Chapter Thirty Six | The End

I woke up to the sound of continuous knocking. I groaned and covered my ears with my pillows. Didn't they get the message that no one is home?

I just wanted to spend the weekend as I planned. I wanted to: sleep, sleep, and sleep. Last night had been fun for most of the evening but I got home quite late so I had to catch up on my sleep this morning.

Apparently they didn't. The knocking continued. No one else was home. My mum had come in earlier to tell me that she was going shopping, I grunted in acknowledgment. Can they just least go away until I'm ready to get out of bed?

Eventually, I had enough. I rolled out of bed and marched to the door to find out who was spoiling my amazing weekend of sleep. I tied my hair up and roughly opened the door.

"What do you want?" I drowsily demanded. Calvin stood there, unaffected by my appearance. Does he have a death wish?

"Well I came with an offer to give you free food." He offered with a smile.

"Where's the food then." My hand was outstretched ready to receive the food.

"At the cafe." He shrugged.

"Well I'll take you up on that offer another day, so I'm off to bed now," I dismissed. I was ready to slam the door when he stopped me. I hope my bed is still warm.

"It's already the afternoon, you can sleep tomorrow. The offers only for a limited time only."

"Fine. Meet me in an hour. I'm going to shower." I complained. Free food is free. That's the most important thing.

"Well aren't you going to invite me in?"

"No. Go to Jacob's house. No one else is home." I demanded. I can't watch him whilst I'm showering now can I? Plus he's a boy, my parents wouldn't be happy about that.

"Fine, see you in an hour." He retreated to Jacobs house.

I debated on whether I could squeeze another few minutes of sleep. Well sleep won so I jumped back into bed for a while. It doesn't take me that long to shower and get ready, right?

I then took a shower to wake me up and I went about getting ready for my free breakfast. I threw on some clothes. Nothing tastes better than free food.

Once I was done, I still had time before Calvin returned so I decided to check my messages and reply to some of them. For the first time in a fortnight, there was no next a from any of the CC numbers. I also realised that Calvin had tried to text me before knocking my door down. Most of them consisted of open the door and variations of that.

Heard Antonio's leaving town. Looks like we won't have to see his face again XD
-Eva

Haha one less creepy admirer for you too! Not that you need to worry with Sam around...  :P

I still can't believe you came to the ball last night (even if you left really early). We need to talk ASAP. Btw are you done with my other book?
-Emily

Lol I'm scared to find out what you want to talk about. Yeah, I'll give you the book back on Monday.

Don't worry. It's only about Max <3 And Calvin camping outside your house this morning. XD
-Emily

Don't ask. I don't even know what he's even up to. However, I'm all up for talking about Max :D
I have to go now, I'll come visit you later on today.

Don't think you'll get away with this so easily. I'll see you later.
-Emily

It was perfect timing as Calvin knocked on the door. I locked up the house and went to join him outside. He was waiting by his car, which was parked at Jacob's house by the time I left.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted to walk or not..?" He said walking towards me.

"Let's walk instead," I told him. I can use this walk to get some candy on Pokemon Go!

We fell into a bit of an awkward silence. I made some small talk to get the conversation going and to kill the silence.

"So I heard Antonio's left town for some other business," I started.

"Oh yeah, me too. It must be a relief for everyone at the cafe," he replied.

"Yeah it is a relief. What exactly do you want in exchange for this free breakfast?" I blurted out. So much for small talk...

"It's lunch time," he attempted to change the subject.

"It's breakfast for me. Now answer my question!" I demanded.

"I was hoping to have the conversation after you've eaten but I suppose we can't talk now."

"Go on," I urged him. I knew nothing in life is free.

"Well I was going to convince you to continue working with CC," he responded.

"Oh."

"Yeah. I don't understand why you said no. You were really good at it. I read your file whilst my dad wasn't looking. It would also be nice to have someone to discuss this stuff with," he continued.

"I said no for a reason. It's too much work to juggle on top of it being the last year. I kind of need to concentrate on school. We can still talk about it seeing as I know about it now," I explained.

"I'd help you!" He tried to persuaded.

"And then you'd fail something. You've been at it for a while so you can easily juggle everything but right now I need to concentrate on school for a bit. I know it's only the start of the year, but maybe later on I might find time," I replied. Yeah right, I doubt it will happen.

"You're killing my dream," he tried to guilt trip me. He held his hand over his heart in a dramatic manner.

"Oh shut up, I doubt that was your dream." I elbowed him.

"Fine, be like that."

"Whatever. My free food is calling me." We were approaching town.

"I'm not sure if I want to give it to you anymore," he mumbled.

"Regardless, it's still free for me," I sung.

"Whatever, food is food," he agreed.

It turned out that the free breakfast was one of many outing we had that year and only the start of a new adventure...
