Chapter 2

(Finished. Has 812 words)
Sunny POV

Ah. Now hopefully we won't be late, it's an important meeting after all. Sunny thought. She accidentally bumped Brightness with one wing tip.
"Hm?" Brightness said.
Oops, maybe I shouldn't have done that.
"Ahem, Mother. We're not going to be late today." Brightness said.
"Alright dear you win, now come on." Sunny replied while the others were still a bit behind, chatting about something mango pudding? Who knows, at least they couldn't hear her and Brightness. The group was nearly at the palace at noon, when the sun was at its highest. Sunny landed first, then came Brightness, Brightsting, Cactus, and a very excited Moonstone. Behind Queen Coral was Prince Turtle, Anklet, Anemone, then her other daughter, Wave. Clay, Tsunami, a nervous Riptide, and a also very excited Kinkajou. Kinkajou hopped up and down on her front talons.
" Kinkajou, shhhhhh." Sunny said.
Kinkajou sat down, her tail still swishing with excitement.
"Where are Starflight and Glory?" Sunny asked.
"Starflight's taking care of school, Glory's at the rainforest with Mightyclaws." Tsunami said.
"Yeah I heard the NightWing tribe is doing great." Clay said.
"Yes." Sunny said.
"Alright now, since everybody is here, we can get started." Queen Coral said.
Everybody followed her to the meeting house.
"Everyone here?" She asked.
"Yes!"
"No delays?"
"Yep."
"Has Turtle doing okay, and is the school okay?"
"Yes and yes, Queen Coral."
"Then let's get started. Anyone going anywhere?"
"Me! Can I go to the kitchens?" Moonstone asked.
"Okay, nobody else?"
"Nope!"
"Alright."

Moonstone's POV

Yay! Now I can learn how make the weird fish roll things they make! Moonstone thought on the way down the hallway and in the kitchen. One of the chefs gave her a look.
"Hi!" She said.
"Hello, why are you here?" The chef answered.
"I'm interested in what you do, I came here with the others in the Queen's meeting. I'm Moonstone."
"Hello, Moonstone. I'm royal chef Clam, this is Oyster." He replied.
"Hello Moonstone!" Oyster said.
"Now, look we're preparing fish rolls." Clam said. "Then we'll move on to other foods."
"Ooo." Moonstone watched as Chef Clam pulled out a long square sheet of dried seaweed.
"We salt the seaweed a bit before using it, it gives more favoring." Chef Clam said.
"Oo, what's next?" Moonstone asked as Chef Calm pulled out a bowl.
"Rice, imported from somewhere near Pyrrhia's mountain ranges." Oyster answered.
Clam took out a smooth, flat, and wide wooden stick and started to scoop the rice into a mound near the edge of the seaweed. He took some stripes of fish and put them on the side of the rice mound. Finally he took the mat under then seaweed and carefully started rolling it to the other end of the seaweed. When he finished he took the mat off and put the roll on a wooden plate.
"Alright, next are fish biscuits, Anklet's favorite." Oyster said. "Come over here, this is where we make them" She said as she stepped into the back of the kitchen and Clam followed.
"This is the dough." She said, rolling a large round piece of dough around and splitting into smaller pieces. "We shape them into fish pieces, sprinkle tiny bits of dried, salted, seaweed on them, and then put them into the hot rock oven."
"Hot rock oven? I thought you didn't use fire." Moonstone replied.
"It has super hot rocks left in the driest, hottest part of the islands, there is also some fire that we get from our visitors, when we don't have any we get heated rocks from trenches in the deep and dried them in the sun, they are very hot. So don't stick your talons in." Oyster said. They all shaped the pieces of dough into little fish with triangle tails and oval bodys with little eye holes.
"Why aren't there any fins?" Moonstone asked while poking an eye hole in her smaller, more lumpy fish.
"We don't do fins because they are easier, go in the mouth better, and we can make lots without wasting time for fins, the original recipe doesn't require fins either." Clam said.
"Ohhhh. Okay!" Moonstone said while making another lumpier fish. The three walked to the hot oven behind the back door.
"Why is there a door?" Moonstone asked when they got there. There was a long stick with a circle thing that could carry the trays.
"It is very hot, we tend not to get too close so we use this stick." Oyster answered. She stuck her tray onto the stick end, opened the door, walked in a bit and carefully shoved the tray into the oven.
Yeeee! It's hot, now I get why they have a door and a stick. Moonstone thought.
Once the rest of the fish biscuits had gone in, the three prepared to make some fried sardines.
