Chapter Five | Coffee Chaos

One usually finds themselves rather famished after conquering a few gyms.

I was currently in New Town walking away from the gym. I had left a magikarp to defend him. Ashton would get the message. Earlier, Jacob dropped me home and I finished all the leftover pizza whilst waiting for my phone to charge a bit. I needed food now.

I decided to go to my uncle's cafe, which was close by, instead of going all the way home to find something to eat. I walked down the path, skipping over a few cracks, until I reached the cafe.

The were a few customers scattered around, some of them on the outside tables. I was greeted by a few familiar faces as I made my way to the office at the back to greet my uncle.

I knocked on the door and waited to be signalled in. Uncle Mark opened the door and welcomed me in. My uncle was a tall and thin man that had gained a stomach over the years. He had peppered hair and a pair of round glasses covering his brown eyes.

"Ella! What brings you to this side of town?" He asked.

"Oh you know, free food and all," I replied with a cheeky smile. He let out a short laugh.

"You know the rules, whatever you eat is given back in your time," he replied before the phone rang. He picked up the phone before gesturing for me to leave. I waved to before I shut his office door.

My uncle and I came up with a deal where I would help him around the shop if someone was absent and in return I'd get food. He sometimes paid me depending on how long I helped out.

I was walking out when I ran into Eva. Eva was a short, petite waitress who's worked for my uncle since she was 18. She had blue eyes and light brown hair. It had been 4 years since I met her and we got along very well.

"Hey Ella! Nice hair! I see you've made a change from your dark brown hair. What made you decide to dip dye blue?" Eva asked. I had done my hair last week but she wasn't working when I popped in.

"Thank you! Well I like the colour blue and I thought; why not?" I replied.

"Well you made a good decision, it really suits you. Why don't you go sit down at one of my tables and I'll catch up with you in a bit when I take my break." As if on queue, Eva was called to the kitchen. She sent me a smile before making her way back to kitchen.

I made my way round the counter and took a seat at one of Eva's booths instead of a table. Eva got to serve the same area whenever it was her shift because she was one of the longest staff members. I started playing Candy Crush to pass time whilst I waited for Eva.

The sound of children laughing and cheerful conversations drifted around me. The smell of cooked food and freshly brewed coffee wafted around. I was content playing Candy Crush, occasionally glancing around to see what was going on around me and smiling at children that passed by whispering about my hair colour.

Suddenly everyone fell silent. Parents pulled their children close to them and shushed them. I looked around for the cause of this reaction. It was Antonio.

Antonio was a muscular man who always wore tailored suits. His black hair was always combed back and had a pair of sunglasses on that hide his intimidating stare.

Antonio was a billionaire staying in town for 6 months as part of a project. He was the talk of the town when he arrived. It soon became apparent to everyone that his looks did not match his attitude. He made one of the other waitresses cry the first day he came here because she asked him to repeat his order. Just great! I had to see the asshole right now.

Eva went and took down his order. She was the unlucky one today. The waitresses literally picked out straws to see who would server him. I actually participated in this event and was lucky enough to not draw the shortest straw. He better not do anything to Eva.

The best thing about this guy was he usually ordered the same thing so someone in the back was already making it. I mean I'd want him to be gone as soon as possible if I had to serve him.

Make sure Eva doesn't take the fall for something that isn't her fault.

What do they mean? I better see what Eva is up to.

I watched Eva place his chocolate muffin on the table before carefully placing down his black coffee. Just when the cup was about to touch the table, Antonio turned and hit the cup.

SMASH!

The cup broke and the coffee spilt down the side of the booth and dripped onto the floor. I didn't think it was possible for it to get any quieter.

"Look at what you've done!" Antonio started shouting. Obviously no one told him there's no point in crying over spilt milk or in this case coffee...

"I'm sorry," Eva muttered as she looked down, preparing herself for a scolding. She was shaking. Oh so that's what the text was about.

I quickly got to my feet to intervene the scene. It wasn't Eva's fault. "Eva go get a cloth and a mop to cleanse this up," I started.

"Excuse me! But who do you think you are to get involved? And you-," he pointed at Eva, "I'm not done with you."

I ignored him, "Just go and get the stuff."

She started to leave and grab the stuff. I turned to do damage control with Antonio who was glaring at me. I'm going to die! Someone send help.

"I'm sorry for this Sir, I'm the owners daughter. To compensate for this mess we will give you another coffee and the next coffee you buy on the house." I said without stuttering. Show no weakness! It's the only way to survive.

"I want to speak to the owner. I don't believe little children." He made a dismissive gesture.

Apparently another waitress was ahead of me and had already gone to notify Uncle Mark of the problem. Someone heard my mental call for help.

Uncle Mark apologised for the mess and basically said the same thing as me. Antonio glanced in my direction. I think I'm going to leave this conversation.

Instead I helped Eva quickly clean up the spilt coffee so we could bother retreat from that tyrant. Meanwhile, someone else quickly started to prepare him another coffee. This time he asked for take away. At least he was leaving!!

You could visibly see everyone relax once Antonio walked out the cafe. Eva walked out for a breather out the back and I left her alone. She needed some time alone.

I received another message.

That was badass!

At the same moment I read it someone said the exact same thing from behind me.
