#2 (old)

I sat at the bar, watching people drink like there was no tomorrow and dancing. As I took a shot of tequila, Claude came up to me.

"Hey toots, it's about time we left the bar." He said as he grabbed my hand. "Why? We've only been here for ten minutes." I said.

"I know, but I kinda what to go home, I'm kinda tired." He said as he looked behind him. Three men then came from the game room and I could see Claude's eyes widen. "Claude, what did you do?" I asked him. "I'll tell you later." He said as he pulled me out my chair and we ran to get out of the building. For me, it was a bit difficult considering I was wearing heels. As I looked behind me, the three men were chasing us. One of them pulled out a gun and started shooting at us. Once we finally got out of the bar, we got into the car and drove off while they kept trying to shoot us. They stopped shooting once we were out of range.

As I sat in the passenger seat, catching my breath and regaining my thoughts I stared at Claude. "What was that for?" I asked him.

"Um, I might or might not have cheated at a game of poker." He muttered. "WE ALMOST DIED CAUSE YOU CHEATED ON A FRICKING GAME OF POKER!" I yelled at him. "It's no big deal." He said as he drove down the road.

"Pull this car over," I told him, and he did. He pulled over to the side of the road.

"So, it's no big deal; us being almost killed is no big deal. Us possibly getting kicked out of the bar is no big deal. Everything is no big deal." I said plainly. Claude rested his chin on his hand as his right hand rested on the steering wheel. "Can you just get over it?" He questioned me.

"No, I won't. You just finished ten years of being in jail because of you for robbing banks and the rich. You don't want to go back do you?" I asked him. "Hey, you're just as guilty as me. You helped do it." He argued.

"What was I supposed to do, it's not like I wanted to be a getaway driver, I didn't want to hurt people, but I had to because of you," I said.

"Get out of my car." He mumbled.

"What?" I questioned. "I said, get out of my car." He almost yelled. I stepped out of the car, and I slammed the door shut. The car then started to move.

"Claude, you better not leave me here in the middle of nowhere. Claude? CLAUDE!" I yelled as he drove off. I ran after the car before I could catch up I fell on the hard pavement scraping my knee and hands. I watched as the car disappears in the distance.

"He left me, he actually left me here stranded alone on the road, in the middle of nowhere. Now someone kidnaps me and kills me." I said to myself. I heard a car coming from behind me. I turned around I saw a car stopping in front of me. The car door opened and there stood a semi-tall figure.

"Emma, is that you?" I could hear the figure say, I then realized it was Michael. A good friend of Claude and I.

"Micheal, thank goodness it's you," I said with relief. "What in the world are you doing in the middle of the road?" He asked me as he helped me up, and get into his car, he got into the car and drove off.

"It doesn't matter why I was in the middle of the road, but when I get my hand around Claude's throat I'm gonna strangle him," I said. "Well, whatever Claude did it must have been bad cause you love the guy and here you are planning to kill him," Micheal says calmly. "And I know how to get away with his murder," I say.

As we drove down the road, I saw on the side of the road a car pulled over to the side of the road. The closer we got I could see a figure sitting against the car, with one arm wrapped around his knees and a beer bottle in his other hand. The closer we got, I could see it was Claude.

"Speak of the devil, there he is. Michael, pull over." Micheal did as I said and he pulled over. I got out of the car, and I walked up to Claude. "Well, thanks for leaving me in the middle of nowhere cause now I have a scraped knee and hands, though I'm pretty sure my knee is bleeding," I said as I look at my knee. Claude did nothing except take a swig of the beer.

"Well, aren't you gonna say something? Claude, Claude, Claude?" Him not saying anything was starting to worry, for he wasn't like him to be quiet. Though it never likes him to leave me in the middle of nowhere in the first place.

I got down to my knees to see his face, but he turned to the other side." Claude, look at me." I tell him, and I could tell he was hesitant at first but slowly he turned his face towards me. I was shocked to see him with a tear-stained face and red, puffy eyes. The tough, cold, strong man that I was used to seeing wasn't who I was looking at. What I was looking at was a part of Claude that I never saw for he hid this part of him for a long time.

"Oh my god, are you crying?" I asked him. "I don't know, how about you explain the salty liquid that's coming from my eyes." He said sarcastically. "Why are you crying?" I asked him as I rubbed circles on his back.

"Well, I don't know maybe because I feel bad for yelling at you, leaving you in the middle of nowhere, and driving off just because I got mad over a silly argument. Darling, you know I love more than anything, even more than all the riches in the world and for me to treat you like, that's pathetic." He tells me as he wrapped his arm around me. I pulled him closer to me.

"Not only that, I just got you back, after ten years of wondering if you moved on with someone else who could provide a good life for you, a man who could actually treat you better than me. Than again sweet-cakes, I honestly don't know what you saw in me or whatever you still see in me cause every day I wonder how a heart like yours could ever love a heart like mine in the first place." He tells me as he chuckles, I kissed him passionately.

"What I see is a person, a man who is charismatic, magnetic, electric, a man who just can't possibly contain himself. And I always had the sense that he became torn between being a good person and missing out on all the opportunities life could offer him. It was this way, I could understand him. It was this way that I understood you, Claude." I say as he stared at me with pure amazement, then he gave a small smile.

Claude took one more swig of the beer before throwing the empty bottle on the ground. Then he stood up and he helped me to my feet. Micheal then pulled up to us in his car. "So, you two good now?" He asked us, and Claude nodded. Micheal smiled before bidding goodbye and driving off. Claude the picked me up bridal style. "Now, how about we go home." He says, he then opened the driver's door of the car. As he got into the seat, he put me down on his lap. He closed the car door, and he started driving down the road to go home.

I rested my head on his shoulder as he kept one arm around me while he drove, and smothered with kisses and compliments; eventually, I fell asleep on his shoulder. " 'night sweet-cakes." He whispered to me as he kisses my forehead one more time.
