to, successfully breaking him free of the ice. Shoto stood there dumbfounded as Izuku ran away.

"What has he done to you..." Shoto muttered as he felt his heart shatter to pieces.

˗ˏˋ❀ˋˏ ˏˋ❀ˋˏ˗

Katsuki yawned then checked the time. It was well over eleven at night. It was probably best to head back. His phone started to vibrate yet again. He declined his call for the sixth time. It vibrated again, this time showing a different face.

"What?" Katsuki deadpanned as he walked back to U.A.

"Izuku's looking for you. He searched the entire campus for you. I tried to bring him back inside to rest, but he ran away and off campus. He's hasn't come back to campus and it's been two hours. I don't know if he's even eaten. Find him." Shoto said as he looked out the window of the dorm building. "Please. If anything bad were to happen, I don't know if I could live with the guilt."

Katsuki gave him an okay then moved the phone from his ear. Shoto had hung up. He called Izuku back.

"You finally answered! Where are you?" Izuku asked as he had to break yet again due to low energy.

"I'll come to you. Tell me where, even little details." Katsuki said as he waited for details.

Izuku put his phone away then exhaled. He should've listened to Shoto and went back to rest. His stomach growled. He shook his head at his stupidity. What was he doing all of this for? Why did it matter that he found Katsuki?

Izuku closed his eyes in hopes of restoring a bit of energy. He was eventually startled out of his thoughts by a sudden hug from his blind spot.

"Kacchan...?" he called out quietly.

Katsuki moved to face him then pulled out a snack from a bag he held.

"Open." demanded Katsuki.

Izuku parted his lips and found himself being fed by Katsuki. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make his mind go haywire. He didn't want to admit it, he was scared to admit it, the truth that Momo had revealed to him.

"Are you stupid or something? Blindly searching around and tiring yourself out... not eating or drinking..." Katsuki fussed as he moved the bottle he held to his lap. "Don't ever do this again, you weirdo."

"Okay..." Izuku mumbled before leaning forward and giving him a hug.
