don't get too close to her

"Wait a second... School started like a half hour ago, why aren't you there?" Susie asked, narrowing her eyes at you suspiciously.

"I could ask you the same thing," you responded, not wanting to admit that you were afraid of facing her.

"That's! A fair point actually. I decided to skip today. Just... Didn't wanna have to deal with some things. Guess it couldn't be stopped though, huh?" she said.

"Same here. Hey, what exactly do you do in this town when you skip...? In my old city, we went to stores and stuff, but the only store here is-"

"A flower shop. Yeah, it's a lot different here than in other towns. Me personally, I usually go commit comic mischief, but I'm feeling lazy today. I'm probably gonna go home and do nothing." She paused. "Do you wanna join me?" she asked.

"Sure, I've got nothing else going on, why not?" you reply nonchalantly. Internally, you were dying. You were sure she hated you, but here she was, inviting you to hang out. You felt your phone buzz in your pocket and pulled it out. You had a notification saying that your phone was at 10%. "Oh shit, my phone's gonna die, so you mind if I go grab a charger from my house? I'll be back here in a few minutes if you don't mind waiting."

"Yeah, sure. But if you take too long, I'm going without you." She smirked at you and motioned for you to go get it. You smiled back at her and started sprinting towards your house.

Soon, your Sprint slowed to a jog and you looked back and saw Susie plopped down in the middle of the road, sitting cross legged and scrolling through her phone. You laughed internally at her confidence, dispute the fact that you knew very well that nobody would dare run her over for fear of her coming back for revenge.

"Oof!" You slammed into someone walking down the sidewalk in the opposite direction of you. "Sorry- oh, hey Kris."

"(Y/N)? Watch where you're going!" she exclaimed with a little edge to her voice.

"Heh, sorry. Why aren't you in school?"

"I always skip on Wednesdays," she responded coolly.

"Wha- do you really? Isn't your mom a teacher? How do you get away with that?" She rolled her eyes.

"I wasn't being serious. I just decided to not go today. What are you doing out of school? Skipping during your first week? That's pretty cocky, (Y/N)..." she tutted.

"Yeah, whatever. I didn't want to go, so I didn't. Simple as that."

"Hey- isn't that Susie?" Kris pointed at Susie who was still sitting in the road.

"Yeah, we're going to be hanging out today. Speaking of, I need to grab a charger so we can-"

"Can I join?" Kris blurted out without thinking. "I-if you don't mind. I don't really care either way, it'd just be more interesting to hang with you guys." You looked at them suspiciously.

"I guess, I dunno, it depends on what Susie says. We're going to her place, so..."

"Ah."

You continued towards your house, but this time Kris followed you. You didn't say anything but grabbed your charger and made your way back to Susie. When you were just out of her eyesight, Kris placed a hand on your shoulder and held you back for a second.

"Just... Don't get too close to her, got it? Good," she whispered in your ear. She shoved your shoulder lightly and continued walking, now you being the follower.

What...?
