{ Joffrey }
✧✦✧
𝕵offrey stared at the messenger in front of him in shock for a few moments. It didn't quite register in his mind what the man had said for a few moments, before he stood from his throne and began to storm down the stairs.
"Your Grace." Rolan appeared on the other side of him, shaking his head as he looked around. "It's customary for you to wait for your wife here, in the throne room."
"I don't care what the customs are." Joffrey shook his head, daring the other man to argue. "My wife has just come back from over a year in the North and I just want to see her. Customs can go to hell."
"Of course, Your Grace." Rolan bowed, before Joffrey brushed past the man. He somehow managed to maintain a steady walk, until he was out of the view of the courtiers, before taking off in a rushed sprint to the main courtyard, dodging guards as he did. Every thought floating through his head was of Lyra and whether or not she was alright.
He took the steps down two at a time as he saw the head of the column coming into view. Joffrey could make out Elia and Lyra's horse, Blanche, before just about making out his wife on the mare's back, though they were still too far away to see clearly.
Brining his fingers to his lips, Joffrey whistled loudly. Elia perked up, before abandoning Lyra's side and sprinting for the man. She was barking, wagging her tail before she slammed into his body. Joffrey was unsure of how he remained standing from the force of the hit, kissing the wolf's head and scratching behind her ears as she whimpered and licked at his hands.
"How's my best girl?" Elia let out another muted bark, as Joffrey grinned and examined her. She didn't look injured, thankfully, but if she had been it would have likely already healed over. Glancing up, he watched as Lyra dropped from Blanche's back and handed her horse to a guard.
Not caring for what etiquette demanded, Lyra ran towards him. Joffrey opened his arms, allowing his wife to throw herself into them, much like her wolf had just done, before clinging onto her tightly. She was crying, Joffrey soon realised, her head buried into his neck as he smiled widely. Lyra was back. She was home and safe and with him once more.
"Hello, My Love." Joffrey muttered.
"I missed you so much." Her voice was choked and watery as she threaded her hand through his hair, tugging him closer though that was hardly possible.
"It's alright." Joffrey pressed a kiss to the side of her head, tightening his grip around her. "You're home. You're back with me."
"I don't think I can leave your side again." Lyra revealed, pulling away from him enough so that she could bring him down into a kiss. It tasted salty, from the tears on her face, but Joffrey did not care. His wife was back.
He finally pulled away when the need for air grew too great, leaning his forehead against her as she sighed in relief.
"You don't have to leave my side ever again." Joffrey rubbed the tears from her cheeks, smoothing her hair out.
"I love you."
"I love you too," Joffrey pressed another kiss to her hair, before spotting Tylar. "Go on, you should go and say hello to Arah and Drew."

{ Lyra }
Lyra wiped her tears away, before spotting Arah and walking straight into her arms. The two women began to cry once more, both hugging each other tightly.
"You're alright." Arah managed to get out between sobs. "You're alive."
"I missed you." Tylar and Joffrey watched the two women, smiles on their face as Drew also appeared to wrap his arms around the pair. He stood taller than both of them, having grown in the past year and Lyra didn't appreciate feeling so short beside him. "When did you grow?"
"Whilst you were gone." Drew muttered, leaning his chin on her head. "You're back. Did you kill any Wights?"
"I did." Lyra patted his cheek, before ruffling the teenager's hair. "Has your training been alright? Keeping up with sword fighting and reading and writing?"
"Yes, Your Grace." Drew's grin hadn't left his face since he saw her and it only grew as he realised that he could throw himself onto Tylar as well. Lyra looked around her family, before her eyes went wide.
"The children?"
"All completely fine. Margaery and Tommas sleep during afternoon court and Mikael is being looked after." Elia perked up at Mikael's name, looking ready to bolt for the boy though she stayed by her mistress. "We can go and see them if you wish."
Lyra could only manage a nod.
Joffrey took her arm, leading her up into the Red Keep and through the halls, tracing the familiar steps back to the Royal chambers. Lyra tightened her grip on her husband, her excitement growing, before he opened the door opposite their own. Lyra peered inside, her eyes going wide at the sight of Mikael.
The boy was four now and had grown so much since she had left. His blond hair had been cut shorter, in a similar style to Joffrey's, and he was giggling as he played with the toy soldiers. The wet nurse caught sight of the king and queen and bowed, before excusing herself.
"Mikael." Joffrey called, causing his son to turn around, eyes going wide. "Look, Mama's here."
Mikael gasped, before jumping to his feet and running towards Lyra. She crouched down, wrapping her arms around her son tightly, pressing a kiss to his head. Lyra glanced up at her husband, who sent her the familiar half smile that she adored, before turning back to her son.
"Mama! How was north?"
"It was good though I missed my Little Lion dearly." Lyra murmured, as Joffrey smiled down at them. He was holding onto Elia, letting Lyra and Mikael reunite before the wolf pounced on them. "But I'm not going to be leaving again. I'll be here for a very long time."
"I don't want you to go again. Da and I missed you a lot."
"I missed you too." Lyra smiled, squeezing the boy tighter as she glanced at her husband. "Both of you. I love you."
"Love you too, Mama." Mikael pulled away, smiling widely with the same grin that Lyra was used to seeing plastered over her husband's face. "Elia!"
The wolf wriggled out of Joffrey's grip, nuzzling the boy gently as Lyra stood up and allowed Joffrey to lead her to the nursery. The crib closest to her held her little girl. Margaery's hair had grown longer and Lyra noticed that the little girl shared her nose and darker hair, a smile forming on her face as she gently brushed against the girl's cheek. The baby cooed in her sleep, a smile forming on her face as Lyra's grin grew.
The other crib held her youngest son. The boy looked just like his father and brother, though Lyra could see that he also shared her nose and freckles, smattering across his cheeks.
"They've grown so much." Lyra muttered, smiling sadly. "I missed so much from their lives."
"You haven't." Joffrey promised her, pressing his hand to her back. "You missed their throwing up and the sleepless nights."
"I wouldn't have minded that."
"And you were fighting for their future." Joffrey squeezed her waist gently, pressing a kiss to her hair. "They may not understand now, but in the future they will know that their mother went North to keep the Wights and Night King from destroying civilisation as we knew it. You're a hero."
"I didn't do all that much." Lyra shook her head, not used to the praise. "The ones who died were the true heroes, as were the soldiers who fought and were injured because of it."
"Don't downplay yourself." Joffrey reminded her, before placing a hand on the small of her back and leading her away from the sleeping twins. "You are a hero in my eyes."
She flushed red, leaning into Joffrey's shoulder as she watched Elia play with Mikael on the carpet.
"Now, tell me everything about it." Joffrey's face fell into the one he used as king. "I need to know all about Daenerys' motives, who was killed, what the other armies are l..."
"Of course." Lyra cut her husband off, smiling at him. "But I would like to bathe first, because I smell like a horse, and change into clean clothes. After that."
"Sorry." Joffrey looked slightly sheepish, a small smile playing on his lips, before he drew her in for another kiss. "I am so glad that you came home."
Hiya,
These next few chapters are gonna be a bit of a rollercoaster, so have fun with that. I love Joffrey and Lyra reuniting and Lyra with her kids is adorable. Tylar is just amazing, what a guy, as is Arah and Drew has grown.
Let me know what you think,
Love Li xx
