Chapter Twenty Two | Report

I woke up, in a bundle of blankets, to the sound of the shower. I slowly stretched before snuggling closer to the blankets. Much warmth. So fluff. Very snuggles.

I was ready to go back to sleep but unfortunately Eva had other plans.

"RISE AND SHINE!" Eva screamed as she pushed me into the floor. Thankfully the blankets managed to act as a buffer so it didn't hurt. Unfortunately, I was left wide awake once Eva was done torturing me. Why did she have to open the curtains?

"I'm going to grab something for breakfast, I want you awake and showered by the time I get back," she said, whilst stuffing a purse.

I groaned in response. I heard the door shut before attempting to go back to sleep. I need sleep. The sun.. It burns!

After failing to fall off to sleep, I went in search of my phone. The poor thing was lying dead in my bag so I put it on to charge before I went to shower. Maybe there's some good Pokemon nearby.

I felt a bit refreshed after my shower. Eva wasn't back yet so I checked my phone to see I had quite a few messages. Apparently I was very popular since I hadn't checked my phone since yesterday afternoon. I need to make more friends...

Antonio is on his way to Eva's place tonight. Make sure he doesn't get in.

Answer the door and don't allow him in.

Intervene!
-CC

Make sure he leaves.

Now!
-CC

No date must be set between the two! Don't leave them alone.
-CC

Report back.

Well this was the first time they'd ask for me to report back. Obviously they were nervous because I didn't see the messages and respond in the way they wanted me to do so. I hadn't seen them so desperate. Maybe I should ignore them a bit more often to see how they react. Haha, for once I was one step ahead of them.

Antonio left without getting a date. I made sure he wouldn't return for the night.

The report was short and sweet. They didn't need to know what extent I went through to intervene with them. I tried to remember that list I created about the book I read. If I recall correctly, Eva needs to go on a date with a nice guy before she's Antonio manages to get a date out of her. Better work on setting her up whilst she still hates him.

Who could I set her up with? They'll have to be well-mannered and have a good personality. They'll also need to get Eva's approval. I don't know many guys her age and this town is rather small. This might be harder than I initially thought. Eva returned whilst I was deep in thought, plotting ways to get her to agree to a date.

"What are you thinking so deeply about?" She said, snapping me out of thought. I hadn't even heard her come in. In her hands was a box of donuts and another box of cupcakes. She was dressed casually in jeans and a blouse.

"Umm, I'll tell you if you give me some donuts," I attempted to change the direction of the conversation. She didn't need to know my exact thought and I get some donuts out of it, yum!

"So... What was last night about?" I enquired, even though I already knew. We made our way to the kitchen area. I took a seat and opened the donuts. It contained a chocolate ringed donut and one filled with strawberry jam. That book turned out handy, better finish the other one and compile a list.

Eva shrugged, "I don't really have any idea. It was a bit stalkerish though. Who gets someone's address via 'connections'?" She attempted to mock Antonio's voice.

"Mmm, I think he wanted to ask you out again." I started munching on my donuts whilst Eva made coffee.

"Eww no! I don't even like him," was Eva's instant reply. She took a seat across from me and opened her cupcakes. It was a chocolate frosted cupcakes.

"I bet I could find you a better guy to date," I suggested. Please agree!

"Who?" she eyed me suspiciously. I don't blame you, I'd do the same thing if I was sitting in your seat.

"No one at the moment but I can find someone," I honestly replied. Seriously, I couldn't think of anyone but it's still pretty early.

"Why?"

"Why not? You'd also have a reason to get Antonio off your case," I responded indifferently.

"Fine, but only one date,"she emphasised.

"Unless you like him," I muttered before we moved on to another topic.

I decided to chill at Eva's place until my shift instead of going grocery shopping with her. I used the time to finish reading that book I had started yesterday so I could get ahead of the game. I laid down on the sofa and got into the book.

Once I was done reading, I was suddenly grateful for doing my job. The guy was so insensitive and ungrateful and took advantage of the girl who suddenly turned into a spineless love-sick fool. Why can't I just burn this book?

However, I used self-restraint because I actually need it to plan and I didn't own the book. Pretty sure Emily wouldn't lend me anymore books if I distorted them. I opened up my notes and started the list from where I predicted the story line currently was:

• Awkward situation siblings put them in. (Invite them over)
• Partners to work on project.
• Female classmate interferes with their relationship by pushing them together.

I continued until the end but I was already working at the root of it so it shouldn't be too hard to throw Emma off track of Ashton. At least Emma seemed somewhat more friendlier yesterday. Maybe now she would be easier to approach.

Hopefully she won't flip like a switch again.

I want donuts now.
