Episode 10: Three's a Crowd

I swear no one will tell me anything in this house.

You see, my dad does this thing where he likes to distract me from whatever serious situation is occuring in our family, like back when my mom kept going on and on about how dissappointing it was to have me not finish ballet like she did, my dad bought tickets for Haz and I to go to Six Flags all day until mom was done with her rambling tangent.

Today was no different, except for the fact that this time my dad didn't buy me any tickets to an amusement park, or a big book of fun facts about animals, or a trip to the petting zoo.

No, this time he got me something completely out of the ordinary...

"A date? Are you serious- were you not here witnessing everything that happened yesterday? Are we just going to ignore that?" I asked in disbelief, referring to the hospital incident not understanding why both my mom, dad, even Nat were acting so weird ever since we left the place.

"Look, the adults need the house to ourselves for today to talk things out, I promise I'll explain everything to you soon once I figure out exactly what's going on." Dad explained in a patient tone, the both of us knowing that Nat and Cynthia were upstairs still conversing with one another as I frowned.

"You're not telling me something..." I trailed off, narrowing my eyes at my father who simply inhaled sharply, pressing his clasped hands to his lips.

"Are you saying you don't want to go out on a friendly date with Jaden?" He asked, trying to change the subject as my eyes widened at his words.

"Of course I do! You know that I've been talking about him non-stop but why now out of all times?" I tested, placing my hands on my hips in frustration as I glared up at my dad knowing he was desperate to have me out of the house.

"Uh... If now isn't really a good time I can just come back another day-" Jaden began in a slightly shakey nervous laugh, hesitantly rising from our couch with his hand raised awkwardly in the air.

"Sit down!" My dad and I turned our heads to snap at him in unison making Jaden immediatly sit his cute butt down back onto my sofa with wide frightened eyes.

"Yah, I'd pretty much do what Hulk and daughter Hulk say man." Haz casually advised besides him, leaning back into the cushions engrossed on his cell phone as Jaden gulped, sitting up with a straight posture.

"I just can't believe you out of all people would actually go up to him and ask 'hey sport, wanna take my daughter out?' This is coming from the dad who still thinks I believe babies come from storks." I slowly explained for emphasis as my dad's body tensed.

Yes, yes my father did actually go up to my crush and asked if he wanted to take me out.

Yes, yes I do want to currently light myself on fire and jump out the window.

"Babies do come from storks!" Dad quickly exclaimed, pointing at me as I crossed my arms over my chest, sending him a blank stare.

"I'm serious, I've only ever been on one date thanks to you and you drove and followed us! How am I supposed to believe that you're totally one hundred percent okay with this, unless you're going to be chaperoning us like you did with the last one." I assumed, knowing that even though I was already seventeen my dad would rather stick two forks into his eyes than let me go out on a date by myself.

"Well believe it, cause I'm not taking you." He simply replied with an arrogant expression, placing his hands behind his back and stepping back, gesturing for Jaden to stand to his feet which the poor guy quickly followed.

"Because Haz will be watching you guys on your date." My dad claimed with a smile as my eyes widened before Haz snapped his head up from his phone, now listening in on the conversation.

"Haz is gonna do what now?" Haz asked in confusion as Jaden stayed perfectly still, not knowing what to do as he looked between my smiling dad, my angered face, and Haz's lost expression.

"You'll be in charge of chaperoning these two when they go out for food and movies, right?" My dad said, widening his eyes at Haz who looked over at me as I quickly shook my head.

I then subtly gestured for him to speak up, making Haz's eyebrows raise in realization, his mouth forming in the shape of an 'O' as he slowly nodded in understanding.

"With all... due respect Mr. Styles..." Haz began in a slow voice as I smiled, silently urging him with my eyes to continue before he looked over at my dad.

"I believe that your daughter is old enough to go out on a date by herself since I believe she was raised to be a very trustworthy and respectable young lady." Haz recited what I told him to say if my dad ever proposed this proposition in a robot monotone voice, his green eyes shifting to me awkwardly as I gave him a thumbs up.

"I've got ten bucks." My dad said, retrieving a folded bill from his jeans and raising it between his fingers.

I scoffed.

Yeah, like money would ever buy the strong bond of friendship Haz and I share-

"Sweet, my car's thatta way." Haz immediatly shot up from the couch, passing my dad and taking the money as he showed Jaden the way, a slow smirk forming over my dad's face as my jaw dropped at he betrayal.

"I win." Dad smiled at me, pretending to flip his non-existent long hair as he slung his arm around my tense shoulders, ushering me to the door while I gaped up at him in pure irritation.

"You kids have fun now! Be back at eight," My dad said in a friendly tone, practically pushing me out the door joining Haz and Jaden outside who were waiting on the porch before my dad tossed me my jacket and wallet from the entrance.

