Chapter Thirty Three | Love Letters

My instant reaction turned out to be disastrous. I stood up, ready to run to class, and my chair fell with a bang. The sound echoed through the library.

"SHHHHHH!" The librarian hissed.

I didn't say anything to avoid being reprimanded for noise. The damage was done anyway. I need to calm down.

Instead I picked up the chair and slowly made my way out the library. I needed to think of a legitimate excuse for disappearing and missing 20 minutes of class. I tripped? I got lost? I was sick? I fainted?

Once I walked out the doors of the library, I started to speed walk to class. The halls seemed to be empty and only the soft mummers from classrooms could be heard, along with the sound of my shoes slapping the floor. Nearly there...

I turned the corner, only to be traumatised. I let out a short shriek. I was too wrapped up in my thoughts, I hadn't heard the sound they were making. I wish I hadn't seen them either. My poor eyes!

Marissa and Jacob were busy getting heated against the wall. The were so wrapped up in each other they probably hadn't heard me approaching. They jumped apart at the sound of my screams of horror. My poor mind would hold that image forever...

Jacob relaxed at the sight of me whilst Marissa looked tense.

"Oh it's just you," Jacob sighed.

"Yes, poor, unfortunate me who just witness some r-rated things that I wish I'd never see you do." I couldn't even look at them in the face. Some things you don't ever want to see a person get up too.

"It wasn't that bad," Jacob defended. He scratched his head and tried to look as innocent as possible. I narrowed my eyes.

"I saw you hands in places that they shouldn't have been and I heard sounds that I shouldn't have heard," I replied. Marissa just stood there blushing. She was probably too horrified at getting caught to say anything. I'm not going to provoke her either.

"Well you should pay more attention to your surrounding before you casually stroll through the corridors," Jacob responded, slightly irritated. He's probably upset that I interrupted them from... Yeah.

"Well next time find a empty classroom or a quiet corner no one visits if you want to get busy," I suggested. Please take this suggestion into consideration so no other unsuspecting victim is plagued my the images I've just witnessed...

Jacob shrugged and grabbed Marissa's waist, "I think I'll do that."

Holding Marissa by the waist, they both walked past me to whatever corner they could find. I heard Marissa giggle but decided against looking over my shoulder in case I witnessed something else. I still need to get to class!

It seemed as if I had missed another 10 minutes of class so I made my way to the next class instead of pitching up to a class that was nearly over. Hopefully the letter wasn't sent there.

I waltzed into the classroom, knowing that it was empty, only to find someone else in there.  Calvin seemed to be sleeping in the corner where he usually sat. He used his bag as a pillow. This is the perfect opportunity to draw on his face...

I put my bag down quickly and slowly opened it. I grabbed my pencil case and tried , as quietly as possible, to open the zip. I rummaged around my pencil case until I found what I wanted. Yes! The permanent marker!

I tiptoed towards Calvin's sleeping figure with the marker in hand. Once I was closer enough, I uncapped the marker. I paused to see if the sound woke him up. No movement, looks like I'm good to go. Maybe a unibrow and a mole? Makeup would also be very useful around now.

The tip of the marker was about to touch his skin when he suddenly jerked up and grabbed my wrist. So close...

"Nice try," he said in a sleepy voice.

"How? I was quiet!" I tugged my wrist out of his grip.

"Light sleeper, I heard you as soon as you entered because you weren't quiet at that point," he explained.

"Oh come on, you should've let me know you were awake!"

"Nah, I wanted to see what you would do. Plus people usually leave when they see me." He stretched and covered his mouth with a yawn.

"You didn't even let me finish what I was going to do," I complained. I replaced the cap on my marker and went to put it way. Calvin continued to lounge in his seat.

"I was 100% sure you'd go for a permanent marker so I wasn't going to allow you to ruin my face!" He defended his actions.

"Whatever," I sulked and hauled my bag to the back of the class, next to Calvin. The bell rang, letting us know that other students would arrive soon.

The first few students that entered seems to give us odd glances. We both ignored them until we were interrupted. The teacher walked in and wrote the pages and exercises we would work on. Everyone's going to have loads of homework this weekend with the way we are all working.

Calvin and I were interrupted when a girl came up to us to talk, "Can I ask you something Calvin?"

She glanced at me and gave me a look that told me she wanted to talk in private with him. I raised my hands in surrender and put my earphones in so I could listen to music. Except I turned the volume off. I definitely wanted to see what's going on...

"So I was wondering if you have a date to the dance and if you wanted to go with me...?" she nervously asked. For a few minutes I actually forgot about that dance.

"Oh sorry, I already have one but I'll definitely save a dance for you," Calvin gave a charming smile to soothe her rejection.

"Oh okay, I'll see you then I supposed." She left and went back to her friends who were giggling as they watched the exchange.

I took out my earphones to return to my conversation with Calvin except my curiosity couldn't stop me from asking, "Who?"

"Who what?" he responded. He looked slightly confused.

"Umm, your date?" He probably knew I was listening into the conversation at that point.

"Ohhh... Well I'm sure you'll eventually find out on Monday with all the gossip." He had a secretive smile. It only made me more curious. I'll just have to ask Emily over the weekend.

I didn't see someone enter the class from the office as I was too busy talking with Calvin.

"Ella, there's a letter here, please come and get it," the teacher announced. A few students glanced curiously because who doesn't like to know what's in letter but I gave nothing away as I slipped in straight into my bag.

"Why didn't you open it?" Calvin complained.

"I don't ask you see your love letters," I joked.

"Haha very funny, now tell me what's in there," he demanded. I didn't want to show him because I didn't know what surprises were held in there. Just now he finds out about my interference with everyone's lives.

"Community service," I muttered. He dropped the topic and started talking about something else.

When I was on my way home, far away from anyone else, I decided to open the letter. The letter was short and sweet.
