The rest of the fight was a blur. I don't really remember much. All I knew was that Axle came over and shielded us as he guided us to my vehicle. It kind of irks me that I didn't fight more. It makes me feel.... like I'm not a very good knight. But at least Macy's safe. A few minutes later we were all speeding away.
"Did we beat them?" I asked, still kind of in a daze.
"Oh yeah we did!" Aaron pumped a fist in the air. "We sent them packing."
"The Ninja will be grateful," Lance said, giving his hair a quick brush. "They owe us one."
Axle shook his head. Whether he did it at Lance brushing his hair, or the Ninja owing us one, I don't know. He turned towards Macy, who was sitting in the back of my knight car.
"Are you alright, Macy?"
"Yeah, Mace, you OK now?" Aaron looked atis too.
"You're OK, right Macy?" Lance asked. We pulled up outside the Fortrex. 
 "Yep," Macy replied. "Thanks to you guys- and Clay!"
"I blushed slightly. "It was nothing..." I mumbled.
"Nothing! C'mon, Claydough, You saved her!" Aaron exclaimed, hopping off his jet. "You're her knight in shining armour! Literally..."
"Macy!" Robin and Ava rushed over and gave Macy enthusiastic hugs.
"Hey, guys," Macy laughed as she hugged them back.
"C'mon," I tried to take Macy's hand, but chickened out at the last second. "Let's go see if you have any injuries we have to treat."
"Okay," Macy smiled at me and took my hand instead. Aaron wolf-whistled.
"Shut up," I said to him, my face the same colour as strawberry ice cream.
I gently pulled Macy inside, and examined her arms, legs and face. I couldn't find any serious wounds- just a few rope burns around her wrists. I offered her and ice pack for them, but she declined. Then Lance walked in, followed by everyone else.
"Care to tell us the story of how you got kidnapped, Mace?" he asked.
"Um, sure," she said. "So, I was walking down to the newsagent's to pick up the latest issue Ned Knightly comic book-"
"I knew it!" Lance mumbled.
"And the next thing I saw was the dark, woven interior of a burlap sack. And the next  thing I saw was a sign declaring that I was at Armour park.
"I managed to escape long enough to call the Fortier via payphone. Luckily, Clay picked up and you all rescued me. Sorry if the connection sounded odd- they found me and I had to fight them off and talk to you at the same time."
"It's okay. And just be careful, okay? I'm sure there are a lot of crooks out there who would love to get their hands on the princess." I told her.
"Okay. But next time, you won't need to save me! I'm not a simpering damsel that cant's take care of  herself! If only i'd had my power mace..."
"Yeah, okay," Ava patted Macy's arm. "We're just glad you're back, safe and sound."
"Hey," Robin piped up. "You know what we were talking about just before you called us? We discovered that Clay had a crush on-"
"Let's eat!" I interrupted quickly. "I'm sure you're hungry, Macy."
"Nah, I'm good," Macy grinned. "Go on, Robin."
"Well, i'll just say this," Robin took a deep breath, like he was coming up for air, and started to sing: "Clay and Macy, sitting' in a tree..."
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Lance, Aaron, Ava and Axl chimed in. I put my hands over my ears. Nooooo!
"He was telling us how worried he was about you," Axl told Macy as he nudged me.
"He searched the Fortrex for hours for you!" Lance danced around with glee, clearly enjoying my humiliation.
"He totally likes you," Ava said to Macy. Aaron and Robin were still singing.
"First comes love, second comes marriage..."
"Oh," said Macy, her smile gone. She looked pretty pink, too. "Actually, that's good, because..."
Everyone grew silent, now hanging on to her every word. "Because...?" they prompted.
"Because I like him too," she blurted, all in a rush. "Ever since we started working together as knights..." Macy turned to me. "You really like me, Clay? In a ...crush.... way?"
At any other given time, I would have said no. But now, I told her the truth.
"...Yes."
Macy smiled, that beautiful, sunny smile of hers, and stood up. She stepped closer to me. Really close.
Then, she kissed me.
That's right. SHE. KISSED. ME! I couldn't believe it. I pinched myself. No, this was not a dream. This was really happening! I tingled all over, from my toes to the tip of my head.
This is going down as one of the best days of my life.