"Make sure to have a good time," He continued, waving with a dimpled smile as I glared at Haz before my dad grabbed Jaden by his collar before he could walk down the porch.

"And if you so much as touch or do anything inappropriate with my daughter and I find out, I'll castrate you in your sleep and burn your room down, got it." My dad threatened Jaden in a dangerously low voice, his eyes cold as Jaden began to visibly shake and sweat.

"I said got it." He repeated, causing Jaden to flinch slightly at my father's intensity before he nodded even more.

My dad then smiled.

"Okay bye!" He said in a cheery tone, shoving Jaden away and waving at Haz and I.

"Sorry about that." I told Jaden under my breath as we made our way to Haz's car when he stumbled to my side, making sure to create a good amount of distance between us.

"I think I might have pissed myself." Jaden simply said under his breath with wide eyes, still looking pale in the face as I awkwardly patted his back.

I then grabbed the front of Haz's shirt before he could open the car door, making him stop his whistling and twirling of his keys as I glared at him.

"Really. Ten bucks and you go on his side." I growled at him as he brought his hands up in surrender.

"Hey, hey, you see ten bucks," Haz simply said, taking the money out and straighening it in front of my face as he smirked.

"But I see ten bags of super spicy hot cheetos from the gas station down the corner..." He sang in triumph, shimmying his shoulders with a goofy grin making me roll my eyes in frustration, shoving him away causing him to laugh.

"So... we gonna go in?" Jaden asked, clearing his throat as Haz and I leaned back against his car, not bothering to get inside his vehicle yet as we turned our heads to him.

"Just wait for the big three." I told him, making him raise a brow before I nodded my head to the direction of the house where my dad peeked his head out from the front door, opening it slightly and smiling when he spotted us still at the front.

He then brought his hand up and waved with a grin.

Haz and I plastered on our colgate smiles, waving back at him before he slowly closed the door.

"One," Haz said, sighing as he rested his hands behind his back.

We then saw my dad again, this time abruptly opening the blinds in the front window of the house, peeking through them with his cheery dimpled smile as he waved again.

Haz and I waved the second time again.

"Two." I said under my breath, watching Jaden eye the front window as my dad closed the blinds, a few minutes passing by before I nudged Jaden and pointed at the top of the house.

All three of us looked up in unison when my dad peered through the window of the second story of our home, having gone all the way upstairs just to look down and check up on us on a different angle again as Haz and I smirked.

My dad smiled again, waving shyly at us.

"Three." Haz and I said through clenched teeth as we smiled and waved back one last time before dad finally left the window.

"Alright, that was pretty much it." I said with a nod, looking over at Jaden who had wide confused eyes before he quietly got into the car.

"I can't believe you're not freaking out about what happened yesterday. You do know our parents aren't telling us something." I said, turning my attention to Haz, the both of us still leaning against his vehicle.

Although going out on a date with my long time crush sounded great, my family always came first and I was worried.

"What do you think I was doing that whole time I was on my phone? I hacked and logged in to Aaron's email account for his work and sent his boss a pretty obnoxious insulting letter that will for sure get his ass fired." Haz informed with a raise of his brow, jiggling his phone in front of my face with a triumphant smirk as my eyes widened.

"Woah you called your dad by your first name, I thought Nat didn't let you-"

"A guy who beats up the woman who gave birth to me isn't my dad." Haz immediatly said with a straight voice, catching me off guard for a few moments at how serious he looked, something I've never seem before after all these years of knowing him.

The both of us just stared at eachother, not knowing what to say before I hesitantly placed my hand over his broad shoulder in understanding as he looked away, taking in a deep breath.

"It wasn't your fault." I simply said, already reading his thoughts by the distressed look on his face.

"I should've been home. I should've been there to protect her." He said under his breath, shaking his head and not meeting my gaze as I rubbed his shoulder, trying to comfort him while he rubbed his face.

"My ma practically raised me on her own and even though it may lower my street cred, she's one of my best friends." Haz said, finally looking me in the eye as I sighed, patting his back.

"Oh Haz," I said in a soft tone, giving him a look.

"You have no street cred." I joked, trying to lighten his mood before he finally broke into a grin, taking a strand of my hair and tugging it lightly.

"Aight miss Frizz. Why don't you just get your ass in the car already, our date is waiting." He said, playfully nudging me away from him with his knee making me smile and move over to the back of the car as we got inside.

"So Jaden, where you takin' us?" Haz turned in his seat from the front, framing his handsome face with his large hands as he batted his lashes at my date besides me while I smirked, shaking my head and looking out the window.

"Uh- I was thinking Red Lobster-"

"Oh shit, you got moneyyyy...." Haz trailed off in response, his eyes widening before he started to chew the gum in his mouth obnoxiously like a sassy teenage girl, snapping his fingers in a Z-formation and moving his neck in a circular motion before turning the engine on.

Jaden looked over at me as I casually slumped in my seat, buckling myself up.

"He's always like that." I said, making Jaden slowly nod.

"Ya'll want some romantic music to keep the mood up?" Haz asked over his shoulder, not even bothering to wait for a response as he turned the radio on to a song about "big booty bitchés" while he rapped along with it, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel, swaying from side to side as I sighed, awkwardly avoiding Jaden's gaze.

This was going to be a long date.

"I'm really having just... just a lot of fun." I said, smiling at Jaden who was seated across from me in the dimly lit restaurant as he grinned, playing with his food.

"Me too." He said in a genuine tone, the both of us gazing at one another through the candle light.

Then Haz slowly peeked his head closer between eachother until he was in my view, my smile immediatly falling.

"Yo, pass your boy those breadsticks." He said, biting his lip and eyeing the food, nudging my foot under the table with his as I sighed and handed him the basket of bread, pausing when I saw him eating from boh Jaden and I's plates.

Haz stopped when he saw that both Jaden and I were staring at him.

"Oh mah bad, ya'll want some cause this shit good as fuck." He said, raising his fork with the pasta he stole from Jaden's plate on it between the two of us while we exchanged exasperated looks.

And that's how it was.

Throughout the whole, entire, damn date.

"I'm really excited for this movie, I heard it got some good ratings." Jaden informed once we got into the theatre as I took my seat and smiled up at him.

"Me too, I wanted to see this since I first saw the trailer-" I began, waiting for Jaden to sit besides me only for a tall curly haired dark skinned boy to come bustling through the row of people, spilling popcorn from the large tub in his arms with his 3D glasses slightly crooked on his face.

"Woops, scuse me, sorry 'bout that, my bad, what's good just tryna get through, damn nice shoes my brother," Haz said, practically rubbing his ass in the people's faces who were already seated, pausing to check out someone's nike sneakers, fist bumping them with a smirk before he continued his way through.

Before Jaden could sit down besides me Haz squeezed his way in between us, plopping himself down with a loud satisfied sigh, smiling and snuggling into the chair to get comfortable before he looked back and forth between Jaden and I.

"Best. Date. Ever." Haz concluded, raising his arms and slinging it on both of our shoulders, bringing us closer to him since he was in the middle as he smiled at the screen while I narrowed my eyes at him.

"I hate you."

"Shh.. movie's starting." He whispered back, hearing what I had said in a hushed voice as I groaned and repeatedly hit my forehead against his shoulder before Jaden leaned his head forward, catching my eye.

His eyes flickered down then back up to my face as my gaze followed what he was gesturing at before I saw his hand slowly inch across Haz's lap making me smile.

I copied his small action, trying to keep it subtle before our fingers brushed.

"I hope you guys are trying to hold hands and not both cup a feel of my balls right now cause if so, this is gonna be some awkward love triangle." Haz casually said, not even looking down at our hands on his lap, keeping his eyes on the screen as he took a sip of his coke.

Both Jaden and I sighed, retracting our hands away from one another in unison.

And yet, I couldn't stop smiling.

Not because of Jaden's gesture, but more so because of Haz's simple joke and his charming humor.

That's when it hit me.

My old infatuation I had with my best friend back in sophomore year didn't leave like I first thought it did.

I glanced over at Haz in worry, watching him stuff his face with popcorn before he brought a few pieces of the food to me, his green eyes still glued to the movie as I leaned forward and took the popcorn into my mouth like I always did whenever he offered me food, causing a small smile to form over his face, still not looking at me while he watched the screen.

Yup, this was definitely more than just an infatuation.

Ha, well looks like I'm in deep shit.

Even when the movie ended and both Jaden and Haz were talking about how good the film was I was too busy internally freaking out.

Emotions are so gross.

"Thanks for dropping me off at my house, I had a good time."

"So did I, I mean first the restaurant and then the movies. God it was amazing."

"I hope we can do this again sometime, you know, just you and me."

"Definitely man."

Jaden and Haz finally embraced one another, mumbling small "bro's" under their breaths as I patiently sat on the stairs in front of Jaden's house, picking at the hem of my shirt waiting for their goodbye to be over.

"Oh yeah, it was cool hanging with you too Talie." Jaden called out to me as I waved my hand in the air, not bothering to look back knowing he was mostly happy thanks to my best friend.

"You guys sure bonded over that movie." I noted with a smirk when I heard the front door close as Haz joined me, making me rise to my feet before we walked side by side to his car.

"Hell yeah we did, but if he thinks he's gonna get a kiss on our second date he's got another thing comin." Haz replied, meeting my eyes before he winked with a joking grin as I smiled.

"Well, we went on zero dates and I got a kiss. Guess I'm just a natural playa." I said, putting up gang signs and copying Haz's speech as he blinked down at me, stopping in his tracks and staring at me before he looked around.

"Alright get in the car before you get shot." He said, trying to shove me into the vehicle as he reached out for my hands, attempting to put my gang signs down making me snort and laugh before I took a seat in the passenger side.

Haz slammed the door on me, making me smile as I pressed my face against the glass, bringing my gang signs up atain and saying "playaaaaaa..." making Haz stare at me from outside of the car with a blank expression before he shook his head, smiling and going around to the other side.

"Hey, before we head back to your place I have to stop by Rohan's house for my laptop he borrowed over the weekend. You cool with that?" Haz asked once he got inside the vehicle, buckling himself up as I groaned.

"Rohan makes me uncomfortable..." I said, slumping in my chair until my butt was off the seat as Haz let out a small chuckle at my side.

"He makes everyone uncomfortable."

Which was true, watching Rohan, one of Haz's closest friends since elementary was like watching a car crash on the freeway.

You want to look away but you can't.

Aka what I felt when we arrived at Rohan's house only to be greeted by the sight of the Indian boy himself, shirtless and gleaming under the daylight, flexing his non-existent muscles holding a small pink one pound weight that I swear my mom has in her yoga room as he stood at the doorway.

"Haz, Talie," He said with a nod, forcing a "masculine" grunt out as he continued to lift the small weight, flexing his twig-like arms while Haz and I exchanged looks.

"You caught me at the right time, just finished my one thousand push-ups, you know, the usual-"

"My mom's not with us Rohan." Haz cut him off, causing Rohan's eyes to widen before he immediatly dropped the small pink weight in his hand as if it weighed one hundred pounds rather than just one.

"What -are you serious? Dude I like stripped off my shirt and sprayed water all over my body just for your mom and she isn't even here?" He snapped, leaning against the doorframe with one hand on his waist as Haz rolled his eyes.

Rohan's had a little crush on Nat ever since the first grade.

"You know and I know that I'll never bring my mom to your place, plus she's still avoiding you." Haz said, patting Rohan's shoulder and taking the liberty to head inside making me follow behind as well while Rohan gaped at us.

"Why?"

"Um, I don't know, maybe because the last time you crashed at my place over night you snuck into her room before bed, posed laying down across her mattress until she came in and you started singing 'I may be young but I'm ready.'" Haz reminded him as Rohan slammed his front door dramatically, raising an accusing finger over at him.

"Hey! Your mom laughed, clapped her hands, and started singing along with me." Rohan quickly defended.

"You were a freshman wearing a gold g-string in her bed. Of course she'd laugh. It's sad." Haz said with a chuckle, making Rohan roll his eyes at him before he grabbed a laptop from his couch, handing it over.

"Here, take it. Thanks for letting me use it again, you guys make yourself at home while go put on a shirt now but just for future reference, you might want to delete your history on there." Rohan advised, giving the both of us a thumbs up as we sat down on his couch while he ran upstairs.

"Oh jeez, what weird pornos did he watch on your computer this time." I asked, going on my phone not daring to look at the computer screen as Haz opened his laptop, inhaling sharply.

"Oh surprise, it's milfs." He said which was basically what we both knew Rohan would watch.

"You know these actually look like real moms..." Haz began after a few moments, scrolling through his computer as my eyes widened.

"You're actually looking at them?" I laughed, bringing up a couch pillow between us to block out the screen from my view.

"Oh come on, it ain't that ba- holy shit...."

Haz stopped, his voice cutting of so abruptly that I peeked over the pillow to look at him, surprised to see the frozen alarmed expression on his face as he stared wide eyed at the screen.

"You okay?" I asked in a small voice, hoping his reaction wasn't because of how kinky the video was.

"Um... you might -you might wanna see this." He responded in an awkward high pitched voice, staring intensely at the screen as I immediatly shook my head.

"Haz I am not watching milf porn." I told him in a stern tone, clutching the cushion protectively in front of me as he slolwy nodded.

"Well I understand, especially since your mom is in one of them." He said in a slow cautious voice, blowing out a small awkward breath between his pursed lips as my eyes widened at his words, my hands releasing the cushion before I practically reached out and yanked the laptop out of his grasp.

There on the pornhub site in a thumbnail of a video was a picture of my mom, bare naked sprawled on a bed with her... everything showing, legs spread with some butt naked man over her as I felt my jaw drop to the floor.

"Shut. Up." I said, my heart racing and my hands shaking when I brought them to my face in disbelief.

My mom was a porn star.
